Welcome to Parkway Peek!
Indulge in our fully-renovated mountain home and enjoy 180° views of the Blue Ridge mountains and the Black Mountain range. Relaxing on the expansive deck, you'll hear nothing but the sounds of nature and the occasional passing train in the distance. At 3200ft above sea level, mountain paradise awaits you within our 1 1/2 acres located adjacent to the pristine Pisgah National Forest.
Located just 1.3 miles from the Bear Den exit (mile marker 324.8 on the Blue Ridge Parkway), Parkway Peek is the perfect get away for couples, families or groups of friends. Featuring 3.5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, this 2-story home has everything you need for your perfect vacation: GE kitchen appliances, granite counters in kitchen, renovated bathrooms (full bath with traditional shower/tub downstairs, custom glass shower upstairs), fully renovated downstairs, HUGE deck and screened porch and several fire pits/chimeneas. Stay a few days and take in the local sites or stay a week and use Parkway Peek as your 'jumping off" point for Asheville, Blowing Rock, Linville Falls or skiing at Sugar Mountain. We're within a 45minute drive from all that Western North Carolina has to offer!
Local attractions include: the historic Altapass Orchard (featuring live music and festivities throughout most of the year), Springmaid Mountain (horseback riding, tubing, fly fishing), Linville Falls, Linville Caverns, Wilson Creek Wilderness Area and many other hiking trails all within a 15-30minute drive up the Parkway to the north; Little Switzerland, Crabtree Falls and Mt. Mitchell are 15-45minutes down the Parkway to the south; Table Rock, Lake James, Blowing Rock, Tweetsie Railroad, Boone, Grandfather Mountain, Sugar Mountain and HawksNest are all within a 45minute drive.
Our section of the Blue Ridge Parkway between Highway 226 and the Bear Den exit is typically open year-round. Check local weather conditions and the Parkway website in the winter for possible temporary closures. A 4-wheel drive is not needed to access our property unless there has been a heavy snow. Our community road is maintained year-round and our driveway has flat access. Main source of heat for the home is wood-burning stove and fireplace (there is no central heat). Wood is provided.
We hope you will enjoy our 'contemporary rustic' jewel in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains!

Lesli purchased this house in 2011
Spruce Pine provides a great central location in Western NC and our vacation home has one of the best views in the area! After renting many homes on VRBO over the years, we decided to purchase a home of our own that we could share with friends and family.
Tranquility with all of the modern conveniences! Be at one with nature or head into the 'big city' of Spruce Pine for groceries, dining & shopping.
We had an awesome time with our families and friends. Our dogs and family loved it and we can't wait to come back!
We were fortunate enough to stay here over the long holiday weekend. The cabin is perfect for a family and had unbelievable views. It is remote while still being close to lots of fun things. We picked apples at Altapass, hiked around Price and visited the Linville Caverns AND best of all sat on the huge deck and stared off into the sunset.
The view is one captured in paintings and photographs! Marvelous house well suited for families with multiple gathering areas inside and out. Drive up was easy, although house is on a ridge. Kitchen well equipped and there is a well stocked cupboard of spices. Owners are very accommodating. Lots of art studios in area and good food. However it is impossible to get reservations at local top rated restaurant, so call days in advance if you are trying to eat there. Actually our best meal of the week was home cooked peaches and pork chops and veggies from local farm stand on main road! My sisters and I drank coffee at dawn on the porch each morning and wine at night. Stars awesome! Never even got to the fire pit, but that is nice, too. We hope to return annually, it was that wonderful!
My family and I booked Parkway Peek in June of 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed our magical experience in the mountains of North Carolina. The cabin had everything we needed to fully experience the attractions both distant a close by. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking meals with a dining room table that would accommodate a large family. The bedrooms had comfortable beds and bathrooms were clean and functional. Wall unit A/C’s and wood stoves would accommodate visitors all season and the views from the deck were worth the price alone. Outside, a large grill came in handy and smores beside the fire pit were great after long days of hiking.
Speaking of outdoor attractions, Parkway Peek is strategically located close to amazing scenic locations that are all within a reasonable car ride away. We visited Linville Falls, Grandfather Mountain, Craggy Gardens, and Linville Caverns all conveniently located off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Further away but worth the trip, the Wilson Creek area provided amazing opportunities for hiking, fishing, camping, or dipping a toe in a cool mountain stream. We also made several trips to Spruce Pine, which is very close by, for pizza, groceries, and supplies. In addition, a journey to Penland School of Crafts made for a day of artistic wonder and was one of our most memorable experiences of the whole vacation.
Finally, I wanted to express my gratitude to Lesli and her family, the owners of Parkway Peek, for being such great hosts. In the weeks leading up to the trip, Lesli provided us via email with tons of information about local events and attractions. The night we arrived, the cabin was very clean and well equipped, which was reassuring after a long car trip. In addition, the owners provided a three ring binder filled with a multitude of maps and information that proved invaluable as we planned our week of adventure. In no time, the cabin almost seemed like a second home to us, and we didn’t want to leave in the end!
Thanks for a wonderful experience!
The Matherne Family
My family and I had a blast at the Parkway Peek cabin. The mountain view from the family room and main deck is amazing. The cabin decoration is very charming and its features are modern and very well maintained. Its proximity with the Blue Ridge parkway, Linville Falls and Spruce Pine also makes it a great destination for a weekend or a week-long vacation.
The place itself was gorgeous and the views simply breathtaking. The owner remained in contact to make sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely go back!
We stayed for 5 days and had an awesome stay. It was a beautiful cabin and a great location. What a view from the porch! The owners were fantastic and really went out of their way to make sure everything was just right. The weather wasn't exactly the best during our stay, but that's mother nature for you. Our security deposit was quickly refunded, which other rentals have taken so much longer. We will definitely book this cabin again the next time we are up in this area.
