This is the first property for AWOL, a boutique vacation rental brand. To get away from your life for just a minute and let us provide you with a beautiful place in which to escape.
This is a very private retreat of a house located in the historic neighborhood of Ruth Hardy Park. You will find yourself a few blocks from the Frank Sinatra house, tons of great architecture, one mile from the design district and great restaurants.
The house is 1800 square feet. The furnishings and art is an eclectic collection of designers and artists including: Florence Knoll, Mies Van Der Rohe, Eames, Mario Bellini, Arne Jacobson, Noguchi, Deedee Cheriel, Steven Harrington, and us!!
Each of the two bedrooms have king sized beds with top of the line Stearns & Foster mattresses and ample closet space. Roll out of bed and walk right out on to the pool and spa.
There are two full baths, each bathed in sunlight. The grand bath features double sinks and a large, tiled, indoor/outdoor shower with three sources of water: a standard shower head, a hand held shower head, and a 16” rain shower.
CHEFS! there is a beautiful, very well appointed kitchen waiting for your indoor and outdoor cooking talents to shine!!! Double oven and five burner range, BBQ grill, gorgeous Fisher Paykel refrigerator with in-door filtered water, ice maker in the freezer, and plenty more.
Surrounded by bamboo, the pool is a perfect place to cool in the heat of the day. Soak up some rays in the pool’s sun pad, while the waters from the infinity spa cascade over your shoulders. Lounge by the fire pit and count stars. Soak the day away in your 10 person spa. Feeling antsy? Negotiate yourself around the spa’s jet circuit and massage every part of your back—this is why you went AWOL!!! In the winter, the pool can be heated. There is truly nothing like floating in a body of water, while gazing at snow-capped mountains!
Palm Springs gets an average of 354 days of sunshine a year; greet each new day by rolling right out of bed, out your private entry to the pool, and dive in to your morning!. Follow that with a rain shower in the indoor/ outdoor shower and you are very ready to tackle your vacation!
The outdoor speakers by the pool and outdoor dining/ BBQ area will make entertaining fun and easy.

Coming from Los Angeles, each of us respectively work in art direction and set decoration for film, tv and print. We both come from a philosophy of 'undecorate', putting a focus on function and comfort above a mass of stuff. We want to share that here in the open skies of the desert and provide a space that is extremely comfortable, luxuriously livable, and aesthetically interesting without being overly 'done'.
The Owner purchased this house in 2011
We chose Palm Springs because of the comfort it provides us, the small towness of it, warm smiles from friendly people, easy driving with no metered parking (coming from LA, this is like a daily massage!), a natural landscape just beyond the city that is other worldly and sublime...all this with the benefits of restaurants, bars, museums, culture, shopping, and more that feels straight from the city.
Things we love:
the sky is amazing and never lets you down. during the day, there is almost always some cloud form drama making its way across the sky...we joke it's some sort of UFO camouflage, but that's for you to decide. you can see countless stars from the hot tub! And every sunset behind the mountain leaves us breathless.
Lemonade made fresh from the meyer lemon tree!...and a splash of vodka?
we love a morning swim in the pool, a massage at the house with a rain shower in the indoor/ outdoor shower after, and warming in the evening next to the fire pit.
Ruth Hardy Park is a fabulous walking neighborhood with easy walking to groceries, coffee, window shopping and pizza and a glass of wine from Birba.
And all the glorious hikes in the area!!!
This was our first time to Palm Springs and really had no idea what to expect, so it was wonderful that Adam was so communicative and helpful in every regard. After a long day of travel (due to flight delays) we arrived at the house around midnight. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and had no trouble entering the home. Our first impression was, "Wow! What a beautiful house". After a lengthy sleep, we awoke to find the house very well equipped, clean and in close proximity to all the essentials. Why did I give this review a 4 star rating? Well....on day 3 the construction started next door. The neighbors house was undergoing extensive renovations and a new pool was going in. This continued for the rest of our stay. Of course, this was not Adam's fault and totally out of his control. Adam was very helpful though and on a positive note it encouraged us to get out and explore the many wonderful sites, restaurants and venues in the area. I should also mention that Sunshine Way is a 4 lane road behind the property and is busy. This did not deter us from sitting out in the late afternoon and enjoying the wonderful pool and hot tub. Overall, this is a wonderful house in a great location.
