This loft apartment is located in downtown Jersey City, which directly faces Manhattan across a 1 mile stretch of the Hudson River. Jersey City is often called the '6th borough' because of its close proximity to New York City's 5 boroughs (The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan). But unlike the other boroughs, Jersey City enjoys the most convenient access to Manhattan, the lowest rates and the best views of the Manhattan skyline.
If you were to stay in one of the other boroughs -- The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens or Staten Island -- it would take you about 40 min to get to Times Square. And staying in Manhattan, though convenient, would be extremely expensive and small for the price. From our apartment, a 5 minute walk to the subway and a 5 minute train ride gets you directly to lower Manhattan at the Freedom Tower (formerly World Trade Center) and a 10 minute ride gets you directly to the lights of Broadway.
Savvy travelers to the New York City area stay in downtown Jersey City -- and downtown Jersey City specifically -- where you get easy, fast access to Manhattan and a trendy, safe, walkable community at a great price.
We are a safe, 'walkable' neighborhood with everything you need just a stroll away including transportation to NYC, restaurants, laundry, cafes, etc. To access Manhattan/New York City, Times Square, Broadway, and sites like the Statue of Liberty and World Trade Center, ferries and PATH trains are just a short 5-10 minute walk away from the apartment. You would get directly to everything there is to see within 5-15 minutes on our 24-hour PATH trains directly to Broadway points or a quick ride on our ferry service.
The cost for the 24-hour PATH train is $2.50 one way or $1.90 when you buy them by 10 packs. These trains go directly to Broadway so there is no need to transfer to New York City subways and pay an additional fare.
New York Waterway ferries, just a short 5-minute walk from the apartment, are $5 one-way and can get you to points along the West or East Side of Manhattan in as little as 5-10 minutes.
New York City is better when you stay with us. We have the best views of the New York City skyline, the most convenient access to all the tourist attractions via our ferries and trains and we're over 50% less expensive than comparable options within New York City.
My husband and I have been in Jersey City since 1996 and watched it explode in growth and amenities and conveniences. Having grown up in The Bronx, New York -- just across the river, we found Jersey City to be convenient to our family, friends and conveniences in our native New York but just far enough to give us more space and more peace at a fraction of the cost. Now, over 15 years and 2-kids later, we enjoy Jersey City as our home.
Festive Palmer purchased this condo in 2007
We love the open floor plan, exposed brick and hardwood floors in such an architecturally-beautiful landmark building. It just allows us to share family time together but still be in our own zones.
The huge, arched windows let in all the light. And the crank out window panes catch just the right amount of breeze. The windows are so beautiful, we don't use window coverings (and thankfully don't have to worry about privacy with the tree in the front). The entertainment area including the 14-in-1 game table and XBox game console make it a perfect option for families. Plus, did we mention that everything is at your doorstep?
I stay with my mother-in-law, husband and son in June this year and all I can say is fantastico! In my country, we enjoy openness and I loved that the apartment was open and moderno. The place is so close to everything and you really feel like you are in the middle of it all. Beautiful place, great location and really great for families. I recommend to my friends.
This was our first stop in our USA adventure. We arrived early and the door code allowed us in to find the apartment still being cleaned which was not a problem, we were just glad to arrive. We dropped off the bags and went to the local diner. The apartment is a few minutes from Exchange Place which gives quick access with the PATH into the financial district but also the local ferry up to Midtown. The apartment was clean, quirky, cool and well equipped. There is a market about 5 mins away so we always had supplies. The view of Manhattan from this side of the Hudson was superb. Would recommend this to anybody after a nice cool well equipped spacious apartment.
As a family of 5 we had a great time in this centrally located apartment. The kids loved the pool table. The loft style of the apartment and the furniture is great and comfortable with everything there what you need. For the few questions we had, the owner was very responsive and helpful. The nearby ferry terminal, Path and Light Rail allows you to chose from different options to go to the City or also to Hoboken in a very short time.
This apartment was excellent for our family of five. Very spacious and quiet and everything we needed. The close proximity to the Grove Street and Exchange Place Path stations made easy access to visit Manhattan etc. Plenty of eating choices in close proximity. A grocery store within walking distance. A 15 minute walk to Newport Shopping Mall which had great shopping. A beautiful walk along the Hudson River day or night was a highlight for us.
Highly recommend this accommodation to anyone wanting to visit New York.
Our family (5 persons) visited NYC for 1 week. The loft was perfect for all the members of our family (the children are 10, 17 and 21 years old). The apartment is well equiped, clean, spacious, quiet and very comfortable. It is close to the Hudson river where it is very pleasant to walk and see from the same spot all the famous buildings of NYC (the Empire State, the Chrysler and all buildings of south Manhattan): excellent for nice pictures! All amenities are accessible within 3 minutes from the apartment. The PATH station is at 5 minutes by walk and allows you to access efficiently at One World Trade Center or 34th street at Empire State building.
If you want a quiet place after spending the afternoons and the evening in NYC this is the place to be!!
we travelled over from Germany and tried out HomeAway and the Palmer's apartment while staying in NYC for 5 days as a family of 4 with our two boys aged 10 and 11.
We had an exiting stay in New York however prefering this apartment over a hotel room was the right choice. The apartment is very well equipped and had everything we needed. The Palmer's saw after everything you might think of as a host like e.g. paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags etc. The boys loved the apartment and would have preferred staying there playing pool instead of doing sightseeing. We loved the number-based door-lock as it was very practical and made things very easy.
We found that the combination of a prepaid Metrocard for using the PATH with flatrate Metrocards for the city worked best for us as we used the Metro a lot.
We did not meet with our hosts as they were on vacation in parallel however felt well taken after nevertheless.
We would recommend the apartment to friends: the view over Manhattan in evening with an icetea in the bagpack was priceless.
We were visiting NYC for a week. This loft was perfect for my wife and I and our two younger
children. The owners were there to meet us on arrival and made themselves available for
anything that might have come up during our stay. The loft itself was roomy, clean and very
comfortable. It was provisioned with everything necessary and more. A grocery, pharmacy and
train stations were all within 2 and half blocks and in easy reach. Restaurants of all kinds
were on the same block as the loft or just around the corner. The loft had plenty to keep the
kids entertained on those slower-to-start days with enough room for the kids to play without
all of us feeling on top of each other. Being able to do laundry dramatically cut down the
amount of luggage we had to bring and having the option to cook versus eating out for every
meal reduced our vacation costs considerably. If you're planning a trip to the NYC area for
the family, this is THE place to book.
If your stay is for a week or more, be sure to google "CityPass" and check out their various
levels of discounts to the more touristy destinations — including the Liberty Science Center which the kids really loved.
We are on the border of Manhattan/New York City, separated by a mile's width of the Hudson River and feature everything for travelers of all kinds, whether business, family or leisure. Featured locations just within a 10-20 minute bike, train, car or ferry ride are: Liberty Science Center, Statue of Liberty, Liberty State Park, Freedom Tower (former World Trade Center), Empire State Building, Broadway theaters, Time Square and Central Park. My favorite thing to do is grab my bike (or get a bike rental), hit the waterfront and catch a 4-minute ferry across the river to the West Side of Manhattan where I stop off at the relaxed waterfront of Battery Park City before riding north up the West Side Riverfront Walkway to stop for some lunch and if I'm not to exhausted, some window shopping in the West Village and SOHO.
