Vicki is such a great hostess, her home is beautiful. It was above and beyond all of our expectations. Great place to just get away and relax. We are all older and not very active, but if your younger it would be a great place too, children can go swimming, etc... She has outdoor and indoor games, fishing poles, grill, you name it I think she has it there. If you like history George Washington's Homestead id only a few miles away, along with a lot of other places. In case you forget something, Vicki has it there, I've never rented a vacation home when the host or hostess goes out of there way to help in any way, Vicki even helped us with directions to get back home an easier way. I just can't say enough good about this home, very clean and nice. Beds are comfortable, rooms are furnished beautifully, beautiful sunsets, and sunrises. Just amazing, will go again if my health holds up. Susan Cook, Temple, Pa.
One of the reasons I chose to rent this property was the great reviews others left. From the moment I requested this property, I received nothing less than the very best treatment. Vicki was so very helpful, welcoming and friendly. I was not disappointed in any way during this trip and only wish we could have spent more time there. By far, this was my best experience in renting a vacation home. Looking forward to returning next year! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home and for making every bit of this trip so easy!
The property was beautiful. All though the weather wasn't great we still had a great time. Vicky is a wonder full hostes and very flexible. We didn't get in until late Sunday evening she was there to great us and show is around the house. She even came the next morning to clean up the beach for us. We can't wait to stay again and hopefully longer next time!
A bungalow with an incredible view through the large picture windows. An away from it all vacation, but near enough to historical sites and towns for culture and restaurants. Recommend Yesterdays restaurant in Montross. An owner who cares about her clientele by making her property homely with extra special touches and items that might have been forgotten in your packing. Relaxing and tranquil with fishing from the jetty, canoes and life jackets should you feel the need to explore the river. The only things missing were Wifi, which is stated in the description and a kettle as we Brits need our cup of tea! We would encourage all those seeking peace and solitude to experience Swan Creek.
We returned from our 10 night reservation feeling relaxed & rejuvenated! Swan Lake was a perfect vacation rental for my husband, 20 yr old son and myself. We brought our boat and jet ski with us and it was absolutely perfect having it right behind the house(this was the first summer in a long time that we have used our boat so much!). I enjoyed chilling on a float in the water or sitting on our own little beach while my husband pulled our son a kneeboard that was available to use. Vicky also made sure that all the little necessaties, that sometimes you forget (like a toothbrush!), were in the house and available to use. It was nice too, after a long 6hr drive, to have cold water/soda in the fridge! The house is very warm and welcoming and the big windows in the living room and dining room really made it wonderful. I have only ever seen one sunset before our stay here and made sure to get up early to catch the beautiful view from the dock. My husband enjoyed his cup of coffee every morning on the dock also! The only suggestion I might have is to maybe have a step near the dock(there are steps going to the beach area a little further down from the dock) to make it easier to step down to the beach. As far as the local area, we did venture out to the State Park, George Washington's birthplace, The Berry Farm and took a nice ride to the National Marine Museum. Restuarants in Colonial Beach were average but did we stumble into Bobby K's Roadside Cafe and had the most delcious breakfast (2 days in a row)!
What a wonderful place to wind down. Very peaceful and beautiful. Vicki was more than gracious to us! Beautiful sunrise with fish fish jumping and swans singing. For anyone needing to unplug this is the place to go!

The department’s tourism blog added Caledon State Park in King George County and Westmoreland State Park to its “Seven Northern Virginia State Parks For Summer Fun” list this week.
Caledon, which is a National Natural Landmark, was listed for being home to one of the largest concentrations of American bald eagles on the East Coast. Westmoreland State Park made the list for Horse Head Cliffs, Fossil Beach and birding.
A separate list posted on the same tourism blog, “Hallowed Ground: 10 Places For A Historic Walk,” included Westmoreland County’s Stratford Hall, the birthplace of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. It also listed the Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park.
