About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-8)

This light and airy lake front home looks looks up the spectacular Matanuska Glacier. Lake Lucille offers the peace and beauty of remote Alaska, but the convenience of being within the city limits of Wasilla--a ten minute drive to the grocery store and restaurants. It is accessible to many of the great wonders of Alaska and suitable day trips to glaciers, waterfalls, fishing, and hiking. Talkeetna provide a great view of Mt. Denali and some great dining and tourist shops. Hatcherpass is only forty-five minutes drive.

The kitchen living room has a large sliding door which opens to the front deck. There are three bedrooms upstairs. The master bedroom has a queen bed and overlooks the lake. The lovely private bath has a window to the woods. The larger 2nd bedroom has a king size bed and overlooks the lake. This room shares a family bath with tub or shower with a third bedroom that has twin beds and a toddler crib. It overlooks the woods.

The single car garage has a medium size upright freezer, and some recreation equipment available for use.

Nights on the Lake are quiet and calm--sit by the fire and watch the ducks, grebes, muskrats and an occassional moose.

About Vicki Malone

Vicki Malone was born and raised in Alaska. As a girl she came to the 'cabin' on Lake Lucille with her family to enjoy the wonderful summers full of water skiing, swimming, site seeing and hiking. She lives in Bethel, Alaska and enjoys time at Lake Lucille with her five grandchildren. In 2009, she tore down the old cabin and built a 3 bedroom home on the Lake. She named the new house 'Bob's Bungalow' after her dad.

Vicki Malone purchased this house in 2009

Why Vicki Malone chose Alaska

I want to retire on Lake Lucile. The Matanuska Valley is the heart land of southcentral Alaska. You experience the wild beauty of Alaska on the lake but are really only ten minutes of all the conveniences of shopping. Anchorage is only an hour away.

What makes this house unique

This is a great home to enjoy Alaska. The day trips from here are great. I am especially fond of Hatcher Pass, the Matanuska Glacier. I love spending the day in Talkeetna and taking the train to Hurricaine Gulch. I love coming home and watching the sunset on the lake. I have the morning sun on the deck. There are days when I don't leave the Lake. It is too beautiful and relaxing.

Awesome lakefront property

  • 5 of 5

We spent 1 week at Bob's Bungalow. We had a wonderful stay... We enjoyed the ability to cook a home cook meal on the grill. The Lake front home has three bedrooms which worked nicely for 6 adults. We were very comfortable and enjoy our lakeview. We even did a day trip to Talkeetna and enjoyed the views of Denali. Location Location Location! We were within 10 minutes of the Wasilla area and Talkeetna was only a 75 minute drive. One will not go wrong with a stay at this bungalow!

Alaska home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This lovely house on Lake Lucille was the perfect spot for our Alaska adventures and two family vacation. Lakefront with beautiful view of the mountains, quiet and peaceful, yet close to grocery stores, restaurants, etc. This was home base for trips to glacier tour in Whittier, fishing near Homer, Anchor Point, Talkeetna (1 hr away), Denali. The Alaska Train Depot is only a mile away and beautiful Hatcher's Pass with amazing hiking close by. The house is spacious, very clean and the owner most accommodating. Bathrooms are nice and large. Everything is just comfortable, clean and bright. Wonderful to be able to do laundry, cook breakfast, pack lunches or grill out and for everyone to have their private space between the fabulous day trips. Highly recommend Bob's Bungalow.

Bob's Bungalow

  • 4 of 5

The view was outstanding and exactly what I wanted for my family that had never been to Alaska. The house was spacious and no one ever got in anybody's way. Nice open layout for kitchen, dining, and TV. Great to have a small boat and kayaks. Although we didn't use them very much, it was fun for a try. Great base station for us "old" folks who were attending a wedding. House is set up for young visitors as well. I concur with previous posts. Wish I could own property on Lake Lucille!! Thanks Vickie, you were most helpful from beginning to end. Did not give a 5 star only due to a few maintenance issues. Would definitely stay again.

Owner's Response: You were great guests, and thank you for your patience. My handyman fixed the maintenance issues right after you left. Sorry we were unable to connect sooner to get him in.

"Sweet Retreat"

  • 5 of 5

We found Bob's Bungalow the perfect place for our family to stay....all four generations of us! The home was so cozy, clean, and had everything we needed including being very baby friendly. Its location was ideal for taking day trips and was close to stores when needed. How we enjoyed the spectacular view of the snow-covered mountains, kids with dogs playing on the frozen lake, and the magical northern lights! We highly recommend Vicki and her bungalow, and we thank her for the memories!!

Great Place!!!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We travelled a long way to meet our first grandchild and this was the perfect place for it. The view of the lake and mountains was fantastic. The peace and tranquility - outstanding! Since the lake was frozen solid we observed people and vehicles travelling accross it - even a plane taking off every morning! Awesome! Even though it was cold and snowy the house was so cozy and comfortable. The house is furnished with everything you need and beautifully decorated. The photos do not do it justice. We would love to come back in fall! Everything about are experience was fabulous. There could not be any better place to stay in the area.

AMAZING, BREATHTAKING VIEWS and Excellent Location, Very Comfortable House!

  • 5 of 5

The views of Lake Lucille and the surrounding mountains are breathtaking, whether from the deck, the spacious yard, or inside the house. Every room has a view! As if that were not enough, there are even kayaks and a canoe so you can take in the tranquility of Lake Lucille, which is in your backyard. One of our favorite features was the float planes taking off on the lake - right in front of the house (but far enough away to be safe). They sound just like a Ferrari pulling onto the freeway! Need groceries or want to go out to eat? No problem, the center of Wasilla is just a five-minute drive away. Views and tranquility combine with modern convenience! The house itself is extremely well built and well thought out, with features such as radiant in-floor heating, triple-pane windows, and AMAZING well water. You feel more healthy breathing the fresh air and bathing in the wonderful water. Now to the best part: the owner. Vicki is WONDERFUL. My family arrived late at night but she was still there to greet us and make sure everything was okay. She was available at the drop of a hat (or the delivery of a text message) to assist us with anything we needed during our month-long stay. We have already made plans to stay here again; it really feels like home.
