About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

This creek is ALWAYS full!

A complete remodel of the kitchen and dining room made this 1930's bungalow a real treat for vacationers! Granite counter tops and stainless appliances attest to the quality of the home, while the fantastic old double hung windows and cedar plank walls of the living room and bedrooms retain the original woodsy craftsman feel.

Numerous windows and the Deck look out on the spectacular spring creek tumbling at the base of a 2 Giant Sequoias, Huge Cedars and Massive Pines. Flowering Dogwood trees, Trilliums, and wild blackberry and raspberry and wild flowers grace the creeks edge. It's a very clean spring creek that bubbles out of the ground a few miles upstream that never varies its flow much, winter or summer.

Relaxing in this home may turn out to be your favorite part of the vacation!

Good place

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our February stay at this cabin in the woods. It's right on a creek which was pretty big while we were there. Lassen Park is a great place to go, although you can't drive in it during the winter. Eskimo Hill has excellent sledding if you walk in perpendicular to the parking lot. Shingletown isn't much, a decent grocery store and an alright pizza restaurant/bar.

The owner of the house is super nice, friendly and helpful. The kitchen has everything you need. There was plenty of wood for the pleasant wood stove. In addition to the wood stove, there were space heaters in every room. There were plenty of towels and TP. It is worth noting that two of the four bedrooms are walk-through bedrooms (you get to two of the bedrooms by walking through the other two bedrooms). Also, both bathrooms are accessed through two of the bedrooms. This was totally fine for our small family, but might not be for everybody.

We would definitely stay here again.

Thanksgiving Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent Thanksgiving week at his beautiful cozy home. We had a wonderful relaxing week. The home is close to Lassen and local wineries. We visited Subway caves, Hat Creek, and a portion of Lassen. Most of the roads we closed beyond the visitor center due to snow. We had a couple of days of rain that turned to light snow which was a real treat and gave our get away that festive holiday feel. Michael was at the cabin to meet us and he had a warm fire going upon our arrival. The home was cozy and inviting in every way. The kitchen appliances made making meals so easy. I cooked a traditional Thanksgiving meal without any problems. The tableware and utinsels were stylish and plentiful making our Thanksgiving meal very special. We loved being able to hear the creek throughout the day and evening. It was very cold so we kept the fire in the fireplace going while we were inside the home. The upper floor was very warm, so we had to leave one of the windows in the bedroom cracked a bit to let in a little cool air. We were not able to use the outdoor grill or furniture due to rain but even without that, this place was so nice. We did however use the outdoor fire pit to make smores. We had Internet access and phone all of which worked very well and kept our teens and young adults happy in the evenings. Overall this was a perfect getaway location.

We loved this property!!! We will be coming back next summer!!! Charming, cozy and comfortable!!!

  • 5 of 5

The house is very comfortable and everything you need is provided. The creek is amazing, crystal clear and so peaceful. We were there in late October, the weather was beautiful, sunny, no wind, in the 50's. We stayed outside by the creek and the firepit day and night. My 9 year old granddaughter swam in the creek twice. It was cold but it just kept calling her name. She asked me if we could just live there!!! My 11 year old grandson caught a fish in the creek!!! There were 10 of us that actually stayed in the house and an additional group of family that visited for some meals and hung out. The house is roomy with additional space on the deck and out at the firepit. The beds were very comfortable. The owner, Michael is quick to respond, helpful and a pleasure to work with. We will be coming back to stay again next summer. I won't even research any other properties, this is where I want to stay!!!

Scenic setting, great house!

  • 5 of 5

This house was the perfect size for our extended family (3 adults and 2 young teens) October vacation. it was secluded and private so the only noise was the babbling creek visable from the living room and back deck. The wood stove took the chill off the early morning hours and the kitchen was large and well equiped. We were only 15 minutes by car from the northwest entrance to lassen Volcanic national park which we visited several days in a row.Michael was on site when we arrived and was welcoming and full of suggestions. I'd highly recommend this place!

Beautiful relaxing setting

  • 5 of 5

The perfect place to enjoy nature. A beautiful running river just out the back door. The home was clean and well stocked. Michael was a pleasure to work with, he even had a fire going to warm up the house when we arrived. The beds are comfy. Only issue as mentioned in other reviews is there is no bathroom on the upper floor for the two bedrooms that are up there, and you have to go thru the first bedroom on the lower floor to reach the second bedroom. Depending on who your traveling with this would be the only thing to consider but the location is well worth these potential inconveniences. Great location if traveling up to see Mt. Lassen too.

Great place to stay and relax and explore the many places in the area.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here 9/17/2016 to 9/24/2016 (came from New Jersey). Really nice place to stay and explore this wonderful area of the country. The house was our home for a week and it was great. Michael was a great host, answered all our questions promptly and provided us with many hiking options for our travels. Place was warm, clean and comfortable. Was great to open all the windows in the kitchen and living room to feel the nice cool air and have the wonderful smell of the outdoors flow in. Wood stove in the living room kept us warm at night. Great location for exploring Mt. Lassen, and short drive to Mt. Shasta and Castle Crag. We hiked trails everyday and it was nice to return to a place where you could relax, listen to the creek, drink some wine, breath in the fresh air and watch the world go by. The kitchen is great and well stocked, we cooked every night, and everything we needed to cook our dinners was there. If we get back to this area anytime soon this will be where we stay.
