Sea Rocks House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms And 2 Baths With An Ocean View And Close To Beaches (Sleeps 6)

We are offering clean, comfortable, attractive and reasonably priced accommodations in our house located in the less-commercial East End of Anguilla. Available are 2 bedrooms each with its own bath/shower.

NOTE: In addition to the main house, we have a studio apartment with a separate entrance complete with cooking facilities. The studio sleeps 2 adults comfortably but can accommodate more if necessary. The studio can be rented separately or as part of the entire house, making 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. The rate quoted is for the house only.

Also, a renter may opt not to rent the entire house, but a bedroom/bath instead, like a B&B.

The bedrooms are roomy enough for a couple to be comfortable (approximately 9x12) and, if necessary, a trundle bed can be added to accommodate a child. There is also a TV in the living room area. We have WiFi throughout the house including the studio and a flatscreen television. There is plenty of parking space on the property for rented vehicles. Of course, all guests have full use of the large and comfortable porch which offers a spectacular view of the sea.

The house has a galley-style kitchen which is well-equipped for cooking. Our homegrown herbs and any vegetables in season are available to guests for the picking. We also offer the option of moderately priced dinners for those who may want to 'eat at home' now and then - caught, grown, cooked and served by your hosts. If not, wonderful restaurants abound around the island ranging from expensive international cuisine to locally grilled side-of-the-road fare. Up here in Island Harbour are 3 local spots where locals and visitors like to gather to eat, drink and sometimes dance: Everett';s Pelican Bar, Mutt's Falcon Nest, and On de Rocks. For a quiet, more intimate dining experience, Elite on the beach is a good choice.

But those guests staying a week or more need not worry about the first night's meal after a long day of travel because dinner at 100% Local will be on us (a full meal). All guests will be offered a complimentary cocktail (try Ambroses's rum punch or pina colada) upon arriving.

What makes 100% Local unique is what the name implies: accommodating, knowledgeable local hosts who will be delighted to provide all guests a truly Anguillan experience including island tours, fishing excursions, snorkeling adventures, and excellent Caribbean style meals. All this comes with a great view, great service, and for a reasonable price.

There's no need to 'worry 'bout a ting' here at 100% Local!

About Susan Sayre or Ambrose Bryan

Susan: I grew up in Fall River, Massachusetts, married and moved away for a time, returned, remarried and lived the last 25 years in Rhode Island where I raised a son, earned a Masters degree, gardened and taught in a vocational high school. I moved to Anguilla full time this past August.

Currently, I teach writing classes for the local community college in , a job which allows me flexibility and satisfaction.

I enjoy cooking and entertaining, as does Ambrose, along with the simple pleasures of life: good food, good friends, good movies, books, conversation and music, a sunny beach. While I have traveled in my past life, I am content at this time to stay put on Anguilla with a yearly trip stateside to visit friends and family.

Ambrose: I am a native Anguillan. When I was 15, I left Anguilla on a boat and spent the next five years in Puerto Rico where I learned to speak Spanish. At 21 I moved to St Martin and lived there for 23 years raising my 3 children and working in some of the finer restaurants as a bartender and maitre'd. I've been back on Anguilla since 1994 working all over the island in most of the restaurants in many capacities (once as a chef but mostly as a bartender and maitre'd), fishing and growing herbs. I think of myself as a gregarious, outgoing person who loves meeting people, sharing Anguilla's history and culture and enjoying some of our more popular past-times - like dominoes and dancing. I am an avid fisherman and an enthusiastic gardener serving at my table what I pull from the sea and what my garden yields.

Why Susan Sayre or Ambrose Bryan chose Anguilla

I, Susan, have been coming to Anguilla for over 20 years and Ambrose was born and raised here in the Island Harbour area.

We know it as the less-commercial end of the island and the Searocks is a particularly quiet, safe neighborhood with a mixture of locals, ex-pats and regular renters. And as we point out in our photos and our property description, we have a great view!

What makes this house unique

Again, the greatest benefit to staying at 100% Local is the attention and expertise of your hosts.

