About Lynn & Paul
Our Lake Hodges home was the first single family home my husband and I purchased in 1990. Raising two of our three boys in the home was the best upbringing I could have given them. The Del Dios area is truly a unique place that I could let my children explore nature, canoe, kayak and fish with their friends. In 2001 my third son was born and we had to make a decision to remodel or add onto our cute and quaint lake home. We decided to move 1 mile away on the other side of the lake because taking away the integrity of the home was not an option. Our plans are to move back to the lake home once our youngest son moves off to college. Both my husband and myself grew up in San Diego area and attended college here as well. We are excited for this opportunity to open our house up for guests to experience what we have been able to have in this home.
Lynn & Paul purchased this Cottage in 1990
Why Lynn & Paul chose Del Dios
Before we had children we purchased a condo in Solana Beach. When our first son was born we decided that it was time to buy a home. My husband was driving his motorcycle and stumbled upon the community of Del Dios aka "Valley of the Gods". Because of the excellent weather and of course the lake, it felt right. The small town, it's vicinity and a country feeling was so appealing, it wasn't long before we found our home in the community. At first, we were torn about leaving the beach area but soon became impressed with the total culture. We lived there for 16 years before making the decision to move where we now, still in Del Dios still close to the lake.
What makes this Cottage unique
Seasonal rates ... From Beaches to Del Mar race track to the San Diego Safari Park, Disneyland to Mexico, the Lake House is the most centralized location available in San Diego Co. Our home is half way up a gentle sloping road. It is one of three homes on the street. The living room has 4 giant picture windows that look out to the lake with mountains as the backdrop. It's about 100 yards to the lakes shore with trails that I have walked my dogs, biked, and jogged more times than I can count over the years. Although it is not a large home, it has an open feeling with the kitchen flowing into the living room and decks. There are three decks that surround the house. One of which is off the kitchen which makes a great place to have your morning cup of coffee or watch the moonrise reflect off the lake. Over the years the other two decks have provided us excellent places to have family barbecues and gatherings. In the yard, we have done lots of gardening and landscaping throughout the years. It's a nice area for children to play in. Many different plants and trees add to the old growth that make for a lovely scape and walk through the yard. We have also built a large kennel for pets which will suit visitors with pets needs when your out on adventures or shopping at the mall or local stores. There are great views surrounding the property and many trails to enjoy running, hiking and biking. Once you wake up to the sunrise between the local mountains you know you'r in the "Valley of the Gods" We hope you'll enjoy our lake house just as all our past guests have.

Eclectic, comfortable bungalow in quiet area. The property has easy lake access with a great running trail and is close to San Diego area zoos and theme parks. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Paul was very responsive and helpful!
Thanks you for being such great guests, we hope to have you back again.
The perfect place to regroup and relax
We couldn't have enjoyed our stay at the Lake House more. In the middle of a move, we needed a place to hang our hat and make sure our dog was comfortable. From the house, you can easily walk the trails along Lake Hodges, head to Hernandez Hideaway from a drink and dinner, or simply relax on the patio and listen to the variety of birds. The neighbors are quiet, people keep to themselves. The house itself is fully equipped for an overnight stay, or even one a bit longer. Lynn and Paul are the perfect hosts, checking in on us occasionally to see if we needed anything and even sharing stories about their family, the house and the history of Del Dios. We will return if we are ever in the area.
We had the most amazing stay.
This lake house is the perfect getaway and retreat. Fabulous yard and such a relaxing environment. I will recommend it to all my friends!!!
Great to have you as our guests. Love to have you and your family or friends back sometime.
Sweet lake house
Our family enjoyed this comfy lake house. It was full of unique, hand-crafted details that showed how much love had gone into the house over the years. The kitchen is fully stocked, the beds are comfortable, and the Buddha by the front door radiates peaceful good energy. I recommend this house.
Thank You Traci, It was a pleasure having you as our guest you're welcome back anytime. We highly recommend travelers like you.
Great house with giant fenced back yard
My family and I enjoyed our stay at the home in Del Dios. The owners were very receptive and easy to communicate with. The house was located perfectly, close to our relatives in Escondido and San Marcos, but secluded enough to feel like we were truly on vacation. We went for a couple of walks along the nearby lake. The back yard is fully enclosed- perfect for dogs. The home interior is clean but furnishings are a bit out of date. We recommend this house and would return ourselves. Thank you!
Great lake house with an amazing backyard!
My husband and I stayed here and loved the location! It's minutes from the lake which has many trails which were great for our dogs! It's also about 20 minutes to Solana beach where there are many dining and shopping options. I would highly recommend this place. The backyard is beautiful!
We're so glad you had a great vacation, enjoyed the yard and this very special area. The location is perfect for anyone trying go to many different destinations. It would be great to have you back in the future. Thanks Lynn & Paul
