About John Cox
We are John and Sandee Cox and we have been married for 33 years and have six children and two grandchildren. Originally we are from Texas and have lived in Nashville for 23 years. I am a singer songwriter and have a remodelling company and built this house in 2009 doing most of the work myself. My wife, Sandee, is a doula. We are excited to share our slice of heaven with you.
John Cox purchased this House in 2009
Why John Cox chose Pennington Bend
Because its stunning to watch the river roll by. It also feels like you are in a different world yet everything is super close by. Its so much easier to make beautiful memories if you are in a beautiful place!
What makes this House unique
We built this home ourselves in 2009 and we love antiques. That is why every piece has a story. It really is like stepping back in time. 1 KING BED,, 3 QUEEN BEDS,, 4 TWIN BEDS,, ALL WITH MEMORY FOAM MATTRESSES,, ALSO A TANKLESS HOT WATER HEATER..!!! A masseuse is available at request!!!

This house was beyond what was expected! John kept in touch and was very quick to answer any questions we had. I will be back in the future! I fell in love with this house!
Can’t wait to go back.
This was a great place for our bachelorette group of 12. Tons of communal space and large kitchen so that we could all hang out in the same space. The views of the river were wonderful and John was super quick to respond to anything we needed. He was very accommodating - offered us all sorts of amenities and items that were appreciated- and allowed a few of us to check in early so that we didn’t have to carry bags around the morning we arrived. It was an easy Uber drive to downtown and a nice escape from the crazy party scene. Tons of comfortable beds, fluffy towels, and the WATER WAS ALWAYS HOT even with 12 girls taking shower after shower. Highly recommend!
John & Sandee's place was PERFECT! The home was beautiful - fabulous southern charm! John was great to work with, we all thoroughly enjoyed the pontoon boat ride to Broadway as well! The house was perfect for our group of 12 and we all agreed being off the beaten path was ideal, we were able to enjoy Nashville but also felt like we were in the country. Honestly can't say enough about the owner's, the property and our overall experience other than we'd highly recommend and we will be back! Thanks you sooooo much!
Nashville's best Place To Stay
This river house was better than what I expected. The pictures are accurate but the actual location of the house, the river view, the decor, the size, and the vibe exceeded all of our expectations! I was part of a 12 person group. Everyone had super comfortable beds including my son who was on a memory foam floor mattress in the master bedroom. We would start our mornings off by drinking our coffee in the rocking chairs on the porch watching the river flow by. Then we would make a huge breakfast (the kitchen has everything you could possibly need) and eat in the beautiful dining area. Then we would be off and about for most of the day. The house's location is close to the Grand Ole Opry, about 20 minutes from downtown, 2 hours from Lynchburg, 1 hour from Franklin, and 20 minutes from the 12th South area. After we saw the town, we would come back to the house and enjoy the spa, sitting in the rocking chairs, or sitting in the large living room reminiscing about our fun day. The time we spent on the property was just as memorable as the fun sights that we saw in Nashville. One of our favorite days was when John took us for a ride up the river in his pontoon boat and dropped us off in downtown. John was fun and gave us some cool information about the house and the area (Thanks John!). I will definitely come back to Nashville, but I would not stay anywhere else besides The River House. It was truly a big part of our experience!
This house and location are great for a group and you get the best of both worlds: easy Country life with an amazing view, AND so close to all the Nashville action of downtown and Opryland. The owner is a great communicator and very knowledgeable about Nashville. The vibe of the house is very Nashville shabby chic!
Our home is the Opry Mills area of Nashville. The Grand Ole Opry and Opryland Hotel are just a little over one mile up the road. Our neighborhood is known as Music Valley. Within the area we have Opry Mills Outlet Mall which includes a 20 screen theater and an IMAX 3D. More activities all within 4 miles are two golf courses, wave pool, skate park, miles of beautiful greenways, frisbie golf course, large park with playground. Pack your comfy shoes because Nashville has countless sights to see. Down town is always jumpin! Live music day and night. Many sights include : The Ryman auditorium, Country Music Hall of Fame, The Frist Museum, The Parthenon in Centennial Park, The State Capitol, Tennessee Performing Arts Center, The Tennessee State Museum (FREE!!!!), War Memorial, The Farmers Market, Bridgestone Arena for big concerts and don't forget LP Field for Titan's football games.
