Come experience a different part of Florida from the very large deck of this great river house. Bring your boat, fishing poles, the kids, and grandma. You will enjoy the large dock, complete with covered boat house, running water, fish cleaning station, lights, and floating dock perfectly suited for tying up your boat. Remember there are alligators in Florida. This house has an open floor plan with split bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms open to the covered deck and have views of the river. The deck and dock are great spots for watching the boats go by. The river is 310 miles long and occasionally will host smaller cruise ships bringing their passengers to tour the scenic and historic St Johns River. This was a popular destination during the Gilded Age. The vacation this home makes possible should not be considered 'luxurious' but instead enjoyed as a return to nature.
This home is clean and spacious with fantastic views and is located very close to the boat ramp, grocery and drug stores and restaurants. You will feel very secluded but can still walk to the market. Wild turkeys, alligators, and fish are very common. Manatees, otters and other wildlife are often seen in and around the river. We have provided 2 kayaks and paddles. You will find an assortment of life and ski vest as well as several floats for your enjoyment. You will need to bring most other fishing and boating items with you.
We have a large dining room table in the 'River Room' which can easily seat 8, with views through the 5 sliding glass doors. Located off the kitchen is a breakfast table that can seat 6.
Palatka is known as the' Bass Capital of the World'. The fishing is great and shrimping is possible in August and September.
This home has been our family retreat for over 15 years. We have decided to share our home with others starting in late May 2011. It is located only 30 miles from St. Augustine and the St. Johns County beaches. We hope you enjoy your stay in our River House.

My wife and I have lived in St. Augustine since 1981. We have always enjoyed traveling, and have made many friends along the way.
Our two children are now off to school, which leaves us more time to enjoy our favorite activities.
David Powell purchased this house in 1996
We bought this property because we love the river. It was close to everything but it is very private.
We bought this river home in 1996 when our kids were very young and spent many weekends and a large portion of the summers and holidays here. This house is so perfect for casual entertaining.
This is a fantastic property and a wonderful owner to work with. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is on the end of a dead end street so it is a quiet ant relaxing location. The view of the river from the large deck was very picturesque. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. We will definitively be booking another vacation here.
Loved St johns river. Rented boat from McGhees boat rental and kept at dock for whole 2 weeks. Spent much time on river. Took boat ride to Silver Glen Springs. Saw alligators. Manatees visited dock as did turkeys. Owner was fantastic to deal with. This was our 2nd trip to river house and will probably be back. Also St. Augustine 40 minute drive. Went to epcot at Disney only a two hour drive.
The house is beautiful and views of the river were beautiful. We all love the house with everything was great. Your friends with us get to see some wonderful wild life, gators, manatees, a beautiful bald eagle and etc. It's now our new favorite vacation spot and will be back soon. Thank you for letting us vacation at your river house.
What a great property in such a nice setting. The house was huge, the bedrooms spacious, everything we needed easily found. In walking distance of restaurants and stores in East Palatka and within easy driving distance of all Palatka has to offer. The owner responds quickly to any question or message. Highly recommend this hidden gem.
Nice view and loved the screen porch. The bathrooms had most of their light bulbs out and the washer leaked some. Also had 3 other bulbs out. Other than that everything was great
My husband and I loved this home. It actually felt like home. My husband kept saying he could live here! We took the kayaks down the river a bit and a 12-foot alligator plopped into the water and scared us to death. We continued down and when we came back it seemed like he was waiting for us. We had to paddle far around him to get back to the shore. Very exciting! On the last day of our stay, I saw an armadillo in the yard. We highly recommend this home!
