Guestbook comments from the manager

When I first started to plan my trip to the Smokey Mountains I panicked because I was finding cabins around $300 and night, which was out of my price range. I was delighted when I found the Next to Heaven cabins but then days before we left I started to panic again wondering why it was so much cheaper.

The cabins are only 25 miles outside of Knoxville and less than 20 miles from both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The cabin was secluded but accessible. The road up to the cabin is quite steep and since we got in at night, I was a little shocked to see what I had drove the next morning, maybe it was better that way. When we had an issue with the kitchen sink it was resolved quickly. We never did get the internet to work but I wasn't really concerned, I figured we were better off without it. We used the kitchen heavily and it worked just fine, limited counter space but decently equipped. We used the hot tub nearly every night. Out of the four Next to Heaven Cabins I feel like #4 Rich Mountain View was the most private. We had two cabins above us and one on each side but none blocking our views or any that could see in our balcony or windows. Right down the hill is horse back riding and zipline facilities and we did do both. It made for a nice day. Also right down the road was River Rat Tubing which was my favorite part of my trip. The only reason why I didn't give the cabin five stars is because there is only one shower. The other bathroom had a jacuzzi tub which did no good for two adults and two teenage girls, I could see it being nice for a romantic trip but for a girl's weekend it was taxing to share one shower. I would book this cabin again, without a doubt!

Great cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was all we wanted it to be! It was clean, the beds were comfortable, the hot tub was used often and we were supplied plenty of towels for all of us for the whole week. We spent a lot of time on the back deck, it was beautiful out and we loved being so close to nature. Miss the sounds of crickets at night, we dont have them in Florida.

The day after check in someone stopped by the cabin next to us to clean I am guessing. We asked the gentleman where to take our garbage, he ended up taking it for us. He was at the cabins at a later date as well and stopped by to see if we had more garbage to take down to the dumpster, what a great guy!

The front burner on the stove did not work when we got there but my b/f is an appliance technician and was able to fix it pretty easily.

Almost Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Townsend cabin was wonderful. The cabin was clean, quiet, and fully equipped to meet our every need. The location was excellent - off the beaten path but just minutes from the Smoky Mountain National Park and close to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Set back in the woods, the cabin had a picture window view of the mountains. The large deck across the back (with a hot tub) was the perfect spot for morning coffee and evening relaxation. The kitchen had everything we needed and two bedrooms provided plenty of space for the four of us.

When we come back, we hope a cabin here will be available for us!

Great value for family

  • 5 of 5

We arrived and we're very pleased. The cabin was very clean and in very good shape. The view wasn't the greatest but it did just fine as we did sight seeing most of the time anyway. We stayed 7 days with my wife and I and our 6 & 10 year old boys. Not a single complaint other than the Whirlpool tub was quite noisy. It was about 30-40 min to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge but we mainly stayed away from the ridiculous traffic other than a couple nights so the kids could ride some go carts. That's honestly the best part, go in to town if you want and once your tired of it go back to the cabin or explore Townsend or the National park away from all the city slickers looking for Myrtle Beach type attractions. It was only about 15-20 min to the entrance to Cade's Cove. Great place at a great price!

Disappointed is an understatement. We stayed here 2 nights and it is the first place that I wanted to leave early. There were 3 adults and 2 children, ages 3 and 5, in our group. The cabin was not ready at the 4 pm check in time. There were popcorn remnants on the floor. The cushions on the dinette chairs were absolutely filthy with stains. There is no door to divide the master bedroom from the master bathroom...the whole area is open which provides NO privacy. The cabinetry underneath the kitchen sink had obvious water damage and looked as if it may fall through. All the bedding linens and towels smelled of cigarette smoke and the blanket left for use on the sofa bed smelled of body odor. The plates were put away without being dried, there were puddles of water in between them. I emailed management while we were occupying the cabin. They offered to have the cabin cleaned again. The response to my complaint was received after 7pm before our scheduled check out the next morning. It was pointless to have them clean again. Never again.

Owner's Response: Guest booking was for two days. Guest arrived to the cabin at 3:10pm on the 26th - Check-in is at 4pm. Cleaners finished cleaning cabin at 4:05. Guest sent an email at 10:09am the morning after check in - We responded by 7:50pm via email. We are very sorry that the guest was unhappy with the cleanliness of the cabin and we are sorry that we did not read their email communication sooner. The guest was provided with a toll free and local number to call for cleaning/maintenance concerns and did not use that option. We have addressed cleaning concerns with our cleaners. Dining chairs are being re-upholstered this week. This cabin gets very good reviews with a 4.6 STAR rating.
