Puerto Vallarta lies along Banderas Bay, the second largest bay in the Western Hemisphere. It is located 352 kilometers (219 miles) from Guadalajara, the state capital of Jalisco, and it is nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountain range. The region has many forests, rivers and waterfalls, with an average temperature of 27C (80F).
Of its many attractions Playa Mismaloya, which gained fame from the film "The Night of the Iguana", is a popular celebrity hangout. The impressive rock formations of Los Arcos emerge from the bay's crystalline waters, which are great for diving and discovering incredible underwater mountains and steeps. The city hall has murals painted by Manuel Lepe, and the Malecon (sea wall) is adorned with romantic bronze sculptures. What's more, the streets of downtown offer shops and galleries that sell local paintings and sculptures of local artists. The city, known for its top-notch services, also has golf courses, boutiques and a marina.
In Puerto Vallarta you can enjoy the exquisite regional cuisine of Jalisco, that so many people have come to love, and the terraces of open-air restaurants, where you can watch cruise ships roll in as you take in an incredible sunset.
Sport fishing is just one of many activities you can do during your stay in Puerto Vallarta. Each year, during the month of November, the International Sailfish Fishing Tournament takes place. Other activities available in this region are eco-tourism, extreme sports, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, boating, golfing and nightlife.

Casa Kasalista was the most wonderful and luxurious place I have ever been. The view was unbelievable - right out of a movie. The villa has such character and the décor was fabulous. The landscaping was incredible, especially to four old ladies who are all retired gardeners! To top it off - Jose took care of us like Kings. And, I might add, Ramon fed us like Kings as well. All in all it was an experience of a lifetime for us all.
The house and the setting were magnificent.
WOW, we were speechless when we arrived, such a caring staff that hugged us on arrival and made us feel incredible. We floated in the pool and kept saying, "Pinch me so I know this is real." The villa was fabulous and the view was incredible. We were blessed with such an amazing server named Sylvestre, he spoiled us rotten. Rosie was our on-site manager and she arranged for us to have massages at the villa and made several suggestions for things available for us to do. Ramon, our Chef, blew us away with his dishes, he made the most chile rellenos for us to compliment our fajitas. We felt consistently pampered and this made this entire vacation remarkable. We were surprised that the owner of the villa actually called and checked on us. We are already making plans to return. I don't know if there could be a more incredible vacation that we had at Casa Kalista.
The property was amazing but the service since the moment we did the reservation was incredible, friendly and they helped us with everything we wanted, restaurant reservations, tee times, food, etc.
The service on the property was also incredible, we had a great chef and wonderful people to help us in everything. It's not just a rental site, these people are dedicated to excellence in service!!!!
The house was spacious and set beautifully in the hills overlooking the sea. The staff was fabulous.
The villa was fabulous and the staff was wonderful. There was some lack of coordination between you, the manager and the driver. He was not given our return flight info. and had to drive to the house to get the info.
The chef did a fabulous job. I think that the quantity of food purchased should be reviewed since there was much more purchased than we could eat and probably too much either thrown out or taken home by the staff.
