About Kathy Norwood

My husband and I built Eden House in 1975 on family property. Our families are both local and we are descendants of the first residents of Mount Desert Island. We are very proud of our island. It has been a wonderful place to raise a family and our children live close by!

Mount Desert Island Marathon Base Camp

  • 5 of 5

We choose Eden House as a place to stay while walking the MDI Marathon. Kathy was very easy to communicate with either by email or text. When we arrived we were thrilled by the location, cleanliness, and the completeness of the accommodations. Everything for a great breakfast was waiting for us. After completing the Marathon and relaxing at Eden House we looked at each other and said five nights was not enough to enjoy Eden House and the surroundings and that we will return soon.

Little piece of heaven right in the woods

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I with our two dogs loved this house! It's so quiet and away from all the bustle of Bar Harbor yet so close to everything! Such a comfortable house with every amenity you could think of. Our week in Maine brought us beautiful weather with cool evenings. We only had to use the air conditioning one night, which was a bonus. If you like to cook, every single cooking utensil, pot or pan is available as well as all the spices and condiments to make a great recipe. We took six mile hikes every day with our dogs throughout Acadia National Park and came back to Eden House tired and happy. The washer and dryer were also appreciated so we could travel with minimal luggage!

Kathy is a wonderful host. She gave us plenty of suggestions for restaurants, hikes, and swimming holes. She told us she was available if we needed her, but we never did since the house had everything we could hope for. We can't wait to come back again for another visit!

Great Escape!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed staying at Eden House during our visit to Mt. Desert Island. It was great to return to this lovely little house at the end of a day of exploration. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs and we made great use of the laundry downstairs. My children loved playing with the toys hidden under their bed as well as watching the kids movies. I appreciated the selection of novels and generous linen closet. My husband appreciated the space and central location.

Perfect home nestled in the Maine woods

  • 5 of 5

Eden House is the right name for this property: a slice of paradise! My family loved this house so close to everything on Mt. Desert Island and yet so quiet and removed from the hubbub. The house was our place of refuge during an exciting weekend of wedding festivities for my son at other locales on the island. Kathy was a wonderful, responsive host and I only wish I could have met her in person. We can't wait to come back when we can spend more time in Acadia National Park and more time just relaxing at the house!

Great Place! Close to Bar Harbor and "quiet side" of Mt. Desert island

  • 5 of 5

We had four adults who came to do all that Acadia National Park had to offer and just needed a place to sleep. Our place to just sleep turned out to be quite amazing! The kitchen was well appointed, every spice and seasoning we needed was at our fingertips as was plenty of cookware. We utilized the onsite washer/dryer in order for us all to only need a carry-on. The gas grill was a nice surprise allowing us to grill enough meats for an army! Wi-fi and Dish TV were nice additionals to kick back and relax with after a long day of hiking and exploring. I would recommend this property to anyone with 4 or less people heading to Mt. Desert island (6 might be a little cramped-we had plenty of room for all 4 of us). Great, well kept home with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. It really is 5 star nice! Thank you Kathy!

3 adults and a a super well behaved pup

  • 5 of 5

We visited Eden House over Labor Day weekend. It was perfect. Clean, comfortable and well stocked. We cooked every meal there and missed nothing from our kitchen at home. We appreciated the privacy and the location of the house. We travel to Mt Desert Island often and this was by far the best house we ever stayed in. As I stated earlier, perfect.
