My family has vacationed and rented several vacation homes in Eleuthera and Harbour Island. Laguna is now one of our favorites. The house has a spectacular view of the Caribbean. My family (including 2 teenage sons) enjoyed many beautiful sunrises/sunsets while lying on the hammock or relaxing in/around the infinity pool. The house is well-maintained, nicely furnished and guests have access to 2 kayaks (for 4 people). The refrigerator was stocked with water, sodas and beers when we arrived which was a very nice touch. There was also an ample supply of sugar & spices, bug spray and sunscreen. It was very easy to contact the owners via email. Our favorite beach was nearby Next 2 Rocks on the Atlantic side.
We just left Eleuthera and Laguna three days ago, and we are already wishing we could return! Everything about the house and its owners was fantastic. The house, with its gorgeous views of the ocean from each and every room, was even more amazing in person than it seems in the photos. The layout, with the master at one of the house, and the other two bedrooms at the other, was great. The fully equipped kitchen was perfect for making breakfasts and lunches to enjoy out on the huge deck. We probably spent more time hanging out poolside on the deck than in the house! Our daughter spent endless hours on the huge hammock reading. Venturing out in the two provided kayaks was also wonderful - a quick 15 minute ride took us down to a nearby beach. The deck provides a breathtaking view of evening sunsets. Then when it was time to head out for island adventures, we were all set with Stephanie's fantastic info on the best beaches (and the house's Beach Book was awesome too), directions, plenty of beach towels, umbrellas, chairs - fabulous! Stephanie was also so helpful with suggestions for grocery stores, restaurants, sites not to be missed, even her favorite island gift shop. Gabby, the property manager, was also lovely when she stopped by our first afternoon to make sure we were all set and to provide helpful island tips.
A few of our family favorites while on the island - Tippy's and the Buccaneer for dinners nearby, Wild Orchid in Rock Sound for an incredible oceanfront lunch, the Friday night fish fry in Governors Harbour was a blast, French Leave and Ten Bay Beaches, both just 10 minute drives away. And we did a daytrip to adventure all the way down south to the three Lighthouse Beaches - a crazy, crazy drive down insane roads, but so very worth it once you reach the unbelievable beauty that you'll find. Another daytrip north to Glass Window Bridge, Queens Bath, and Ocean Hole were also wonderful. Stephanie's advice was spot on!
We truly hope to return to Eleuthera one day, and would love nothing more to spend our days there staying at Laguna.
We had a wonderful 2 weeks at Laguna. Gorgeous views, salt water infinity pool, large deck with hammock, plenty of chairs & umbrellas. The kitchen is very large with all the utensils, pots & pans and spices you could ever need. The Master bedroom is on one end with a very comfortable bed and the 2 other bedrooms are on the opposite side of the home. Our second week was very windy but the house was very quiet. We did have some no-seeums but the cupboard is well stock with bug sprays & sunscreens in case you forget yours.
The house is centrally located (Carribean side) which made it easy to explore the island. It is over 100 miles long so it made exploring easy as we could be in the North or South in approx. 1 1/2 hrs. and very close to Governor's Harbor and the other towns close by. With such a beautiful home we never saw the need to drag chairs to the beach, don't get me wrong, we explored miles of beaches, the Lighthouse, the Cliffs, the Baths etc. but we always came back mid-afternoon to enjoy the peacefully setting of Laguna to relax and take an afternoon swim.
The owners are great to work with and offer lots of helpful information on the Island along with the popular "Beach Book" to use for all your adventures.
We brought some of our own meats along in a cooler and bought some local fish for grilling on the patio. We also like to try some of the local flare so we have a nice mix of both.
There is a brand new grocery store just a few minutes south of the house in Savannah Sound, Midway Cost Cutters, great store with a good selection of produce, clean & organized. Island Farms is also 5 minutes away. They grow vegetables, have jams & salsa's, etc. and have fresh bread & cinnamon rolls on Tuesday & Fridays. They open at 9:00 a.m. Don't be late or you have missed it!
There are lots of places to eat; fancy places and everything in between. We enjoyed 1648 for their Monday night burger special. Our favorite was the Front Porch. They have 6 tables on their porch so you should make reservations ahead. The menu is great and they also offer some of their own fresh catch of the day. We like to have a fancier meal for special occasions and we choose "The Cove" for that evening, also a spectacular meal & evening. Buccaneers was a good breakfast location, try the Coconut rum French Toast.
So much to explore, So go and make your own memories!
Was fairly disappointed with our stay here. Had numerous problems including terrible wifi coverage. The couple we were with needed wifi for her business and had a terrible time trying to stay on line or get on line to do her work. Numerous things didn't work at the house including the pool not circulating. It is an infinity pool but it was never turned on to be that. If you are looking for complete isolation this is the place to go. Very far from everything and no street lights. Bugs are terrible both day and night. Could go on but won't. People we rented from are very nice.
This listing is spot on...this home is beautiful and as described. My wife and I rented it for the week and explored the island. The amenities were wonderful....we utilized the kayak, snorkel gear, and other amenities! the house was perfect and the views are phenomenal. The owners are very attentive and care for their home and worked to insure we had a pleasant stay. I would recommend this home to friends and family.
What a perfect getaway! My wife and I booked this home based on the view and the pool and we were not disappointed.
Firstly, the island. Eleuthera is sleepy without a ton of activities, which made finding the right house all the more important. We rented a car and drove from the North Eleuthera airport, a drive of about an hour. The drive is tricky because of the lack of signage, but once you find the Queen's Highway you will eventually run into the house. When we go back we will bring more of our own food and take advantage of the grill as there was only one grocery store with limited options.
The pictures do not do the house justice. When you walk in, you are greeted with a 180 degree view of the Caribbean side of the ocean. It was breathtaking. The living area is totally open, with the kitchen, dining area, and TV room all in one large space. It was ideal for hanging out. Everything felt new and worked great. The master bedroom was large with a great view and a nice spacious bathroom. Water pressure was great everywhere in the house and the AC was fantastic. It was in great condition and very clean.
The deck is incredible and where we spent most of our time. Again, the pictures simply do not do it justice. The view is amazing and the infinity pool makes you feel like you are swimming into the ocean. There were plenty of chairs and even a large hammock we used. We watched the sun set over the ocean each night from the deck.
The owners were fantastic to work with and very responsive. The property manager lives down the street and was great as well, making recommendations for restaurants and even surprising us with a birthday cake for my wife. It was a perfect escape and we highly recommend this house.
Centrally located near Governor's Harbor where you will find most of the islands services including it's best restaurants, with grocery and Wine/Spirits stores.
