Overview

Shingletown House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

This creek is ALWAYS full!

A complete remodel of the kitchen and dining room made this 1930's bungalow a real treat for vacationers! Granite counter tops and stainless appliances attest to the quality of the home, while the fantastic old double hung windows and cedar plank walls of the living room and bedrooms retain the original woodsy craftsman feel.

Numerous windows and the Deck look out on the spectacular spring creek tumbling at the base of a 2 Giant Sequoias, Huge Cedars and Massive Pines. Flowering Dogwood trees, Trilliums, and wild blackberry and raspberry and wild flowers grace the creeks edge. It's a very clean spring creek that bubbles out of the ground a few miles upstream that never varies its flow much, winter or summer.

Relaxing in this home may turn out to be your favorite part of the vacation!

Way to Relax and Restore

  • 5 of 5

This property was immediately refreshing and rejuvenating. The creek and woods surround the cabin home and are visible through crystal clear windows all around. Nearby is a small town and traveling 20 miles up the road is Lassen National Park with lakes and trails abounding. The creek is within feet of the deck and provides a bubbling delicious sound of refreshing clear water. All through the day, the light changes in the forest and on the water, reflecting the eddies of the stream. The home feels spacious and has all needed indoor amenities. The surrounding property has thoughtful outdoor amenities of fire pit, picnic table and creek side chairs. We would definitely love to return.

Great Location in Rustic Creekside Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our stay here. Cabin is rustic with updated amenities in a very scenic location on a continuous flow creek. Great deck overlooking the creek. Kitchen is well equipped for cooking basic meals and the deck grill works very well. We had 3 couples, all family, and we're very comfortable. The TV and wifi worked well as did the phone. The deer showed up on schedule in the side yard. There are few eating establishments but the IGA store has all you will need to cook your meals. We are glad we stayed here for two days. Owner was very easy to work with.

Very nice place in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We four adults and one well-behaved doggie very much enjoyed this lovely home with three Giant Sequoias in the back yard and a running creek. The kitchen was well-stocked, the living room super comfy, and the beds/linens good. There was plenty of room at the table/chairs for eating and gaming, and the outside deck with working/clean grill was relaxing and peaceful. There is a fire pit down by the creek. Upstairs sleepers need to come downstairs for a bathroom, but that was not a problem for our active family. The location here is close enough to Lassen to allow daily visits. The owner of this sweet place gets a solid 5 stars for communications, orientation, and just being a good Joe. Thanks, Michael.

Lovely cabin, right on the creek!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at Michael's cabin last week and it was pretty fantastic! It was clean, spacious, perfect for our kids, and super close to Lassen, the Lava tubes, and Hatt Creek. We loved spending time outside everyday when we got back from our daily adventures. Our kids played, fished, and explored the creek while we sat back and watched. (It was just deep enough and not super fast flowing, but freezing). Everything at the cabin worked well. We would definitely recommend staying here and hope to come back!

Beautiful Home in a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here for four nights and had a great time. The property is beautiful and located just 20 minutes from Lassen National Park, we were able to get up and out quickly in the morning and spend the day paddle boarding at Manzanita Lake. To be able to come back at the end of the day, grill on the back patio and make smores in the fire pit made each evening memorable. And on the day we decided to stay in and not go anywhere we used the creek flowing in the backyard to cool off in the Summer heat. I highly recommend this location if you have a family with children, we can't wait to come back.

Great house for families or close friends

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house for families or close friends looking to spend time in the beautiful Lassen Volcanic National Park. It has everything one could want: full kitchen with lots of cookware and utensils, outdoor grill, dishwasher, fireplace inside, fire pit outside, tv, wi-fi (spotty at times but who cares), the creek outside, picnic table, chairs, deck, and tons of firewood.

One thing to note: the 4 bedrooms are two railroad style bedrooms each, and one of the 2 bathrooms is in one of the inner bedrooms, so be prepared to get close. We were all family so it didn't matter.

Thanks, Michael - your house was the home base for a family vacation we'll never forget!
