Nice home good beds and kitchen but no towels

  • 4 of 5

Nice family home across from lake. We were here for Interlochen graduation week so busy with that. Didn't do lake stuff but there are bikes and a canoe. The porch furniture hadn't been cleaned so when the sun came out it wasn't worth it to have to clean a chair to sit on. Beds are all nice and kitchen is very well equipped. The towels not being provided are a pain for people who fly here. And we bought a bath mat because the bathroom floor was bare. Not even hand towels? Please give an option to pay extra for towels being provided. We brought a suitcase just for that. And a bath mat is a staple. Left it for others! Clean the porch furniture. Otherwise nice place.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments, glad to hear that you enjoyed the cottage and area! Our cottage has a fully equipped kitchen and we also provide all bedding, hand soap, and toilet paper. Towels are not provided because we do not have the commercial facilities or staff to manage that level of laundry. Also, guest requirements for towels vary greatly based on the total number of people and their travel plans. Over the years we have found it simply works best for guests to provide their own towels based on the needs of their specific group. I am sorry if this was inconvenient for you, yet our towel policy was clearly stated on our web page and in your rental agreement. We would consider offering towel service in the future if it could be managed by a subcontractor or linen service in the area.

We loved our stay at this Cottage. Lisa was and is the best person I've ever worked with and hope to meet this awesome Lady some day. The Cottage was great size for our group of 7 that stayed there and then our brother and sister n law came and stayed for 8 to 10 hours a day and would hang out. Lisa had almost everything we needed for our stay,. Again Thank You Lisa and Home Away for such great explaining of the places and being easy to work with. We will be back!!!!!

Lovely cottage in absolutely beautiful area! Trees and lake make it magical.

Clean, cozy, well maintained........... this cottage was the perfect sleeping arrangement for our group of 10. I would love to come back to this cottage each year, if time permitted. We had a lovely family vacation and explored Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, and even spent a day at Mackinac Island. Coming home to this lovely cottage each night made for some special family memories..... bonding time...... and we didn't have to worry about a thing. We stood on the shoreline of Duck Lake our first night and gazed at all the stars in the dark northern Michigan sky. Perfect!!!

Very Comfy!!!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was exceptionally comfortable and just the ticket for a relaxing vacation away from our busy lives! It was truly a home away from home with all the necessities provided. We were at least satisfied with all amenities, and some really stood out like the perfect mattress for sleeping in, a well-supplied kitchen, a great shower, and lots of lighting options. The location was extremely peaceful and we would have taken more advantage of it if we had been boaters. The neighbors were very friendly, which is something we don't take for granted as an African-American family, and we got great suggestions about places to visit in the area. Though we spent most days exploring Grand Traverse, my favorite memory of our trip is when I stayed at the cottage while my husband took our teens to the mall and I spent the afternoon sitting in the rocking chair, reading a novel and listening to the rain fall outside... Bliss!

Other details: The cottage is very clean with a cozy decor and modern conveniences. We had a bit of trouble with Wifi, but the owner was very responsive! We also appreciated that she left clear instructions about care of the property. There was plenty of room for my family of four, but the cottage is easily equipped to handle twice that number of people. We became frequent customers at Bud's restaurant in Interlochen after a neighbor recommended it. If a quiet cottage get-away is what you're looking for, I highly recommend this property!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback! I am glad you enjoyed the location of the cottage. I am sorry that you had concerns with the condition of the yard and WIFI and wish that you had contacted me during your stay. It is likely those issues could have been resolved with a quick phone call. This has been a warm and wonderful summer but with that comes the occasional thunderstorm, resulting in extra tree debris in the yard or loss of cable/WIFI service. This happened on at least one other occasion this summer that I know of, but in that case the cable/WIFI was restored in a matter of hours, not days.

Stayed at this lovely cottage while attending a family wedding. Very clean, beds were super comfortable. The kitchen is very well-equipped and had everything we needed to prepare family meals. The community is so nice for walking and running, too. Great time, relaxing weekend - thanks!
