The Wilcox family is native to Rexburg, ID and has enjoyed the Island Park area for many years. We love coming to Island Park for the great getaway that it is, offering lakeside enjoyment with the comforts of home. When we come to the cabin, some of our favorite things to do are boating, hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, and just spending time with the family!
Julie Wilcox purchased this lodge in 2010
Island Park (Bills Island in particular) is a great vacation spot, which is why we bought these properties when we did. They are remote enough to help us feel as though we are getting away from the world. However, we are close enough to other larger areas, so that shopping and emergencies are taken care of!
The lodge is a great place to get away for the weekend or to plan as an extended stay. With all the comforts of home and the magnificent kitchen, large groups can be accomodated easily. We know it's nice having some peace and quiet as well as play areas for the kids, so we love that the lodge has multiple entertainment rooms and sitting areas on each floor.
What an amazing place even better than the pictures We had our family come from multiple states to meet here. Everyone had their own space. You don't have to think of anything except clothes, sunscreen, and groceries. The place is fully stocked and ready to cook for an army- spices and all. Moms, there is a play room, high chairs, crib and playpen so travel just got lighter. Just enjoy and replenish what you use up.
We just returned home yesterday from our stay here. Loved it! We will definitely be returning. We had 12 adults and 10 children and we had plenty, plenty room. One thing that helped is that there are five different group areas: large family room, theater room, large game room, play room and upstairs TV area with large sectional. With teenagers down to toddlers, this set up was fantastic. There was a place for everyone when kids needed a break from each other by the end of the day. A few of the the bedrooms are very large and easily fit a porta-crib. NOTE: the large lakeside basement bedroom has the most amazing view; we were fighting over it.
But the thing that really made this place so perfect and workable for our large group was the kitchen. It is THE best, most practical kitchen we have seen in all the times we have rented large houses/cabins. Two of every large appliance. Two sinks. Large island that easily seats 9 -- the kids loved that. AND...it is the best stocked kitchen of any rental we have had. Honestly, they have thought of everything from multiple aprons, to multiple cookie sheets, to numerous cooking and serving utensils. Even supplies to make cupcakes. Hello! They have gone above and beyond in stocking the kitchen. All of the furniture is quality and in great condition. The location on Bill's Island is perfect. Being right on the lake with our own dock was great because we could go out on the lake with our rental kayaks and float tubes several times a day. We also liked using the fire pit by the lake in the evenings. For activities we went to Yellowstone, floated the Snake river in rafts.
Our family recently had a family reunion at this fun place. We were 10 adults and 9 children. We really enjoyed the home and dock/lake. We had plenty of amenities and loved that there were two of almost everything important like dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator and washer and dryer. The bedrooms were spacious and the family rooms were perfect for a large group. The homeowner was nice to work with and tried to help us in every way which was just great.
This is our second year staying at this cabin for a big family reunion. We love it. It is amazingly big, comfortable, and in a beautiful setting. Great for all ages. The teens enjoyed renting boats and jet skiis, and all the rest of us could visit nearby and be involved. The little kids enjoyed puddling in the lake and playing pool and ping pong. Something for everyone. Just loved it.
In one word "Amazing"! The only thing we could not find in the house in 4 days was a cork screw. Not to say there wasn't one but we couldn't find if there was. The place had everything and lots of it. Eevrything worked great and was so comfortable.
The craftsmanship of the home was exceptional-probably some of the best I have seen in Idaho.
The owner was very helpful and showed us what we needed to make our stay even better.
I would highly recomend this property to anyone. It may seem kind of pricey but it was worth every penny.
The privacy and ease of access was great too.
I am hoping we can come back in the summer too.
What a wonderful place for our family reunion! We had 25 family members stay with us. Adults got to sleep in the beds and all the kids had a slumber party on the floor with sleeping bags we brought. The kitchen was more than enough for our large group. The view from the deck is phenomenal. We stayed at the Jefferson View Lodge at the first of December. We can only imagine how beautiful the view is during the summer months. There isn't a hot tub...YET! (hint, hint management!) The property managers, Dave & Zach, were easy to work with and filled all of our requests! Thank you so much! Looking forward to our next stay in Island Park!
