About terry or justine

Justine and I love the outdoors, we go boating often and enjoy getting away from the crowds at the end of the day.We purchased our beach house in march 2013 and have put our heart and sole into the place ever since. The fishing, crabbing, endless selection of restaurants and night life made the decision to buy our second home here easy.

terry or justine purchased this house in 2013

Why terry or justine chose Delaware

You will not hear traffic all night yet can be in the heart of it all or out on the water where the crabbing has been excellent in 10 minutes or less. Value, only 3 miles to the ocean for a fraction of the price.

What makes this house unique

3100 acre assawoman wildlife refuge is a mile away for biking ,hiking, boating or duck and deer hunting. Many beaches close by so you can mix it up and choose a new place each day, and never worry about where to park or traffic when you come back for the evening.

Great country home

  • 5 of 5

The house was great the location better close to beaches, small towns and shops. Definitely private setting house has all amenities.

The only issue was the kitchenware and toaster appliances, utensils were old and worn needs a good overhaul on replacement.

The family room area needs to have furniture replaced old outdated and a little bit of an odor. Internet very sluggish and poor phone reception but that's could be just the area.

Otherwise I would highly recommend this for any family stay.

Warm and cozy

  • 5 of 5

We are repeat guests. We love it. We love the wood stove. Its spacious, yet warm and cozy. Its private, yet in a great location. Its a cabin, yet near the ocean. Its like cheese-and-wine, or steak-and-ale. Yum.

Very secluded but so close to the beach and to downtown Bethany

  • 5 of 5

The house was fantastic. Great location, and it felt like a mountain house so close to the beach and other great places. Rooms were very clean, and we had a really nice time.

Nice & Secluded

  • 4 of 5

Nice house, clean, very secluded and private. Good customer service. Having washer and dryer was great. Only suggestion I have for owners is to add more lighting above kitchen sink/cooking area. Our group enjoyed Rehoboth most for beachtime, Bethany Beach for shopping and Ocean City for nightlife.

Good Stay

  • 4 of 5

Just as advertised. We were there for a short stay attending a function locally. The house suited our needs just fine and we were happy to be able to do this as the owner, Terry , was quite sensitive to our needs. All staying were quite impressed with the house.

Close to the beach but away from it all!

  • 5 of 5

This is the vacation spot for introverts. As a previous reviewer mentioned, it's "her" beach get away and "his" wooded retreat, the perfect compromise for the vacationing couple. The house is about a 10 minute drive from the totem pole and bustle of downtown Bethany. A quiet residential street turns into a winding country road that takes you to the foot of the shaded stone driveway of the property. Bring your mosquito spray if you plan to sit on the deck or porch, you are indeed in the woods. If you see an owl on the outhouse in the back yard, it's not a statue, it is your friendly nocturnal neighbor.

The house has been nicely updated. The stone chimney is reminiscent of a mountain lodge while the tile floors and beach decor keep your mind at the ocean. The kitchen is fully stocked, but don't forget a sponge or dish detergent to run the dishwasher and wash your dishes before you leave. The water smells a little funky, but as a veteran vacationer of the Delaware/Maryland shoreline, I know this comes with the territory.

The lot is well shaded, keeping the house comfortably cool despite the AC unit being on the second floor. Fans adorn the ceiling in every room, offering additional air flow to cool you down once the sun does heat the roof. The was virtually no traffic or noise pollution at night time.

A bike or scooter ride into town would be great to avoid the trouble of finding and paying for parking however the property is located on some winding roads with narrow or no shoulders (and aggressive drivers). It would also be a bit of a trek for a child or novice on a bike.

Paper towels and toilet paper and hand soap were stocked, no need to bring your own. We did not use the pull out couch but the living room was strategically furnished to allow quick room for it. I would assume you would need to bring your own blanket if you plan to use it, I did not see any extra linens. The second floor offered extra room for air mattresses

Vacationing with a 9 month old, the open tile floor plan made great fun for our daughter in her walker, which leads me to believe a person with a walker/crutches/wheel chair would do well on the first floor (once up the front steps). Bring a gate for any toddler curious and capable enough to venture upstairs. Our daughter cleared the shelf of all the helpful visitor guides and maps, but that's the only thing she was able to disturb. The decor was placed high and scarce enough for tiny hands to never find it.

Lovely stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your time to write a nice review, we are happy to hear you had a great vacation. There are two items in your review I feel need clarification, we do not have a pull out sofa/bed . The second item is what may appear to be an outhouse is actually an outside bathroom which has water, a flushing toilet , and is connected to the septic system. Thanks again for the great review! We appreciate your business and hope to see you soon.
