Connect to both nature and refined luxury at Makana Akua. Located along Kauais famous North Shore, this elegant two-bedroom property sits along the sandy shores of Tunnels beach - a popular destination for windsurfing and kiteboarding. Gaze across carefully landscaped gardens of palm, ginger, bamboo, date palms, kamani to the Pacific. The legendary Napali Coast begins right out your window, where verdant valleys climb steeply into mountains.
Walk your morning coffee down to the sand every morning and watch the natural beauty of Kauai come alive before your eyes. Spend days relaxing on the beach or basking in the sun from your private terrace. An outdoor spa, featuring shower and foot bath, provides a gentle way to wash the sand away before heading inside. Your lovely lanai porch is sheltered by a lofty A-frame ceiling and rests upon traditional dark wood flooring. Enjoy every meal outdoors around a decorative wrought-iron dining table.
The villas ambiance is pure Balinese chic. Inside youll find an impressive selection of imported furnishings, all in keeping with the theme. The towering vaulted ceilings and fresh coastal breezes keep the home cool year-round, with ceiling fans lending a helping hand. The spacious great room houses a cozy, ocean-view living room set and gourmet kitchen with sleek, premium granite surfaces and a full island with built-in Halogen range. Retreat downstairs to the home office or watch a movie on the home-theater system.
Makana Akuas two Master suites are equally suited as peaceful retreats. Let the sound of rolling waves rock you to sleep each night in your ultra-comfortable King size bed. Each bedroom is air conditioned and houses its own en-suite with fine fixtures and fittings. The first suite enjoys an ocean-view and opens directly onto the terrace. The second suite has a private balcony ensconced in soothing tropical foliage.
Paradise surrounded by paradise is an apt description or Makana Akua. Kauais North Coast boasts spectacular natural wonders that beg to be explored. Take a guided hike into the mountains and discover beautiful wildlife and waterfalls. The nearby towns of Princeville and Hanalei features inspired oceanfront dining and upscale boutiques.

The house was wonderful, the beach was steps away from the back porch. The views are spectacular.
Great location near tunnels beach. Beautiful views from a charming house.
Love it and the home was wonderful. Manager dealt with minor problem promptly! The home is well appointed but I think could use a little TLC(not much). Great location and quiet. I would give it an 8 out of ten based on the rental cost. Biggest plus no surprises! Cheers
We are in the 6th day of our week-long stay at Makana Akua and it is exactly like the advertisement: Nice house, nice furnishings, nice kitchen, nice backyard, beautiful views from the back porch and a spectacular location on the beach. The only downside is the ocean is quite treacherous here. I tried to go boogie boarding here today and a neighbor stopped me. He said he had been living here for 38 years, that he used to be a lifeguard, that he has had to pull three people out of the ocean here and one of them drowned. With that as a warning, I played in the shore break, but even that was pretty strong. Of course, this is winter surf, so maybe the summer surf is more benign. In any case, Hanalei Bay is just 15 minutes away and it has safe surf.
Hanalei Bay, by the way, is a very nice Old Hawaiian town full of good places to eat and drink and the friendliest people I've met in a long while. Postcards and Baracuda topped our list of favorites, but don't forget to catch the s
My husband and I and another couple stayed at Makana Akua for a week in March. It was the PERFECT vacation spot for us. The house provided enough privacy for both couples. The amenities were wonderful, beautiful kitchen and family room and it was nice to have the grill available. The location was beautiful, just a few steps from the ocean and walking distance from a sweet coffee shop and restaurant.
