This rustic home is nestled among towering trees in the mountains of Northern California. Being the closest rental, just 7 short miles to the north entrance to Lassen National Park, makes it the perfect place to stay and plan your outings into the park. Built on a hillside at 4500', this two story home is the perfect getaway for anyone wanting to escape the heat of summer. You may hear the laughter and activities of the youth attending the Christian Camp across the Lake, with July and August being their busiest months. Sit and relax with your morning coffee on the sky high deck or BBQ your dinner out back and watch the wildlife that frequents this property. Gaze up to the sky and view the stars at night while roasting marshmallows and making s'mores on the fire pit. Pack a lunch and drive to Lassen National Volcanic Park to hike Mt. Lassen, Mt. Brokeoff, Kings Creek or Bumpass Hell. There are many lake, streams and miles of hiking trails to explore. Hat Creek, Lake McCumber, North Battle Creek Reservoir and Bailey Creek are great fishing spots and all within a short driving distance from this home. Other day trips might include wine tasting in the Shingletown/Manton areas, a trip to Redding's Sundial Bridge, shopping and restaurants, a visit to Burney Falls or golfing in Fallriver. This cozy cabin is the perfect getaway for a few friends, couples or a small family.

We were born and raised in northern California and have two grown sons. We love the outdoors and nature. Our favorite destinations are the mountains and the coast. We love hiking, fly fishing, hunting, snowshoeing, exploring the back roads and of course relaxing at the cabin with something cold to drink.

What makes this House unique
Being only 7 miles from Lassen Park, our rental is the closest and it is the perfect location for anyone wanting to visit and explore this unique area. Getting away from the crowds and enjoying clean mountain air are two great reasons to visit our cabin. This is a true mountain cabin, uniquely decorated, but with all the comforts of home. The cabin is surrounded by forestland ready to be hiked and explored. You can also relax on the front deck or BBQ out back and watch the wildlife while listening to the sounds of rushing water. On most star filled nights you can look for the big dipper or other constellations or watch for satellites and falling stars. There are streams and lakes to be fished just a short distance from the cabin.

Very comfortable and well equipped in beautiful surroundings.
Beautiful surroundings. Very comfortable and well-equipped cabin. And very handy to Lassen Park--our primary destination each day. The steps up to the cabin are a bit of a challenge for old people like my wife and me, but quite manageable and worth the climb-- actually not as difficult as we initially thought.
Perfect location. Well stocked which is greatly appreciated. There is one bedroom downstairs with a door. The other two bedrooms are upstairs. They are separated by a hallway but not a door. The .5 bath is upstairs which is very convenient. You can see the set up in the 9th photo. The camp across the street was in session when we were there. However, the evening programs were short and relatively quiet. The rest of the time, we did not hear them at all. Every chair, couch, bed and hammock were very comfy. We simply did not want to leave the front porch! We especially liked the book that chronicled the renovation of the cabin. Mary was very prompt and helpful in answering questions. A couple of pointers that really helped us. Rely on the directions from the owner and not GPS (mine mapped the location 3 miles away). The cell reception did not work well in the house but worked outside (it might be the metal roof).
Surrounded by trees. Quiet. Comfortable. Delightful decoration.
We enjoyed a quiet stay surrounded by trees with the sound of water nearby. The decoration was vintage 1950s from the stove to the formica dining set. We had a comfortable, enjoyable stay.
Close to National Park
For us the most important feature of the house was its location in close proximity to Lassen Volcanic National Park. The house itself is cozy. The upstairs bedrooms share a half bath. There is a galley kitchen and a dining area best suited to 4 people. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking but any more than 2 cooks makes it crowded The front balcony porch is great for sitting outside in the evening or enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning. There is a nice backyard with a grill. It's across the street from a church summer camp so when camp is in session you'll be aware of any evening camp programs.
The house was very well supplied. We found everything we needed and were quite comfortable.
The cabin was located so close to Lassen National Park that we could get to the trail head easily. We enjoyed all the hikes we took. We came back to the cabin and easily cooked nice dinners, which we ate outside. We had a nice campfire, too!
From Anaheim To Heaven
It was a long drive from Arcata across 299 to 44 and finally to the mountain home and well worth the trip. Upon arriving Nancy, Jenny and I explored the house and grounds and were amazed at how wonderful everything was. After bringing in our gear we sat on the front porch and enjoyed the smell of the trees and the fresh air. Mary, thanks for advising about the camp across the way. They do get somewhat loud but, knowing in advance we were not bothered by it. The work you did on the house is amazing. I truly admire your restoration work since we have been working on our house restoration for about 36 years; it was built in 1928.
The kitchen was so well stocked that we did not need for anything except of course our food. The rooms are all very well appointed and quite comfortable. We enjoyed the history material in the house it was all very interesting.
Our excursions to Lassen were thrilling to say the least. We did many miles of walking and took lots of pictures.
Sometimes it is hard to put into words how happy you are that you stayed at a particular place. The best I can say is Mary and Curt have provided a little bit of Heaven on Earth.
Thank you again for helping to make our vacation an everlasting memory.
