Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps: 4-8

Two bedrooms, two baths and a fully equipped kitchen make this cozy cottage a wonderful vacation retreat. Across the road from a quiet, no-wake lake in the heart of the Berkshires, this is the perfect home base to take advantage of all the area has to offer. Spend a summer afternoon at the grassy beach just a 5-minute walk down the road and take the provided inflatable boat out on the water. Fire up the gas grill for a tasty dinner at the picnic table on the deck. On a cool night in the fall, start a warm, cheery fire in the wood stove.

The fully updated cottage has two walls of windows and is sunny throughout. One bedroom has bunk beds and a queen-sized pullout couch. The other has a king-size bed, along with a private full bath. There is also a sleeping porch with a small convertible sofa and twin bed – perfect for a warm summer night. The kitchen comes completely stocked with dishes and cookware.

In addition to the comforts of home, the cottage is close to many of the Berkshires' great attractions. We are in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood of Becket. It is less than 10 minutes to Jacob's Pillow dance festival (free evening performances at a stunning outdoor stage) and 30 minutes to Tanglewood. The Appalachian Trail is just 15 minutes away. Easy access to the Norman Rockwell Museum, Edith Wharton's 'The Mount', Berkshire Museum, MassMoca and the Clark. And the Lee premium shopping outlets are close by as well.

Very glad we stayed here - cottage and location made the week much too quickly over...

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time use of the cottage, but second time to Sherwood Forest. Accommodations gave us everything we needed, was dog-friendly, and allowed a few day visitors to join use during the week. Everyone spoke well of the openness of the place, space to move around or find a little privacy if needed, and stretch out with walks along the lake roads. Access to Lee, Stockbridge, Lenox, Great Barrington, trails at October Mt. and Pleasant Valley( Audubon) walk in Pittsfield gave us things to do in all directions. We even took Rt. 20 to Westfield on our return home and found some new scenery to enjoy. Sean, thanks for everything. We hope to take advantage again next summer, if not sooner during another season....

Great location and good facilities

  • 4 of 5

Property was very comfortable with plenty of space, good appliances, comfortable seating and good lighting. Property provided a lot of amenities (folding chairs, dinghy, lawn games) and had full laundry as well. Well water was drinkable (i.e., not too sulfury). Public beach was a short (~5 minute) walk. Sean (owner) was very responsive and a good host. Nice cabin for a country get away, and not too far to take advantage of Tanglewood and other Berkshire cultural offerings. Our dogs were very happy there. Unlike other properties in the Berkshires, there was cell service and internet was provided. We'll be back!

Summer cottage😳 becket ma

  • 3 of 5

Dining area spacious, great table and chairs and light from several windows. Cleaning fee too high for results I experienced, especially in bedroom and sitting area. No curtains and shades!!! I believe the bed linens had been

washed(. Except for one pillow case) but they did not look or feel fresh. Maybe this summer cottage should

not be rented in cooler 40 degrees mornings and evenings.

TV for DVD only. After seeing person prepare food in store on property I would not eat there. Does have daily needs.

Town of Lee ...great place. BH

A welcome refuge in the heart of The Berkshires!

  • 5 of 5

I absolutely loved my stay at Rachel & Sean's cottage in Becket. It's situated in a great location to explore all that The Berkshires has to offer. I went for a much needed getaway, from the hustle & bustle of the city and enjoyed every minute. Located on a small, no wake lake with access to the rich local arts, scene as well as the great outdoors. It was so peaceful and the property well kept with so many windows it's easy to forget when you're inside. Outside I made use of the large gas grill & picnic table on the deck, as well as the beautiful lake which is a five minute walk from the house. Rachel & Sean were extremely responsive to my questions both before & during my stay. I will definitely be back!

Quiet with a nice buffer of trees between properties for privacy

  • 2 of 5

A view of Robin Hood Lake would have been enjoyable, unfortunately the amenities, specifically CDs and videos skipped and did function properly. Property was clean, pleasant area, with restaurants, grocery stores within 10 miles.

Owner's Response: We are across the street from the lake, but trees and bushes have grown back around the lakefront houses. We are sorry that the DVDs didn't work; we've acquired some new ones and will have those available this summer.

Cozy cabin conveniently located for hiking and visits into town.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is comfortably outfitted. It is in a quiet area, yet is close to hiking trails and other day visits. Town of Lee looks cute and as fun as Williams or Lenox, yet so much closer. We would definitely return here. Price is right, too! Owner was very quick to respond by to my questions.
