Overview

Shasta Cascade House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

This creek is ALWAYS full!

A complete remodel of the kitchen and dining room made this 1930's bungalow a real treat for vacationers! Granite counter tops and stainless appliances attest to the quality of the home, while the fantastic old double hung windows and cedar plank walls of the living room and bedrooms retain the original woodsy craftsman feel.

Numerous windows and the Deck look out on the spectacular spring creek tumbling at the base of a 2 Giant Sequoias, Huge Cedars and Massive Pines. Flowering Dogwood trees, Trilliums, and wild blackberry and raspberry and wild flowers grace the creeks edge. It's a very clean spring creek that bubbles out of the ground a few miles upstream that never varies its flow much, winter or summer.

Relaxing in this home may turn out to be your favorite part of the vacation!

Beautiful Home in a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here for four nights and had a great time. The property is beautiful and located just 20 minutes from Lassen National Park, we were able to get up and out quickly in the morning and spend the day paddle boarding at Manzanita Lake. To be able to come back at the end of the day, grill on the back patio and make smores in the fire pit made each evening memorable. And on the day we decided to stay in and not go anywhere we used the creek flowing in the backyard to cool off in the Summer heat. I highly recommend this location if you have a family with children, we can't wait to come back.

Great house for families or close friends

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house for families or close friends looking to spend time in the beautiful Lassen Volcanic National Park. It has everything one could want: full kitchen with lots of cookware and utensils, outdoor grill, dishwasher, fireplace inside, fire pit outside, tv, wi-fi (spotty at times but who cares), the creek outside, picnic table, chairs, deck, and tons of firewood.

One thing to note: the 4 bedrooms are two railroad style bedrooms each, and one of the 2 bathrooms is in one of the inner bedrooms, so be prepared to get close. We were all family so it didn't matter.

Thanks, Michael - your house was the home base for a family vacation we'll never forget!

Cozy house right on a bubbling beautiful creek

  • 5 of 5

Lovely place on a beautiful river with easy access to Lassen Volcano Park. The host was very kind with lots of useful information and stopping by to provide wood for the fire.

The setting was rustic and picturesque, with the comfort of home.

We had a great time staying at this property. The house was well equipped, and Michael was extremely accommodating. The setting is very scenic, much better than what we’re use to in So. Cal. I think the only down side was we were running around so much we really didn’t have that much time to relax and enjoy the place, can’t believe two weeks went by that fast.

Really lovely spot--very comfortable and in a quiet setting by a beautiful stream

  • 4 of 5

Exactly as pictured. Extremely comfortable, clean and thoughtfully appointed with the exception of no soap/shampoo in the bathrooms.

Negatives: lack of proper screening on most of the windows and the slider in the living room. In the summer, that forces you to rely on the fans rather than the cool breezes at night because there's no way to keep the house secure/bug free. It would have been terrific, especially in the morning, to open the slider and enjoy the fresh morning air, but without a screen, it's not practical.

The second bathroom is in a bedroom that you need to walk through to get to the master bedroom. Not very private for the person(s) sleeping in that middle bedroom.

Cooking is easy; grill is terrific. Outside spaces are very nice and relaxing. Beds are very comfortable. Highly recommend for families, two couples traveling together. All in all definitely would come back.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. It gives me great pleasure to have families come explore the area with my home as a base. You make good observations I'll take a moment to respond to. Every sink has pump antibacterial soap at it. While I don't supply toiletries, many guests discover the cabinet drawer near the guest bedroom heavily stocked with hotel shampoos, conditioners and lotions. A Screened Slider: There are Four Fully Screened (3'x6') Windows right next to the slider. They are double hung so the top can be opened to let the room heat out, or opened on the bottom, or both. I've had a slider screen off and on over these several years. Here's the rub. They cost between $200-300 and guests invariable ruin them. It's never intentional but the view of the trees and creek are very beautiful and guests don't see the screen and walk right through it! Children run right through it too. This has occurred numerous times resulting in $700 of damages. I don't want to hand guests damage bills following their stay, so I have discontinued the slider screen. I'm exploring non traditional screens currently. A solution is on the horizon. Thank you for your feedback. Michael

Great house in the woods with a creek

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in July of 2016 and this place has everything you need. Air conditioning, BBQ, patio, firepit and running backyard creek. It is close to the entrance of Mount Lassen and close to Shingletown in case you need to buy anything. Thank you for a great little stay.