My boyfriend and I stayed here during Desert trip weekend. The house is beautiful and even better than the pictures. It was very clean, not one spot of dust. The decorations were great! The layout of the house makes indoor outdoor living easy. Everything is so well organized. The house is stocked with everything you will need, towels, toiletries, etc.
The house is located near three markets and many restaurants, making it really convenient. It was a 25 minute drive to Empire Polo Field which was also great.
My boyfriend and I loved it here and didn't want to go home. We would love to stay here again in the future.
From the time we arrived, we were so pleased by this house. Its charming exterior greeted us, and when we opened the door, we were delighted by the attention paid to every detail of the interior. The excellent refurbishing has kept true to the house's mid-century simplicity and charm. Both bedrooms look onto the beautiful pool and great fountains, and the king-size beds and linens are luxuriant. We made full and frequent use of the poolside barbecue and outdoor dining area, and of the wonderful kitchen, which has every utensil, appliance, pot and pan you could want. Adam is so gracious and helpful, and the detailed instructions provided make for a seamless arrival and use of the home's equipment and systems. We had a wonderful time, and this will be our go-to vacation home in Palm Springs for the future!
This was our second time to stay here and we have booked a third. The pictures in the ad are good but do not do it justice. the house is really pretty inside, extremely clean, has modern stainless appliances, nicely decorated throughout, the beds are extremely comfortable and to us the best part is the pool which is secluded, well taken care of and has a hot tub-Gets the perfect blend of sun and shade. The owners provide easy to follow instructions for check in and info sheets on how to operate everything including the electronics. The house is located about a five minute drive to the center of town with easy access to local restaurants and shops. Relaxing around the pool is our favorite thing, we also enjoy taking walks around the neighborhood to look at all the interesting architecture. Adam provided recommendations for some great restaurants and deli connections that were just minutes away and the food was great. I was reluctant to write this review because i would like to keep this house a secret but the owners are so nice i had to give them and the house their well deserved props.
I rented this house for my husband's "38"th Birthday and it exceeded our expectations! It was absolutely perfect in every way. I agree with another reviewer, it's even better in person! The inside was so cool and cozy. The double oven came in handy because we love to cook. The kitchen is fully equipped and I actually brought too much stuff (shock!). The shower is amazing!!! My husband is 6'5" and he actually had room and the shower head wasn't up to his chest. It has an amazing rain shower. The 2nd bathroom is near the dining room table. It takes a minute to find. The outside is a perfect sanctuary! You feel a million miles away from everyone. The pool and jacuzzi were perfect. We practically lived outside for our stay. In the description, when they mentioned the art they had in the house, I didn't think much of it. I like what I like and names don't mean that much to me. Their art is awesome!!! I actually walked around and wrote the names down. My husband and brother played golf at Tahquitz Creek golf course and had a great time. Adam was a dream to work with and made it easy for me to book everything and get settled in. I've booked several houses in Palm Springs and this experience was more than we could've asked for. I will definitely be back! I cannot wait.
Comfortable, well-equipped, lovely, well-cared-for home is located in the Movie-Colony district, very close to the design district, restaurants, and shops. This home's garden and pool area, surrounded by palm trees and a tall bamboo hedge, are extremely private and so relaxing.
Adam is a pleasure to deal with and is very attentive to every detail; his effort to make our stay excellent was amazing! We enjoyed the location and its proximity to gorgeous hikes in Indian Canyon: Palm Canyon jaunt is a must and if it's not too hot and you have a few hours - consider Fern Canyon.
We would absolutely recommend this beautiful home and would love to visit again!

Located a short walk passed Frank Sinatra’s old house, through the neighborhood they once called “little Beverly Hills” to Ruth Hardy Park, perfect for picnics, taking a walk with fido, free tennis and basketball courts and a wonderful playground for kids. From there it is only a few more blocks to Palm Springs’ design district on Palm Canyon Drive for tons of great shopping and dinning. The Palm Springs Museum is nearby. We are situated an easy couple of blocks off the many official bike touring loops the city of palm spring has established. But that would mean you’d have to leave this great house!!!
