About Bruce Davis
My name is Bruce Davis and I have been going to Key West with my wife for over 30 years. We have been using this wonderful condo as a winter getaway for as long as I can remember.I love to look out over the garden from the balcony and do watercolors as the sunsets. Sometimes we go out to Mallory Dock in the evening and take in the street shows, cats jumping through rings of fire, drummers of every persuasion, jugglers, artists painting their fantasies on the sidewalks:you name it they've got it!
Bruce Davis purchased this Condo in 1983
Why Bruce Davis chose Key West
We bought this apartment because we feel like we can go to the Caribbean without having to leave the country.
What makes this Condo unique
We love the fantastic blue-green water of Key West, the sunsets at Mallory Dock, strolling around Old Town with its picturesque buildings, the abundant flora and fauna of this very special tropical environment. The location is amazing. Two minutes to the beach. The condo grounds are pristine. Two pools one heated & lovely gardens with palm trees & blooming flowers. The staff in the office is exceptional, they will help you with anything.
The owners are very responsive. I had a minor issue & they were on the phone & e-mailed me within 15 minutes. Under no control of the owners is the major construction project that was going on in the front building. There was scaffolding, machinery, banging & drilling from 8am to 5:30 six days a week. It was far enough away not to be a problem. However the building that this condo is in will start this major construction next year between December 2019 & March 2020 . I would call the condo office to confirm when the construction will start. Unless you plan on being out of the condo 6 days a week it would be impossible to stay. The only downfall of the condo is it is very dated & is in desperate need of updating. Especially the shower
The latest update from the office is that the C wing window replacement project is scheduled to begin January 28th if this is a concern. They plan to start at the far end of the wing from where my condo is located so the area near the unit will most likely not be too effected until late Spring.
The apartment is retro style with wicker furniture and a comfortable reclining chair, there are new Italian tile floors, new air conditioners, mattress, stove. It is comfortable for people going to the beach and bringing their pets. The apartment is decorated with original artwork of my father. The kitchen is very well equipped with many amenities. We plan to do some updating this Fall in the kitchen and bathroom which should be ready beginning December 1st.
Condo living, on beautiful pristine grounds!
Directly across from Smathers beach, with two large pools, two tennis courts and a bbq. Five minute drive to Duval St. The landscaping is gorgeous and extremely well maintained. The pools are cleaned daily. A great family feeling, with very friendly owners and renters.
Benjamin, the condo owner, is great to work with and gets back to you immediately.
Great location in Key West
We enjoyed our stay at Key West by the sea. The location across from Smathers beach was great. The condo had two beautiful pools and nice grounds and was a relaxing place to stay. The owner, Benjamin was very nice to work with and communicates well. The apartment was clean and had some lovely artwork. The bed was comfortable. Our small dog was welcome. Our only complaint, and it was a minor one was the couch in the living room was not too comfortable and the kitchen could use some updating. This is why we did not give 5 stars. Everything else deserved 5 stars and this did not detract from our stay. We enjoyed it so much that we are booking it again for next year.
Thank you Susan. The couch has a board under the pillows which is easily removed, some times if a guest sleeps there they prefer a firm bed. We do plan on updating some items in the kitchen. We hope that you will enjoy another vacation in Key West.
Great complex! Uncomfortable furniture!
At first we loved it. Beautiful grounds and pool. Friendly people. But coming home at end of day the furniture was hard and old. Bed was ok. Kitchen silverware was unmatched and falling apart. The TV sets were under 30". The grout on floor tile needed to be redone - stained and sloppily done. Balcony was cluttered with personal items. Weather was great. Stayed for the month of Jan 2017.
The tile floors are new, the crack you saw was from the installation of the new stove. We were more than happy to send in the handyman in to fix it but you did not want us to. The apartment is pet friendly so we do not have furniture that is fussy, just attractive and according to other guests comfortable. This apartment is best suited for easy going guests that appreciate the atmosphere of art, good books and casual living. The items on the balcony were a few extra folded beach chairs, a beach umbrella and a sculpture stand with a decorative pot. My father Raphael Epstein was a well known sculptor in Key West and many of the works of art that fill the apartment he had created on the balcony.
Wonderful Winter Escape!
It was a delight to spend a winter month in this cheerfully warm, tropical paradise! The apt. was bright, and artistically decorated with sculptures and colorful paintings on the wall. It has a nice balcony which overlooks the gardens and swimming pool. The owners were thoughtfull enough to leave a bouquet of flowers and some folding beach chairs for me to use. I enjoyed having my morning tea at the little table on the balcony while listening to the birds tweeting.
The apt. Location was great, literally across the street from the beach, a 10 minute drive to downtown Key West, yet a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle. I rented a bike and the shop sent a chauffeur to pick me up at the complex. It's very easy to bike into town if you don't have a car or just want the exercise and I loved walking along the sea wall across the street heading towards the airport where I saw a small sea turtle in the water, a baby shark, and all kinds of interestng fish!
I loved my stay in this apt and would go back in a heartbeat!
One minute from the beach, enjoy sunrise and sunset just across the street. You can walk to Old Town in ten minutes or to Higgs Beach and the beautiful Martello Gallery.
