About the property

Three Bedroom, Three Bath Cabin With Lake Views From Every Room. Sleeps 8.

Lake Escape is an incredible cabin on the shores of Lake Nottely, a huge mountain lake covering 4180 acres with 106 miles of shoreline. Enjoy the year-round lake view from the wall of windows or the expansive deck and porch areas. Take a short walk down the gentle slope to the water's edge to enjoy everything the lake has to offer. Take the cabin's three-person canoe out and explore the lake year-round. Tie up your own boat or bring a rental boat to Lake Escape's private boat dock, which is useable during the warm months (May through early September), when the water elevation is maintained at recreational levels. Enjoy the lounge chair seating and horseshoes by the fire ring at the water's edge. At night, jump in the outdoor hot tub with lake view, shoot a game of pool, or watch a Blu-ray movie in front of the fire. Lake Escape is only 25 minutes from the Harrah's Valley River Casino in Murphy, NC. The cabin is only 20 minutes from Blue Ridge and less than 15 minutes from Blairsville, in the heart of the area with North Georgia's highest mountain peaks. The range of nearby outdoor activities is almost unlimited. There is paved road access all the way to the cabin, including the driveway.

Lake Escape is a large cabin, with over 2400 sq. ft. of finished space, three bedrooms and three full bathrooms. It has a convertible ping pong/pool table, hot tub on the lower patio facing the lake, Pawley's Island hammock on the screened porch, two fireplaces, and two TVs. The spacious lodge-style interior sleeps up to eight. The main level has a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, great room, and dining area, all under a cathedral ceiling. The great room has a gas-log fireplace, DirecTV satellite and 43" high definition TV with over 100 channels, and a wall of windows with a great view of the lake. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and a breakfast bar/island. A large bedroom with queen bed, a full bathroom with tub/shower, and a laundry area with washer and dryer complete the main level. Exterior doors from that level lead to the covered porch with gas grill, the open deck, and the large screened porch with hammock and dining table. Up the stairs from the great room is the private master suite with a large bedroom with king bed and seating area, a walk-in closet, and a master bath with tub/shower. The cabin's lower level has a large game room with gas-log fireplace, DirecTV satellite high definition TV with over 100 channels, convertible ping pong/pool table, and queen sleeper sofa. There is a year-round lake view from the room, as well as from the patio with hot tub outside the French doors. The lower level also has a bedroom with twin beds and a third full bathroom with tub/shower.

The three-person canoe with lifejackets and paddles is provided for our guests year-round at no additional charge.

We provide everything for your stay except food and personal items.

This property was not up to the cleanliness we are use to in Home Away Rentals/various other rental

  • 1 of 5

Three couples reuniting once again after over 27 years of friendship decided to celebrate at this lakefront cabin. The pictures on the website were beautiful, the reality of this cabin was a disappointment to ALL of us! The cleanliness of this cabin left a LOT to be desired! Almost everything was covered in dust from furniture, lamps, décor -- you name it! I won't even begin to describe what the toilet bowl cleaning brush and container looked like (hidden behind a wicker shelf (which hadn't seen the "light of day" in a long time) in the bathroom -- DISGUSTING!!! All of the bathroom sinks as well as the kitchen sink did not drain properly! Now moving on to the kitchen -- the supplies in this kitchen are in need of a BIG update!! I'm not talking "Ritz" here -- just a few newer, necessary pieces that will make cooking more sanitary and easier. There were many small skillets that we wouldn't use because they were not clean and usable! The 2 large skillets had to be washed twice in the dishwasher before we would even cook in them. The website states this cabin sleeps 8, but there is not enough silverware in the kitchen to accommodate that many people to eat a meal together much less the six of us! The drawer holding the kitchen cooking utensils is DANGEROUS -- it is filled to overflowing with items that are nasty and should be discarded! Put some things in there that people actually need in a kitchen! Cabinets over the stove and microwave have a layer of dust and grease that is awful! When we removed the first bag of trash from the kitchen trash container there was spilled food and yuck in the bottom of it. While we were hoping to be able to use the dock and canoe, the level of the lake did not permit it. That's nature's fault, not the owners. However, the canoe and life jackets were haphazardly laying in the tree line along the path to the lake. Shouldn't they have been on the patio underneath the deck? We didn't even think about using the hot tub after seeing the condition of the cabin. I could continue, but I think you have gotten the message -- this cabin needs to be removed from your site until the owner has made some much needed improvements and hired someone to do a deep cleaning of this property. The cleaning lady left a note that was on the counter when we arrived -- she prided herself on her cleaning skills and hoped we enjoyed out stay. We did enjoy spending time with special friends and look forward to next time -- but not at this property

