The Mariner is a spacious, bright, custom-furnished condo with all the comfort and amenities one may need to enjoy time in our seaside town. Perfectly located on Bearskin Neck and Bradley Wharf, many of Rockport’s art galleries, shoppes, and eateries are steps outside the Bearskin Neck-side entrance. Rockport Harbor and Motif #1 greet you at the Bradley Wharf-side entrance.
The Mariner encompasses the whole 2nd floor of 35 Bearskin Neck. The first floor of the building has a boutique and reserve lobster tanks for the Roy Moore Lobster Company next door. There are two entrances to the condo. The “front” entrance is on Bearskin Neck and the “back” entrance is on Bradley Wharf.
There are two bedrooms on opposite ends of the condo. The harbor-side bedroom has a king bed and the Bearskin Neck-side bedroom has a queen bed. The Mariner has central air conditioning and heat.
The Mariner has a full-sized, modern kitchen with stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and blender. There is a full pot and pan set with a variety of utensils. There is a dining area adjacent to the kitchen with seating for up to 4 people and 3 bar stools along the end of the granite kitchen countertop for additional guests.
There is a full, vented bathroom that includes a shower/tub combination. There is a laundry closet in the hallway outside the bathroom with a clothes washer and dryer. Wash detergent is available in the utility closet.
The living area is furnished with a comfortable leather couch and 2 chairs. Entertainment includes widescreen HD cable TV, WiFi, bluetooth stereo, board games, and books. A sliding glass door leads to a deck with a bistro table with 4 chairs that overlooks Rockport Harbor.
Parking is difficult on Bearskin Neck, particularly during the summer season. However, we have a reserved parking spot across from Front Beach, an approximate 10 minute, pleasant walk along downtown Main Street. I meet guests at the Bradley Wharf entrance to the apartment upon arrival and show where to temporarily park the car to unload luggage. I then show the apartment, give keys/parking pass, and answer any questions. Next I show guests the exact location of the reserved parking space to avoid any confusion.
We also provide a complimentary resident beach pass that allows guests to park in the “resident only” parking lot at the popular Long Beach and Cape Hedge Beach.
Bearskin Neck is a popular destination for Rockport visitors because of the numerous art galleries, shoppes, and eateries. It can become quite active with people during the summertime and on nice weekends during the spring and fall. Rockport Harbor is home to Motif #1 (the red shack centerpiece of the harbor) and recreational boaters, sailors, and working lobstermen. Lobsters are unloaded from boats about 15 yards from the back door of the condo.
Lobsters and other seafood is sold next door at the Roy Moore Lobster Company. Visitors enjoy cooked lobster and other seafood on their back deck “in the rough”. The Lobster Company is a great neighbor and well-run business that is also frequented by locals. I highly recommend lobster-loving guests to take advantage of the fresh seafood and fun atmosphere!

About Justin Mierz
I grew up in Rockport and graduated from Rockport High School. I attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina and graduated with a degree in Environmental Health. I subsequently received a Master of Public Health from the University of Massachusetts. I worked for the Bureau of Environmental Health at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in Boston for 13 years. I resigned in 2013 to begin a vacation rental business and spend more time at home with my wife and girls. I met my wife, Marcie, in the North End of Boston. Marcie is a technical project manager in the field of software engineering in the financial services sector. We live with our two girls, Ava Mae (9 years old) and Sadie (6 years old), at on Atlantic Avenue in Rockport.
Justin Mierz purchased this Apartment in 2012
Why Justin Mierz chose Rockport
This property has been in the family for generations. For many years, my grandmother operated the Lobster in the Rough restaurant in what is now the Mariner. At the same time, my grandfather ran Roy Moore Lobster Company. The condo space was renovated in 2012 by my mother and step-father. Marcie and I bought the condo and in 2013 opened the Mariner vacation rental.
What makes this Apartment unique
The Mariner is a very fun place to stay on a Rockport vacation for adults and children because of its location on Bearskin Neck and Bradley Wharf. Guests get to enjoy a panoramic view of Rockport Harbor - including Motif #1, known to be the most often painted building in America. Restaurants, ice cream shops, boutiques, eclectic shops, and local artists' galleries are steps away... and fresh-cooked lobster is always available downstairs.

Fabulous!!!!
Thank you, Linda, for the review. It was a pleasure hosting you and Margaret!
I think it’s important to clarify a couples statements made regarding our neighbor - Roy Moore Lobster Company - and their deliveries to avoid misconceptions for future guests. First, their trash is most always picked up in the mornings because the driver prefers to not navigate Bearskin Neck and Bradley Wharf during the day when it’s busy with people. Moreover, picking up trash “late at night” would prove to be difficult in the darkness of Bradley Wharf. Secondly, Roy Moore Lobster Company closes at 6:00 PM. After cleaning up, the guys are usually gone by 8:00 PM. There are *usually* no deliveries “late at night” because Roy Moore is closed and there is nobody there to accept late night deliveries. Also, to be specific, the walk to the reserved parking space is about 0.4 miles or about a 10 minute walk. Parking for non-residents is nearly non-existent on Bearskin Neck/Bradley Wharf.
