About the property

Gorgeous, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Bath Home (Sleeps 8)

Welcome to our family's vacation retreat! This home is currently being updated with new floors, paint, kitchen cabinets and granite counters. It will be fully completed in May. Pictures will be updated soon to reflect the changes. We trust that our guests will treat our home with the care and concern as if it were their own. We aim to provide our guests with a comfortable and relaxing stay and a desire to return!

People often want to know what our favorite time of year to be in Central Oregon is. Can I answer EVERY day? Because every season offers something unique and wonderful. The summers are hot and dry, making the pool that much more inviting. Sisters has its Rodeo in early June, its Quilt Show in July, art shows and festivals throughout the summer and fall, followed by the Harvest Faire and Holiday Parades. Before you know it, it's January and that means SNOW and lots of it! Along with gorgeous scenery come opportunities for skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and more. Sisters has a strong local community that organizes concerts and benefits throughout the year, featuring well known artists and performers.

We love to shop in downtown Sisters. Christmas shopping, Ray's grocery store that seems to have everything, including a wonderful selection of craft beers, DVD rentals, gourmet items for wonderful meals; antiquing, new and used books. Speaking of books, the outstanding Paulina Springs Bookstore is about as good as it gets. Readers appreciate the staff recommendations and will find books that speak to their hearts and feed their souls. Across the street is our fabulous Sisters Coffee Company. Enter and take it all in, the aromas of coffee and baked goods, the enormous log construction, friendly baristas, inviting fire in the fireplace and comfortable furniture that invites you to sink in for hours.

You can't visit without seeing a movie at the charming Sisters Movie House. You will love it! It's our favorite place to see both first run films as well as independent films that appeal to the discerning folks that live and visit here. Even the popcorn, snacks and beer sold here are good. Come early to browse the art, quilts and sculptures in the lobby.

About Katrina Thomas

We feel so fortunate to have a place to go and relax, where there is almost nothing to do but read, hike, ski, cook, play and eat!! We know we will be re-charged and and well rested simply from taking in the mountain air, beautiful surroundings. Falling asleep in the luxurious beds doesn't hurt either! It's all a simple reminder that Life Is Good!!

Katrina Thomas purchased this house in 2006

Why Katrina Thomas chose Sisters

We found ourselves spending much of our leisure time going to Central Oregon, and why not? It has so much to offer. We loved staying at the Best Western Ponderosa Lodge in Sisters, but it was a little crowded for all of us. One weekend we decided to shop some homes with a realtor and with one look inside this one - we were HOOKED! It soon became ours and we love it!

What makes this house unique

It's quiet, comfortable and perfect. We can go out our back door to the Deschutes National Forest, turn right (north) and keep walking, completely through forest to Canada. Turn left, head south to Mexico. All without crossing any private property. Amazing. Not that we've done it, but YOU can!

Awful experience

  • 1 of 5

House was not clean despite being charged a fee. Owner was defensive and not responsive. There was food in the furniture, floors were filthy, bathroom was dirty, hot water heater was turned off. Cable was out which is okay....but, the DVD player was taken apart and not functioning. Owner offered to come out and inspect 3 days after check in....I would have preferred an inspection prior to arrival. Window shades are broken. House needs upkeep.

Relaxing weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Very wonderful house that was clean and comfortable! We were there for a wedding so had some time to hike Smith Rock and then spend most of the day at the pool. Katrina was always quick to respond and made sure we had everything we needed. I would stay again!

Great house, great location!

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay in Sisters. The house is in a great spot, close to town for restaurants, cute stores and galleries while still being close to trails for biking, running and hiking. And the pool is lovely and solar heated. What's not to love. We had a few bumps along the way but Katrina was very responsive and helpful to get problems solved quickly and painlessly. Thanks, Katrina!

Sisters and Mom Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our yearly trip my sisters, mom and kids take. The house comfortably housed all of us and the loft was perfect for the older kids. The yard was perfect, the location was perfect, and the pool for the community was awesome. Couldn't have asked for a better place to call home away from home...definitely recommend.

What a Serene Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Dear Katrina, Roger and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your house. Thank you so much! It is spacious, well-equipped and flooded with light from wonderful large windows. It was so quiet! We also live in the country but still can hear the highway traffic. Here, with the Deschutes National Forest edging your property we enjoyed serene walks beginning right outside the back door. We will highly recommend your property!
