I was born and raised in Lyndonville, Vt. I moved to Island Pond 13 years ago. I am an avid snowmobiler and enjoy cruising around the pond on my pontoon boat with my Grandchildren, Family, Friends and my 2 labs, Ozzy and Luka.
Owner/Property Manager purchased this house in 2013
I purchased this property from my friend and neighbor and for the love of Island Pond..
Large yet warm & cozy, Modern Living with rustic touch and private! With Bedrooms and Living Rooms on 1st and 2nd Floor this house is perfect for large family or multiple families. Very immaculate! With over 160' of clean, clear shallow lake front, perfect for families. Four large bedrooms with awesome beds, 2 full baths, two living rooms with new furniture, 2 1/2 bay attached garage, fire pit by the beach. All the comforts of country lakeside living! Located on VAST trails.
The property is equipped with every amenity. It is immersed in natural beauty. The host is dedicated to ensuring your stay will be the most enjoyable. Over the past several decades of staying at many lovely properties throughout the beautiful state of Vermont, I rank this property as superior to all of them.
Our experiences mirror that of other reviewers from summer 2016: “Amazing, awesome, wonderful, incredible and perfection in every way”. If VRBO allowed more stars, we would give 6 out 5. Mark’s Island Pond getaway in the NEK is without a doubt the best summer place our family has ever rented. We loved that it was a complete turnkey rental…just add locally grown food from the area farmer’s markets and Libby’s Meats in Lyndonville and that’s it. Mark provides everything else including his welcoming and warm hospitality. We mostly stayed on the property for the two weeks we were there as we just could not get enough of the pristine lake, the loons…oh the loons, the bald eagle, the views and the covered porch. Just amazing. Once you go you will never ever want to leave.
We had a very good experience on Blueberry Lane. The house had everything you could need to be comfortable. The "pond" was great for kids and adults to enjoy. We would definitely stay there again. Mark is a great owner and responds to any need you might have.
This was our first time here (August 2016) and definitely going back. We have been using online rentals and stayed at many different places around New England over the last 10-15 years and this was easily our favorite. An easy ride up 91, no NH lakes or Cape traffic to deal with. House is at the end of a private, very quiet road, when you drive up you feel as though you are arriving at an estate as the property is lined by tall hedges on both sides and meticulously manicured. There's a great mud/entry room into the kitchen. Once inside the house, all the walls and ceiling are done in beautiful, modern, light colored knotty pine which makes the house feel incredibly comfortable and is very relaxing. Everything you need is there including dishwasher, washer, dryer, high speed internet, fans in all the rooms. The house is very nicely decorated and furnished, including great vintage wooden games set out in each of the upstairs and downstairs living rooms. Everything either is or seemed very new, and it was absolutely immaculate. All 3 lower level rooms facing the lake out back (dining room, living room, great master bedroom) have glass/screened sliders out to the porch. And as comfortable as the inside is, you wont want to leave the porch once out there. It is fully covered with the knotty pine on the ceiling of the porch as well which looks amazing. 2 large tables, tons of comfortable table chairs, a nice couch, hanging chair and very high quality super sturdy hammock, and the grill. We spent all our time out here when we weren't on the lake or sleeping. A lower outer deck and steps lead down to a massive, flat beautiful lawn complete with playscape, volleyball net, and horseshoes -real sand pits which were actually raked when we arrived! Beyond that is a great long sandy beach which very gradually gets deeper. Plenty of shallow area. Tons of water toys are right there including 2 paddle boats and paddle boards. canoes, kayaks. Also just beyond the dock is a floating swim dock. About a quarter mile down the road is a free public boat launch. The lake is gorgeous and was very quiet, esp midweek. Mark, the owner is super nice, very accommodating, and extremely responsive. Do not hesitate to book here, you will love it.
I tried to find a vacation spot that would keep everyone busy. Well I found it and we never left the house!!! This house is amazing. Mark has thought of everything when he stocked this house. Most rentals have average furniture and empty cabinets. Not this one. Cabinets full of pantry items, flashlights, postcards, stamps, beach towels, water toys, towels, sheets, toiletries, etc. The bookcases stocked with books, games, movies, you name it. Furniture all very nice and comfy. We felt like we were at home. The outside is spectacular with all the boats, dock and water toys. Everyone kept busy fishing and swimming. Kid played corn hole, volleyball and soccer all things they found in Marks supply closets. An added surprise was the covered porch so even on rainy days we could spend time outdoors relaxing and playing games. You won't go wrong with this house. My family wants to make this our annual vacation spot!!
Our extended family of 7 adults and 3 kids aged 9, 11, and 13 had an amazing vacation here! Every single thing was thought of and provided and beyond. There was so much to do for everyone of all ages. The kids loved the float and paddle boats, and the adults loved the covered porch and fire pit at night. The hammocks were always occupied by someone reading. The property was private, relaxing and exactly as pictured. Mark was great to work with and very hospitable. Beds were probably the most comfortable I've experienced (this was our 6th summer rental across many states) and the ceiling fans and especially the box fans in each room were greatly appreciated. A trip to Ben and Jerry's was fun and highly recommend Cow Palace in Derby for dinner. You won't be disappointed staying here, highly recommend!!!
Island Pond, located in the Town of Brighton, is known to be a beautiful and quiet Northeast Kingdom town. Perhaps one of Vermont’s best kept secrets, Island Pond’s natural beauty consists of pristine Island Pond Lake, the historical district and Bluff Mountain. Together they provide many recreational activities throughout the year.
With miles of trails and wide open spaces, Island Pond has become the Snowmobile Capital of Vermont. Tourists can also enjoy other outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, swimming, hiking, biking, canoeing, horseback riding, cross-country and downhill skiing, and scenic lake cruises. In the fall, the foliage offers spectacular scenery for outdoor enthusiasts. In the winter, there are plenty of snowmobile trails to enjoy. One of the town’s major annual events is the Fourth of July celebration featuring a parade, music in the park, arts and crafts, vendors, games, fireworks and more. Friday Night Live every Friday night June through August.
Island Pond is famous internationally for being one of the first international railroad junctions in the United States, and our often-photographed railroad station. The town experienced economic growth in 1853 when the St. Lawrence and Atlantic Railroad (the first international railroad), included Brighton as the stop between Portland, Maine and Montreal, Canada.
We Also have a fine library and a wonderful lake side park.
