About Michele Palatas

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I moved to Alaska in 1998 to work in Deadhorse-Prudhoe Bay, in the Arctic on the Beaufort Sea. I quickly became enchanted with this beautiful place we call Alaska! If you love the outdoors, this is the place!

Michele Palatas purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Michele Palatas chose Anchorage

I purchased this duplex in 2002 along with two more, and made four of the units, fully furnished guesthouses. You may rent both the Cottage (912285) and the Cabin if you require more room. Since then I have had the pleasure of welcoming guests from all over the world to our city nestled between Cook Inlet and the Chugach Mountains.

What makes this cabin unique

The convenience of being near to downtown and midtown, the Seward Highway heading south and the Glenn Highway heading north, make this a perfect location to get out and experience Anchorage and nearby attractions. The two cottages in the back, The Cabin and The Cottage (912285) are only one of two in all of Anchorage. Built in 1951 to accommodate personnel at the first airstrip, Merrill Field, they have been completely renovated in the past couple years, and the Cabin and Cottage are now quite cute and comfortable.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much Michele. This has been one of my most relaxing yet busy trips I have taken in a long time. I love your place. It is so cozy and warm. It has been delightful.

Convenient Comfortable Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here as a home base while we were in Anchorage for a wedding and visiting friends.

While it is located in a neighborhood and not out in the middle

of nowhere, I felt comfortable going in and out with our own private access (we were actively in and out all day and night) and when inside I certainly felt like we were in a private oasis.

It was very conveinient to get to and from downtown Anchorage, and I learned nothing in Anchorage is really more than 5-15 mins away from the north side to the south side. Hiking/Biking/shopping/restaurants/mountains/tourist stuff/local people stuff... it's all 15 mins or less.

The rental covered all basics thoroughly. It was very well maintained and very clean. There were many staples that have accumulated over time from other guests (cooking oil, spices, etc). There is in-unit washer dryer which was so very essential since we had already been traveling for 4 days before we got here and were staying for another 4. They had extra bedding, cleaning supplies, really any domestic thing you'd need that you totally didn't think/forgot to get... ultimately felt like a nice regular home.

We didn't really require much assistance and were constantly on the go while staying here, so I didn't get to meet Michele, but Michele did send a nice email making sure we arrived and everything was ok while we were there.

I have many friends in Anchorage and would definitely consider staying here again on another visit.

An excellent rental

  • 5 of 5

I really enjoyed my stay in this clean, comfortable, cabin--much nicer than many hotels! Great location within short driving distance of most of Anchorage's attractions, and lots of amenities in the property. Great customer service from owner, who has given a great deal of attention to providing for guests. Would definitely recommend!
