Welcome to Nestledown –a peaceful retreat surrounded by native rhododendron nestled amongst the mountains of Highlands, NC. From the moment you enter the driveway you will be drawn to the quaint two bedroom, two bath cottage with a welcoming front porch.
The open floor plan to the great room encourages memorable times with family, friends or that special someone. Skylights allow the natural warmth of the North Carolina sunlight to fill the room. Comfortable furniture and a spacious eating area gives guests a home-away-from-home feeling. Timber accents add rustic charm to this mountain home. A stone fireplace provides additional warmth for those chilly evenings. Each bedroom features Queen beds with ensuite bathrooms and is accompanied by a flat screen TV fed by a satellite connection.
The crisp clean mountain air can be enjoyed from the cozy front porch or stretch out on the expansive two-level deck overlooking the private wooded backyard. The lower level of the deck features a large welcoming Jacuzzi to relax tense muscles or just enjoy the clear North Carolina skies overhead. If you like a little background music to your natural setting, you can enjoy your CDs piped through a pair of outdoor speakers. An open front and side lawn are perfect for outdoor activities.
If you wish to pull yourself away from the tranquility of the cottage, you only have a few minutes drive to downtown Highlands to enjoy world-class dining and shopping. Alternatively, Cashiers affords similar high level entertainment and is nearly as close.

This is the second time our family has stayed at Nestledown. It was exactly as we remembered it - comfortable, peaceful, and convenient. A true home away from home. The hot tub and new grill were just icing on the cake. We enjoyed lounging on the front and back porches, short trips to both Cashiers, Highlands and even Asheville, and all day breezes through open windows. We'll be back.
Our family of 3 had a comfortable stay during our 4 days in Highlands. We came to attend a wedding at the Old Edwards Inn and found that this cottage with it's extra space, kitchen, and proximity to the wedding was a better value than staying on-site. Being a clean freak, I was happily surprised that the actual cottage was even better than the pictures. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were ample and clean, and the kitchen had everything we needed to serve meals...even though we ended up eating at the awesome area restaurants for a large portion of our stay. There were plenty of linens, towels, blankets, and amenities to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We really made use of the deck and hot tub, enjoying the privacy and seclusion provided by all the beautiful foliage. The owner contacted us a week prior and handled any questions we had regrading our stay and refunded us $50 when he realized the door on the machine was broken and wouldn't be fixed before our departure. I would highly recommend this to couples, families, and small groups who are wanting to stay in a nice place while visiting Highlands or Cashiers. Our family would definitely stay here again!
Everything that a mountain retreat should be . Plus the house had all the things for an easy in and out . Plus it is a great upscale property. Have friends that live in the area and when they came over for drinks, they said that their visitors will be using it as a guest house next year. Every thing you need for an enjoyable stay. Very nice, private cabin tucked in the woods between Highlands and Cashiers. Everything was as advertised and we didn't have any issues. Would stay in Nestledown again and recommend it to anyone.
Loved, loved this place!! Perfect getaway in the mountains! Loved the way the cottage is decorated- so rustic and simple but adorable! Hot tub is awesome but be careful-not much lighting @ night leading to hottub! Would highly recommend this place- will be going back!!
Nestledown is a beautiful house, warm and cozy and so peaceful. It has everything! The rooms are spacious, nice decor throughout, big bathrooms and fluffy towels! The bedding is high quality with lots of great pillows. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and snuggling up by the fireplace. At night you can see a million stars outside from the hottub which was very clean and a great temp. This house is very close to town, lots of hiking trails and pretty waterfalls, but just far enough into the mountains you don't even know anyone is around. We highly recommend anyone to stay at this amazing rental. We will definitely be back!
