My husband and I wanted to keep this perfect slice of heaven in our family - just as our son wanted to do in his future. In order to keep this in our family, we decided to share this amazing palce with select others who we know will feel the magic as soon as they step inside and see the amazing views of Lake Erie! We live in Tecumseh, Ontario and my husband had worked with our son Dave, since he purchased the home in 2006 and rebuilt the entire home from the inside out.
Chris and Murray Inverarity purchased this house in 2009
This was our beautiful firstborn child, our son, Dave's home and he died tragically in the city in 2009. It is such a beautiful place at the lake (and our daughter lives year round a few beaches away), and we want to keep it in our family so we rent it out to help cover the costs and this allows us to keep it. This is a perfect location any time of the year. All our guests that have stayed here have commented on how beautiful and peaceful it is. The home is all remodelled with a brand new kitchen, all stainless steel new appliances including a dishwasher, new bedrooms and large new bathroom with a soaker tub and includes a new central air conditioning and furnace. We provide all the linens and just ask at the end if you will pile all the linens used in the tub in order to do our best for the environment. I change everything from mattress pad to pillows and wash it all. SInce it is our home away from home, we have a large collection of games, movies, books , etc., and you are welcome to use any. If you ran out of your own wine , etc., you can use any of ours as long as you replace it. That is what Dave's Serenity is all about. Welcoming you to a peaceful get away where you can leave all your stress and troubles behind.
While you are sitting inside, whether eating dinner, playing a game, reading a book or enjoying a glass of wine, one glance out the wall to wall windows makes you feel like you are sitting right at the water. The beach is beautiful! The views are magnificent! It is very rare to have this amount of sandy beach right off your front deck! Sit on the huge deck with a beautiful fire pit and watch the sunset!
When we decided to rent out our home on the lake, we were nervous about letting others stay in our home with our belongings there. This has turned out to be a fabulous opportunity to meet people from all over. Thank you to our guests who have treated our home like your own. We look forward to meeting others who are seeking a vacation to get away from it all - an enjoyable time on a beautiful beach- truly - serenity awaits you!
Thank you guests!
Chris and Murray
Truly a wonderful "vacation" rental! We always feel at home when stay at Dave's. Chris and Murray are such wonderful hosts and are always available for questions.
The view from the back deck is inspiring and simply beautiful at anytime of the day but especially in the morning with your coffee or tea.
So much to do in the area if you love the outdoors but also very peaceful if you just want to kick back and relax.
The new shower is a must try!
Thanks again for an amazing stay.
This is our third time renting the cottage and we cannot say enough about how fantastic it is! It is located right on the lake and the views are stunning! The cottage has been recently updated and now has another new bathroom which is wonderful. It is so peaceful there and great for cycling and day trips to Peele Island. Chris and Murray are wonderful and great to deal with. Such a peaceful and relaxing place!
We spent a peaceful and relaxing week at Dave's Serenity. As seen on the listing, the cottage has many updates and provides many comforts. We enjoyed the amenities of the beautiful kitchen, especially the dishwasher and the beds were very comfortable. There are windows on 3 sides of the cottage providing an unobstructed view of the lake. During our stay we experienced a thunderstorm which provided an amazing light show from across the lake. We visited a local winery and took a trip into Kingsville to shop. The owners had recently purchased additional lounging chairs for the deck along with a chairs and a gas fire pit which we enjoyed in the evenings. Chris & Murray's priority is their guests' comfort and enjoyment. They were a pleasure to deal with, answering all our questions and requesting feedback at the end of our stay.
Our stay was amazing! The cottage was in a perfect location and was recently renovated and we had a wonderful time. The beds were extremely comfortable and the cottage offered all of the comforts of home. My husband and I are cyclists and this is a great spot for cycling as both Amherstburg and Kingsville are short rides away. Thank you Chris and Murray for such a wonderful stay - we will be back!
We staid 3 nights with our Shih Tsu and enjoyed every minutes. We did not know this part of Ontario and were pleasantly surprised with the country aspect of it. We were lucky with beautiful weather and it was very quiet and relaxing. (we staid during the week and left Saturday am. Neighbours arrived on the Friday night). We read on the deck, walked on the beach. We walked to the winery, drove one am to Kingsville and the next to Amhersburg. It is a privilege to stay in this special family place. Obviously the owners come often. It is nice to see how they trust the guests as they leave some of their own belonging, their food in the fridg,...So we liked it and will try to come back. Two suggestions for the next guests: find out if the owner compost (they recycle but I did not find the compost) and get instructions to use the TV and CD player. (I did not figure it out).
PS: and it was great not to have access to Wi-fi as we get addicted very easily. Thanks again.
We really enjoyed our 2 weeks at this beautiful cottage in Essex county. It was exactly as the owner described it in the VRBO listing. The photos posted in the listing reflect the charm and beauty of this serene location. The cottage is right on the beach and you are only a few steps way from diving into the warm and inviting lake. The whole area is very quiet and tranquil and has a lovely country feeling. We visited several wineries closeby and enjoyed the local produce from famers as well. Quaint little towns like Harrow, Amherstburg, Kingsville and Leamington are closeby. We had breakfast at a little diner called 'Ure's' not far away, ate the best pie ever at 'The Pie Lady's' in Harrow, went to the Rib Fest in Amherrstburg, and ate fresh perch from "The Meadows' pub very close to the cottage. Pelee Island is a short drive from the cottage too. The cottage is spotless and has been recently renovated. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen and bathroom are new and spotless. We found everything that we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The owners are wonderful and make you feel right at home. I have already recommended this inviting cottage to a few friends and we hope to visit here again. Thank you so much, Chris and Murray!