Owner's Response: The first time any of the renters in this party contacted me about their stay was 16 days after they left the cabin. I have no indication that any of them attempted to contact me while they were at the cabin. They had my and my housekeeper's cell numbers. If one of us had been contacted, I would have had someone out there as soon as possible, probably within a couple of hours, to address each of their concerns. Let me address some of their specific complaints. They object because the toilet bowl brush was "hidden" behind a wicker shelf and was dirty. I think most renters would object if we left the brush in the middle of the bathroom floor in full view. They were obviously able to find it and use it. The bowl brush was dirty because it had been performing its intended function, to clean the toilet bowl. They also complained that the cabin's canoe, provided free for renters to use, was on the path by the lake and should have been under the cabin's deck. Actually, I originally did store the canoe under the deck, but decided that that was not very convenient for renters. They had to carry it from the cabin down the path to the water. I decided to relocate the canoe to a spot at the end of the path near the water's edge. Some of the renter's complaints are valid. This cabin had been rented almost every single day from the middle of May until their stay over the week of Labor Day. Over that long period of heavy use, some things certainly did need attention. The Teflon coating of a number of the pots and pans had gotten badly scratched, and some of the eating utensils were depleted. Although I strongly dispute the renter's statement that almost everything in the cabin was covered in dust, some of the deeper cleaning items had not gotten the attention over the summer that they deserved. Since this renter's stay, we have had some vacant days and had time to do that deep cleaning. Also since their stay, we have done the following: had all of the decks and porches re-stained; repainted all walls on the main and upper levels; added a new set of pots, pans and skillets, and more eating utensils; and washed the curtains. In eight days, I am installing all new carpet on the main and upper levels. This cabin is in the best shape ever. Even without these improvements, it has never received a one- or two-star review before this one and had only one review below four stars. Based on what I know the condition of the cabin to have been, it was not a fair rating this time.

Very Nice Home, just a few suggestions.

  • 3 of 5

The home is beautiful.Very spacious. Nice amount of land and area to explore. The dock was nice as well. The house itself was very clean. However, the items in the kitchen were very dirty. The utensils and pots/pans were pretty gross. There is also a very bad ant problem. The chairs on the deck need to be replaced, some of them are broken. There should also be an extra set of sheets and pillow cases, just in case something is dirty. There is a washer and dryer, but you would have to wait for both cycles. John was very easy to reach, via email, and he was prompt in his responses. With a few tweaks it would be perfect. Just my 2 cents.

Spacious and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

It was very comfortable with alot of room to spread out. The owner communication was good. But there was an ant problem mainly in kitchen area and life jackets for canoe were quite dirty. Overall, a plesant stay.

Great weekend in the mountains!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was beautiful and perfect for a weekend getaway. John was very responsive with questions and everything was as expected once we arrived. We brought a boat and were able to take it out on the lake via the public ramp nearby. There is also a bait shop on the way up, where the owner there was very friendly. We were able to grill, enjoy the afternoon showers from the living room, shot pool...all around, a good weekend to catch up with old friends. We will probably try to book the cabin again. Thanks John!

Great cabin in need of a little love...

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time. Plenty of room. Great lake for swimming with kids. Lots of kitchen utensils and cooking resources. Beds a little hard and overall the cabin could use a facelift - outside needs staining on deck, grill is very old, some grime on microwave hood and hot tub water looked cloudy and kind of dirty so we didn't use it at all. All in all it was fun and would recommend for sure.

Nature Lovers Paradise

The cabin is perfect for travelers who love spending their days outdoors and their nights there too, actually! The boat dock and lake were perfect and the cabin was more spacious than the pictures can show. Our family loved it!
