Charming Renovated Farmhouse On 13 Acres

The Green Gate Farmhouse is one of two exceptional vacation rentals on our historic 13 acre property (see our other listings for the barn home and log cabin also on this property). This recently renovated farmhouse features 1.5 baths, a private bedroom with queen bed, and a loft area with three twin beds. A well-appointed kitchen and beautiful maple slab dining table are provided for your dining enjoyment. Guests enjoy our enclosed back porch and screened front porch for lounging during the warm months. Modern amenities such as ac, direct tv, and complimentary wifi are provided.

About Shawn Callahan

I am a degreed professional (mechanical engineering as well as nutrition science) with a variety of talents and interests. In addition to a 'corporate' engineering career, i have worked in the natural foods industry (various roles over several years at a food co-op), nutritional counseling, and residential construction and design. For the past several years, i have been dedicated to the restoration of green gate guest houses- our one-of-a-kind lodging properties in northern mn.

Why Shawn Callahan chose Minnesota

Our 13 acre property was a former mining town, then a large family farm for much of the past century. In addition to the rich history of this property, it is also unique located on a private setting between the small town of Biwabik and the Giants Ridge Recreation Area.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Our property is bordered by the the Embarrass River, providing private water access to our guests for lounging and swimming. Two sandy beaches on nearby Embarrass Lake are within walking/biking distance. We are also located just a block off the Mesabi Bike Trail, 1 mile from The Quarry golf Course and 3 miles from Giants Ridge Ski Area (both nordic and alpine skiing/snowboarding and tubing options).

Wonderful place--has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay.

Loved the screened porch and fire pit, that had all the makings for a roaring fire stacked nearby. The place is peaceful and beautiful. Last year I stayed in the barn home and this year in the farmhouse. Although very different, they are equally comfortable and well-equipped. Next year I hope to try out the log cabin!

Beautiful grounds, Clean and well appointed house! We loved it!

My husband and I brought our 2 young boys up North for a winter vacation and this was the PERFECT place! We enjoyed hiking around the property and using the fire pit to enjoy the clear starry evening. The barn house was so great for our family. The kitchen had everything we needed to make all of our meals, the couch in the living space was super comfy, all the blankets and quilts on the beds were very cozy. The decorations in the house were all great, the attention to detail just fantastic. I can't say enough about how well appointed this house was! Dealing with Shawn was a breeze, he was quick to respond to all of our questions. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to have a getaway, the vicinity to Giants Ridge, Biwabik and a lot of other fun stuff is just perfect! We're coming back for sure!

The best place to stay at the Ridge!

We have stayed at Shawn's Farmhouse for the past 2 winters and we absolutely LOVE it! It has been meticulously renovated and the decoration and design is awesome. Has everything you need and Shawn is a great host - if you have any questions at all, he is easy to reach. I just wish we could stay longer!

Awesome stay!

Great experience at the farmhouse. It was close to the slopes and ski trails. Our kids loved the bunks. My only complaint would be the extra firm bed. But we adjusted. We rented both the farmhouse and the barn with another family and it was great for together time and quiet time when needed. thanks for the wonderful stay!

the farm house

we went a for visit in Feb 2016 from a friend's recommendation. We had a ball! Beautiful decorating , comfortable house for whole the family. So , we signed up for Dec and Jan and March , too
