About the property

House, 3 1/2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (sleeps 8 adults)

Welcome to Parkway Peek! Please search for our personal website or Facebook page (house name with no spaces) online and contact us directly by phone or email BEFORE confirming booking.

Indulge in our fully-renovated mountain home and enjoy 180° views of the Blue Ridge mountains and the Black Mountain range. Relaxing on the expansive deck, you'll hear nothing but the sounds of nature and the occasional passing train in the distance. At 3200ft above sea level, mountain paradise awaits you within our 1 1/2 acres located adjacent to the pristine Pisgah National Forest.

Located just 1.3 miles from the Bear Den exit (mile marker 324.8 on the Blue Ridge Parkway), Parkway Peek is the perfect get away for couples, families or groups of friends. Featuring 3.5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, this 2-story home has everything you need for your perfect vacation: GE kitchen appliances, granite counters in kitchen, renovated bathrooms (full bath with traditional shower/tub downstairs, custom glass shower upstairs), fully renovated downstairs, HUGE deck and screened porch and several fire pits/chimeneas. Stay a few days and take in the local sites or stay a week and use Parkway Peek as your 'jumping off" point for Asheville, Blowing Rock, Linville Falls or skiing at Sugar Mountain. We're within a 45minute drive from all that Western North Carolina has to offer!

Local attractions include: the historic Altapass Orchard (featuring live music and festivities throughout most of the year), Springmaid Mountain (horseback riding, tubing, fly fishing), Linville Falls, Linville Caverns, Wilson Creek Wilderness Area and many other hiking trails all within a 15-30minute drive up the Parkway to the north; Little Switzerland, Crabtree Falls and Mt. Mitchell are 15-45minutes down the Parkway to the south; Table Rock, Lake James, Blowing Rock, Tweetsie Railroad, Boone, Grandfather Mountain, Sugar Mountain and HawksNest are all within a 45minute drive.

Our section of the Blue Ridge Parkway between Highway 226 and the Bear Den exit is typically open year-round. Check local weather conditions and the Parkway website in the winter for possible temporary closures. A 4-wheel drive is not needed to access our property unless there has been a heavy snow. Our community road is maintained year-round and our driveway has flat access. Main source of heat for the home is wood-burning stove and fireplace (there is no central heat). Wood is provided.

We hope you will enjoy our 'contemporary rustic' jewel in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains!

About Lesli

We are an energetic family of 4 (+ 3 dogs) currently residing in Greenville, SC. Please search for our personal website (house name with no spaces) online and contact us directly by phone or email BEFORE confirming booking.

Lesli purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Lesli chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

Spruce Pine provides a great central location in Western NC and our vacation home has one of the best views in the area! After renting many homes on VRBO over the years, we decided to purchase a home of our own that we could share with friends and family.

What makes this cabin unique

Tranquility with all of the modern conveniences! Be at one with nature or head into the 'big city' of Spruce Pine for groceries, dining & shopping.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an awesome time with our families and friends. Our dogs and family loved it and we can't wait to come back!

Beautiful Views and Plenty of Space.

  • 5 of 5

Awesome views from this Spacious home. Tucked into the mountain, this home comfortably accommodated our evacuated family of 6 adults, a small child and our dogs. The upper and lower living rooms were nicely furnished and the place was spotless upon our arrival. The kitchen is very well equipped. Despite the chilly damp weather, the house never got chilly and we didn't have to make a fire. Just a short drive to stores and a few restaurants, it still seems secluded and remote! We all enjoyed our stay and I definitely recommend this property.

beauty and seclusion

Absolutely breathtaking views, and very close to the heart of all the parkway has to offer. The outdoor spaces in particular make this a very special place.

Absolutely great!

  • 5 of 5

A great week at Parkway Peek.

This house is perfect for our family of 5 and exceeded our expectations.

Clean, updated, spacious, modern and practical with amazing views, privacy and quiet.

Cocktails and BBQ on the huge deck, s'mores at the fire pit, board games on the screened in porch. So many appealing spots to hang out and relax.

Minutes from the parkway with great hiking nearby. The owners are warm and friendly, just like this beautiful house. We will be back!

Doesn't get much better!

  • 5 of 5

Parkway Peek is a beautiful retreat. It feels very remote, but it's not far from many fun places to visit, eat and play. Dog-friendly, the cabin is super clean and spacious, with lots of sleeping options and cozy corners, perfect for a group of people. It has lovely updates to kitchen and bath, while maintaining a rustic, old world style. I loved that it was so well-equipped with games, brochures, firewood, kitchenware, serving pieces and items, that you could easily cook whatever you need. We were thrilled and will definitely come back!

Time to Relax...

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I decided to escape to the mountains for a weekend and were so happy to find this gem! The views are breathtaking and beyond relaxing. The accomodations are comfortable, clean, and wonderfully rustic. Being lovers of nature, we saw deer, rabbits, chipmunks, a hawk in flight with its meal, and even a black bear. It was so awesome! We will be returning in the fall with our kids and can't wait to share this wonderful retreat.

Perfect mountain home

  • 5 of 5

Everything about the property was ideal for our stay. The house is well maintained and well-equipped. I cannot say enough about the view or the location right off the parkway. And Lesli was the perfect hostess, making sure we had everything we needed including last minute detour instructions because she had seen the road was blocked. How thoughtful!
