Guadalupe Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Full-size Foldout Couch,sleeps 3

Casita de las Estrellas is the epitome of the charming, authentic casita that everyone looks for when visiting Santa Fe, located within a 10-15 min. (.7 mile) walk of old Santa Fe's picturesque plaza. In the summer, enjoy the private flagstone patio/garden area exclusively for the use of Casita de las Estrellas. There is a larger garden area that is for the use of our other two casitas. I have this policy as I feel that when all of the casitas are occupied, that would be too many people to use the larger garden comfortably.

In the winter, cozy up by your own kiva fireplace. The casita is very secluded and quiet, featuring authentic hand-painted Mexican tile and coved ceilings with original vigas, furnished with hand-carved southwestern style furniture. The bedroom features fine linens for a wonderful night's sleep. There is a shower only. Casita de las Estrellas features a full-size sleeper sofa in the living room area. The sunny atmosphere is the result of skylights throughout. Tastefully decorated with attractive artwork and hand-woven rugs. Off-street parking available as well as laundry facilities. Upon your arrival, you will find all the ingredients for a continental breakfast! The casita is maintained with care and pride.

Casita de las Estrellas is the smallest of our three casitas (but still very comfortable and attractively decorated) and that is reflected in the price.

Cooling: The casita does not have central air conditioning. We have provided a portable air conditioner and fans for the summer months if people want to use them. The casita is the original adobe construction which has been used in New Mexico for centuries. The adobe walls keep the casitas cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The only kind of air conditioning that I could put in these historic buildings would be window units and I refuse to do that as they can be quite noisy and unsightly. In addition, in Santa Fe, the nights are about 25-30 degrees cooler than the days, so we do not have hot summer nights.

About Roxanne Connan

My husband and I bought this property more than 13 years ago. I love owning the property and knowing the people who come back year after year. We have lived in Santa Fe for over thirteen years and live a little bit outside of the city limits. We have a 17-year-old son, two collies and a cat.

Roxanne Connan purchased this bungalow in 2002

Why Roxanne Connan chose Santa Fe

When I first saw it, I knew it was the one because of the privacy, quiet and peacefulness. Short walk (10-15 minutes) to the plaza, but less expensive than staying on the East side. A few blocks from the new Railyard.

What makes this bungalow unique

I always put in the makings for a breakfast (cereal, milk, juice, bread, jam, fruit, butter) so people won't have to arrive in the afternoon and then immediately go find a grocery store.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for making my stay in this charming casita so very special! I really appreciated the breakfast food and gift basket too. It was wonderful to have restaurant menus and visitor information available. You have done a wonderful job!

Great Adobe, Excellent Location

  • 4 of 5

The GUADALOPE district or the Aztec district was a wonderful, beautiful & safe area to stay in. I liked it's proximity to the river and the GUADALOPE church. The free bus that takes you to all the Santa Fe high lights was so close & an easy walk. I really appreciated the top notch kitchen> knives, pots and pans.

Everything I could wish for was present there. Parking was tight in the designated area with our 4 door truck so we parked on the street which was fine. We stayed two weeks. I even slept out in the back patio because of the heat and felt safe. Very quiet, Very clean. Good mattress, sheets, pillows, powerful shower but the bedroom sink was awkward as the bed room has lots of large furniture and is tiny. I would suggest a rounded pedestal sink would be more collision friendly for night time bathroom usage..... I appreciate all the thoughtful touches, fresh food when we arrived, laundry, flower boxes, fire wood, large mirrors, and the area. The best place I have stayed in Santa Fe in the 5 X I've been there.

Owner's Response: Dear Mr. & Mrs. B, I am glad that you enjoyed your stay, but sorry that you were not comfortable with the sink in the bedroom. Indeed, having a sink in the bedroom is not ideal, and making room for a queen bed rather than a double. That is why the casita is $100-150 less per week than our other comparably sized casita. Thank you for your kind comments on all of the other aspects of the property. I hope you enjoyed your teachers' symposium at Santa Fe Prep. Our son just graduated from there at the beginning of June. Regards, Roxanne

Beautiful city; Adorable casita!

  • 5 of 5

I'm writing this review as we are packing to leave this beautiful casita. Sigh. It has been a wonderful visit in a city I love made perfect by this adorable home away from home. This is not your fake adobe that has the "look" from the outside but a real adobe with thick walls, viga beam ceilings, kiva type fireplace and brick floors. Our hosts, Andrew and Roxanne made sure we felt welcome with a gift basket full of goodies and breakfast ready so that we wouldn't have to shop that first evening on arrival...such a thoughtful gesture on their part. The casita is within walking distance to the plaza, railroad district and canyon road. We used our car one time the week we were here. Please don't tell too many people about this place because I want to book it for Christmas 2016! Thank you, Andrew and Roxanne, for sharing your home with us. We look forward to many visits in the future.

Great City; Great Place To Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Santa Fe is a great place to visit, and this casita is a great place to stay while you are there. It is in a great location for getting out and seeing the city; it's also a delightful place to just sit and relax at the end of the day. It's within easy walking distance of both the main Santa Fe downtown area and the Railway District--and in a charming neighborhood. The interior is full of the Santa Fe feel--beamed ceilings, curved fireplace, nice furnishings. The hosts have bent over backward to make you feel at home, with a gift basket, first-day groceries, helpful instructions and information, etc. An added bonus is a good stock of information and maps on nearby restaurants and attractions. Highly recommended! We look forward to returning in the near future.

Great little Casitas, well maintained, comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. Casitas was clean, comfortable and a perfect size for a couple. Owner left us a gift basket of snacks, cereal and coffee, as well as milk, butter and OJ in the fridge so we didn't have to shop the first night we arrived, which is a nice touch. Well stocked with soap, towels, detergent, etc. as well. Location is great - walking distance to a number of nice restaurants and the plaza. Our only complaint was that the internet was slow and spotty.

Owner's Response: Dear Ian and Kelli, Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review. I wish you had let us know of your problems with slow internet. There is a signal repeater in the casita that we could have reset for you. Anyway, I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope that you will return in the future. Regards, Roxanne

Charming casita near downtown in quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We spent a month in this darling casita, within walking distance from the Plaza. We also enjoyed being so close to St. Francis, the main north/south road through Santa Fe. Roxanne was always available and offered extra amenities. Important for us, the bed was very comfortable, the towels thick and luxe, and the radiant heat a delight. We would definitely recommend the casita to anyone wishing to locate close in but in a quiet location too.

Owner's Response: Hi Jan, I'm glad that you found the bed to be so comfortable. I'm sure that you can find the same brand and type in Seattle. And thanks again for being the coffee taster and letting us know which you preferred. We could not have asked for any better coffee judges; a couple from Seattle! Hope you are able to return sometime. Roxanne

Charming. Tastefully appointed.

  • 5 of 5

I spent an entire month at this adorable casita and could not have been more pleased. The high coved ceilings made it feel larger. Can't wait to return for the Christmas holidays!