Totally Relax No Worries

  • 5 of 5

The house was well-stocked, and decorated with unique art. We had every convenience one needs to totally relax, including a gorgeous veranda with a fantastic view of the ocean! And his rum punch and his fish dinner is out of this world!! Location is very good, with just a short drive (1 to 5 minutes) to great restaurants, supermarkets, and the beaches at Island Harbor or Shoal Bay. Mr. Ambrose greeted my siblings and I immediately upon our arrival from St. Martin. From that moment on, Mr. Ambrose's warmth, accessibility, and hospitality for us were unparalleled! It was also nice to have such a kind locals, who know so much about the island, available for tips on restaurants and things to do. Mr. Ambrose also checked in with us every morning to ask if we needed anything. We hope to stay here every time we return to Anguilla!

We like our stay but there are some problems

  • 3 of 5

I and my husband we like the large and spacious sitting and dining room and also the two bedrooms each with its bathrooms , but the kitchen really need to be renewed! The view from the porch isn't outstanding on the contrary a little sad because the colour of the sea is always dark. If we should come back to Anguilla we should find another solution

Owner's Response: First, I would like to thank you for leaving the house so clean and tidy upon your departure. I agree that the kitchen needs some updating, something over which we have no control since we are property managers and not owners. But, it is a kitchen in which you could cook a good meal, right?l We cannot control the color of the sea. It's unfortunate and a little puzzling that you found such a peaceful, expansive view "a little sad". It's also regretable that you failed to mentiion the excellent service you received from us throughout your stay: we arrenged your car rental, we met you at the airport, we served you complimentary rum punches, we helped you with dinner reservations, etc. For the price in comparison with other villa rentals in Anguilla, I have to say you got your money's worth. Since you are a person who speaks her mind, I thought you'd understand my speaking mine.

This is the place to stay!!!

  • 5 of 5

If you want a truly relaxing getaway, I highly recommend staying here. Not only did Ambrose and Susan meet us at the ferry but took us to the supermarket before we got to their beautiful house. Staying at Ambrose and Susan’s 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment is like being home. The space is extremely inviting and warm. Eating out on the veranda, or just hanging out on the couches drinking rum punches, overlooking the ocean is tranquil and calming. The kitchen is well appointed and has all the things one needs to do any kind of cooking or entertaining, including wine glasses. The living room and dining room is spacious. The bedrooms are nice sized with a large closet and dressers. The bathrooms have large showers.

One of the nicest things ever was that Ambrose and Susan cooked us a welcoming dinner, complete with wine. It is so nice to get to know your landlord and break bread. Ambrose was extremely concerned that everything was okay and even gave us a loaner cell phone for local calls, which was unexpected. He came by every morning to water his beautiful garden full of flowers and gave us recommendations of places to eat. I truly recommend staying at their beautiful house for a 100% local experience. We can’t wait to get to see them again.

A spacious, well-furnished home with gorgeous view

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were very pleased with our first-time rental of this home, which is a short drive from what we consider to be the best beach on the island. (We've been to Anguilla many times.) The house is clean, comfortable, has a well-equipped kitchen, good-sized bedrooms and a long porch with a great view of East Shoal Bay.

The hosts, Susan and Ambrose, made us feel welcome from the start and were very attentive to our needs. They even met us at the ferry dock when we arrived. On our first night, they served us a delicious dinner centered on fresh fish that Ambrose had caught, and also joined us for the meal. It was a very relaxing and sociable way to begin our vacation.

We would gladly recommend this property to friends and relatives.

Our house is located on the Searocks in resort-free Island Harbour with a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean. Within walking distance are eateries and bars where guests can socialize with the locals and dance to island music. If you visit late March to early April, you can enjoy the wildly popular 3-day Festival Del Mar.

In Island Harbour there 2 churches: Baptist and Anglican. For quick, last-minute food shopping, Mac's Anchor Market is within walking distance. Otherwise, Anguilla has several 'super' markets to which you must drive, but where, with a bit of 'hunting and gathering', a savvy shopper should find just about everything.

Speaking of walking, a car is essential for exploring Anguilla. There is no reliable public transport. We will be happy to arrange for a car rental in advance of your arrival.

What makes 100% Local unique is what the name implies: accommodating, knowledgeable local hosts who will be delighted to provide all guests a truly Anguillan experience including island tours, fishing excursions, snorkeling adventures, and excellent Caribbean style meals.
