The owner, Bruce, was a factory worker, logger, newspaper reporter, PR flunkie, and unpublished fiction writer before he discovered computers and lost all interest in reality. He spent 12 years in a computer fog, but gave it all up to move to the Silver City area in 1999. He is now in recovery, but does find time to manage an office building and a few other business projects in town.
The Owner purchased this house in 1999
Bruce lived in this beautiful house for five years before turning it into a vacation rental. If you don't book it, he probably will. It's a sacred place that he likes to share with others.
Beyond us are only a couple of tiny communities and a hundred miles of wilderness. In this secluded environment, you can hear the diverse sounds of many different varieties of birds, view the Milky Way amidst the dark, starry night skies, watch breath-taking sunsets right from the living room, and hike many nearby trails all the while reconnecting with the natural world AND your own inner landscape.
A beautiful place for us to truly enjoy! A wonderful home and such a beautiful site.
Great place to stay, close enough for supplies if needed but far away from everyday hustle. We loved staying at the Agave house and will definitely return. The home and surroundings are beautiful. Thanks for having us.
The amenities in the house and views from both inside and outside patio areas are amazing. The proximity to Silver City and Nation Forrest points of interest is very convenient. The customer service Maryam provided was excellent, second to none and greatly appreciated. We will definitely be back.
Even though we arrived in a snowstorm in early January and weren't able to get our 4-wheel drive vehicle up the driveway--it was still a great place to stay! Our group of four adults had beautiful hikes in the snow, comfortable meals surrounded by gorgeous views from every window, and relaxing evenings. We loved the radiant heat floors when our bare feet hit them first thing in the morning! Everything in the house was immaculate and in good working order. As a textile artist I especially appreciated the lovely art throughout the house and the owners' thoughtful description of each piece in the informational folder for the house.
Our group enjoyed excursions to Silver City, the Gila Cliff Dwellings, and the Buckhorn Saloon in Pinos Altos. We found the location lovely and well situated to explore the area. We'd definitely return and recommend it to friends.
The peace and quiet was great. If you are looking to relax and enjoy the mountains this one fits the bill. Thanks to all
Wonderful weekend get away in the Gila. Wonderful kitchen so we could cook gourmet meals again. Fantastic bird life right outside the doors, hiking possibilities right out of the doors as well. Relaxing retreat. No swamp coolers, but with fans and the afternoon monsoon the house cooled off. Very artfully decorated.
