This spacious 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom home has an open floor plan providing a great space for family and friends to gather. With 2 kitchens, 2 living rooms and 2 sets of washer and dryers it is the perfect setting for large groups. In addition to 5 bedrooms there are 2 sleeper sofas (1 in each living room) and a Murphy Bed in a semi-private area with a walk-in closet.
Two picturesque outdoor areas make this cottage a perfect summer retreat. French doors from the 2nd level living room lead to a large patio complete with grill, fire pit table and hot tub where you can enjoy the soothing sounds and breeze of Lake Michigan. Just outside the 1st level living space is a lovely field stone courtyard with dining table and sitting area perfect for enjoying dinner, a glass of wine or conversation outside.
The three upgraded bathrooms contribute to the upscale feel of this property. The master suite bath has a separate tub and shower, double vessel bowl sinks and a linen closet. The 2nd guest bath has a tub shower combo, large vanity and linen closet. The 3rd guest bath has a tub shower combo and large vanity located on the first floor.
You will also find 3 private parking spots and plenty of meter-free parking on the street.
The property can be divided into a 2 & 3 bedroom condo by way of an inner locking corridor. We primarily do this in the non peak season or when there are vacancies in the peak season. This set up is perfect for multiple families allowing as much or as little privacy as desired.
We are located in a residential neighborhood just 2 blocks to the South Public Beach and Kids Corner Park. We are 6 blocks from the Black River which is the main walking path from downtown to the South Pier, Lighthouse and the newly renovated South Beach complete with new kids play equipment and picnic tables. It’s an easy stroll to all the popular South Haven spots from our property …a bonus when you have a large group! If you have younger children check out Kids Corner Park on-line. It has a huge wooden fort-like structure with a cool parent observation area where you can enjoy the breeze of Lake Michigan while watching the kids play.

We take great pride in our home, keeping it well maintained and clean. We are in a great location in close proximity to all the favorite South Haven Spots, but in a residential neighborhood providing peace from the sometimes hectic summer crowds.
Maple Street History:
Many locals remember this property as Maple Street Grocery a small mom and pop operated neighborhood grocery store where they bought candy as kids. It was a plain white building with living quarters on one side. When my brother-in-law was in his teens, he operated a snow cone business out of the back called Russell's Yum-Yum shop. In 2009 we remodeled the owners quarters and in 2011 we added a second story and further remodeling to the first floor. The result was a 5 Bedroom home with 2 kitchens, 2 living rooms, 3 bathrooms and an awesome upstairs patio with a hot tub.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Maple Street house. Wonderful deck to enjoy the firepit and hot tub.
We had 11 people enjoying this beautiful home. All bedrooms are decorated cozily, and the family room/kitchen area was wonderful for congregating and playing games at a ginormous DR table. We did have a slight glitch, and the owner was quick to respond the next day. Great location, never needed our cars.
We had a group of 13 and rented out both units of Maple House. The house is centrally located - easy walk to the beach, Kids Corner and Downtown. We had 8 adults and 6 kids. We had plenty of space for everyone. We spent most of our time on the upper floor. The hot tub and deck were wonderful - the kids loved it. The house itself was lovely - nice, comfy furniture, kitchen was well-stocked, enough chairs for eating, etc. We had an issue with the wi-fi and the owners were quick to respond and try and remedy. The only minor comments would be (1) the number of bathrooms. The whole house has three but in reality, only two could be used at all times because 1 is in the master bedroom and we had a sleeping toddler. (2) We didn't need to use it but the murphy bed is essentially in the entry way of the larger unit. A point of consideration for those that might need the bed. (3) No space to put our bikes and other gear. We had to bring them in/out of the house and place them in the downstairs entry way. It would be great if one of the three garages could be made available to store gear. (4) There were a few broken boogie boards for use. We brought out own stuff but it would be great if the house offered some beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. for renters to use. All in all - we had a fantastic week. Weather was perfect and we really enjoyed our first stay in South Haven. Would highly recommend the house.

Aside from a few minor glitches (had to wait a bit for the entry code to be properly set before we could get in, one propane tank needed to be shared among 2 grills and the fire pit table, and occasionally someone didn't have hot water for the shower), our extended family group truly enjoyed our stay. Location is fabulous. ...2 blocks from Lake Michigan, and while we were there we saw a magnificent April sunset over "iceberg" strewn waters. The space was perfect for our group; especially liked the hot tub, fire pit table, Bluetooth speaker tower, and gathering space. Also enjoyed classic South Haven locales such as Clementine's Restaurant and Sherman's Ice Cream. House was very clean, lovely, and comfortable.
My friends and I just returned from a stay at the Maple Street Retreat and could not have been more happy with our stay. This house is perfect for large groups, (we had 13), because the house has separate kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms. The bedrooms are large and the beds are actually comfortable (hard to find in a rental!). Everything was set up and ready for us - hot tub, sound system, linens. Terri was super attentive and responsive and the payment methods were really easy through the site. The app I downloaded told me everything and everything was clean when we got there.
We made this trip a ski trip and while the lodge we went to (Timber Ridge) was a little farther than originally anticipated, it was an easy drive and we had a blast. We were also only 20 minutes from Saugatuck so we got to frequent the local brewery and antique shops. Great location, especially if you are coming from downtown Chicago - only a 2 hour drive.
Thanks again for the great stay, Maple Street! This will definitely be on the short list if we are looking for a rental in South Haven again.
