This is a quite, private, maintained Historical Ranch House. A place to relax & enjoy family, friends, and yes of course the Facilities...
As you drive up the property you will notice an historical school on your left, This is when you realize your about to experience something very special. The road takes you across the cattle guard with 20 plus Oak Trees towering over you from both sides of the road. You will notice cattle grazing on the left but your attention will keep you staring right...
The right side of the road sits the Historical Home with the Texas Flag welcoming you into the Gate. The home is surrounded by wooden fence to keep the cattle out. The Barn opens into a Large Party Barn with walk around decks, inside has Pool Table, ping pong table, neon signs, 3 flat screen TVs, frig, music, etc... 'kids really enjoy it and it allows the adults to relax back at the main house'.
The trees light up at night around the pool and the Covered Terrace. The Terrace has a large outdoor grill as well as a fire pit for the kids to sit around at night. The hot tub seems to be a nice touch at the end of the evening as well. The tennis court is a full size court so be sure to bring your racquets. Horse shoes and washers are a daily sport as well as biking and walking the property. Bring your bucket to fill with pecans also...

Marc Chase, grew up in Austin, TX and still lives there with Wife Marta and 3 kids. Love to Travel with Family and use VRBO as it allows us to enjoy the comfort of a true family home.
Marc & Marta Chase purchased this house in 2005
Fell in Love with Property from the moment we stepped in the Front Door. Above is two pictures of the home from the early 1900's. The home has a true sense of History and how life might have been before Cell Phones and Direct TV.
This property allows us the opportunity to escape the fast lifestyle of the City and Relax under the stars in the Country without the kids complaining their 'bored'!
We had such a great time at the house. The house is beautiful. I'm hoping to rent again in the summer with my family. Thank you so much!
The house was great for what we needed on our girls weekend. It accommodated our large group with plenty of room! Harrison was fabulous and was there for us if we ever needed anything. All the girls had such a great time. Can't wait to be back!
So much to do, and a beautiful setting. the house and grounds were perfect for our weekend celebration.
My family and I had a lovely trip here over Christmas! The house is just adorable, and it will be a holiday we will not all soon forget. Some of the positives:
1. There were a ton of activities to enjoy - horseshoes, golf cart, pool, ping pong, hot tub.
2. The owners were so helpful with all of our questions and very hospitable (as was the caretaker of the property).
3. Fredericksburg is a cute town with great shops and wonderful wineries around the area.
4. The house had wonderful sitting areas and a long dinner table that fit everyone.
5. They had decorated for Christmas which was so helpful.
6. There is a lovely firepit outdoor area.
7. The property itself is pretty with beautiful drives around the property as well.
So many positives in regards to this VRBO. To be fair to other guests there were a couple things to work on.
1. Coffee Maker - I'm not sure if this was user error, but we had trouble getting a pot to brew properly. We ended up just buying some instant coffee. This was hard for coffee fanatics in the house.
2. Outlets - Due to the historical nature of the house there were some issues with the outlets working. All the women needing outlets had to come use the front bedroom ones, but I'm not sure any of the bathroom outlets worked.
3. Fridges - Barn worked great. Back fridge was a little warm. Front fridge didn't close tight. It did the job and kept cool enough, but again I think this is due to the older nature of the house.
4. Upstairs 2 rooms - This may be our fault because we had 3 babies in the house, but we had one adult in one of the upstairs room and a couple and a baby in the other room upstairs. Just as an fyi it is open, so everyone can hear everything up there. And try and put a short person upstairs, because we had a tall football player and it was definitely tight quarters.
The negatives were really minor compared to the overall great memories we made. And we would definitely book the house again if we ever return to Fredericksburg. Thank you to the owners for such an amazing experience!
All and All we were very happy with the house / pool / and grounds. My one complaint is that the listing on VRBO states that there is internet at the house. Once I got there and called I was informed that the house did not have it. We were planning on working from the house one of our days. I have asked the owner for a rebate for the lack of internet. So far they have not responded.
The house + grounds were even better than expected! We used every amenity available to us.
We had 4 families - 8 adults + 6 kids (ages 4, 5, 6, 6, 7 and 9). The kids played musical beds most nights, but everyone slept comfortably between the bunk beds, sleeper sofa and extra mattress - although for 1 of the 3 nights the bunk beds did not get used at all - the kids all piled in the living room + library. Adults slept fine as well - all the beds were comfortable. It is important for guests to understand that the 2 upstairs bedrooms are entered from outside the home and one of them requires a high step to get in + out - this was not an issue for us though. The upstairs guests were most definitely guaranteed the best night sleep as well as able to sleep in a bit longer since all the kids were inside the main house.
The Party Barn was a huge hit for our group...the kids enjoyed hanging out there during the day and the adults in the evening after all the littles went to bed.
Pool + Hot Tub....despite the pool being too cool for the adults to enjoy the kids had no problem taking a dip and then warming up in the spa. There was plenty of room for every child....and plenty of room for all the dads! Unfortunately, the moms never got a chance to unwind together, but I'm fairly certain it could have accommodated all the adults together.
Tennis Courts...there were only a few tennis players amongst us and no serious tennis games went down, but the kids had fun running on the court and tossing balls. There are plenty of balls + rackets should guests be interested in a more serious competition. Court lights would be a nice addition.
Fire Pit, Pavilion, BBQ, Oversized Chess Game + Washers...we used it ALL! The fire pit in my opinion is uniquely designed - perfect for littles and accommodates a lot of people. I've never seen one like it and was a perfect hang out spot in the evenings. The outdoor space it what really makes this place work for larger groups! But I must add that more outdoor lighting would be a nice addition especially with it getting darker earlier this time of year...several tree lights were burned out - having those working may have made all the difference.
Overall - the group was very satisfied with our stay and we plan to make it an annual trip for years to come!
The historical home was so rich in character, but offered all the luxury's of modern accommodations. The property itself was worth the stay. It was interesting to read about the history of the home. The stars in the evening were so amazing.
There were 7 in our party and we all slept comfortably. The only concern we had was in one of the bathrooms there was a free standing tub. That was a bit of a challenge for my 86 year old mother.
The property was clean and the grounds keeper, Harrison, was very helpful in instructing us on all the pool, spa and equipment .
Location is the best!!!!!! You are just minutes to Main street in Fredericksburg , but far enough from the hustle and bustle of the town. We enjoyed shopping, winery hopping, and sight seeing during the day, and the quiet of the country at night. The party barn was a hit with tv's and pool table.
Marc, the owner was so nice to work with. He was easy to reach and very accommodating. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends. And we hope to return as well.
