A romantic weekend or family time with long range views and privacy.
Roaring Fork Chalet is named after the 200 ft. waterfall directly behind the chalet. In the winter you can hear the waterfalls and the relaxing effects are something only Mt Mitchell can bring to your soul. In the summer you can escape the heat and cool yourself off in the high mountains of the Great Smoky National Forest which borders the property line.
The chalet has a loft master bedroom with a locally grown and built red cedar king size log bed. In the mornings you wake up to a beautiful view of Mt. Mitchell and the huge valley below. Sip your coffee as the clean cool mountain air gently wakes you up.
Hike some of the local trails which are everywhere. Wade in the mountain creeks and rivers in the cool mountain water. Visit some of the most scenic waterfalls in the world as there are three very close to the chalet. Roaring Fork Falls, Setrock Falls and Crabtree Creek Falls are all less than ten minutes away. If you're up for a mountain hike you can hike from the chalet Roaring Fork Falls behind the chalet.
Come spend time in total peace and quiet away from your daily routine.

About Ron Mashburn
I live outside of Asheville, NC. I love to hike, ride mountain bikes, play with my chocolate lab Nellie and orange tabby BB, cook and enjoy entertain family and friends. I thoroughly enjoy talking about these old mountains and all they have to offer, so please don't hesitate to ask me any and all of your questions.
Ron Mashburn purchased this Chalet in 2006
Why Ron Mashburn chose South Toe
I bought this chalet in order to get away from it all. Getting back to nature, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and enjoying a round of golf every now and then was a priority.
What makes this Chalet unique
I enjoy the peace and quite. The fresh air and there's always a gentle cool breeze blowing. Sitting on the front deck and looking at the peak of Mt Mitchell has always relaxed me as well as my family and friends.
Sports & Adventure Activities
Had an awesome time staying here! Also, Ron was very accommodating with allowing us to check out late due to weather conditions.
Adam was an absolute dream to host. He always communicated and let the chalet in excellent shape. I thoroughly enjoyed hosting him!
Our stay at the chalet
The chalet was really cute, the mountains are beautiful! Unfortunately the weather caused a lot of closures, but we got to see Roaring Fork Falls. We cooked meals in the chalet and it was very relaxing and enjoyable!
With a beautiful view of the Appalachian mountains, tucked away in your own cozy area, this place was exactly what I needed! The hardest part of the stay was getting out of the king size bed upstairs each morning lol it was so so comfy. We enjoyed some board games provided and had everything we needed. Our basset hound loved the spacey outdoor area to sniff around and also didn’t want to leave ;) Definitely reccomend!
Colorful and relaxing!
Had a wonderful time at the chalet. My favorite time was late afternoon, sitting on the deck with beautiful, breathtaking view of Mt Mitchell and all the colorful Fall leaves.
Enjoyed the nearby waterfalls and hiking trails. Would definitely recommend this unique place !
Thank you Betsy and I agree with you - Sitting on the deck with a fantastic view of Mt Mitchell brings us peace. And we all can use more peace in our lives.
Charming and cozy cabin
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at this delightful cabin - I highly recommend it to a couple, with or without kids, or two couples. The cabin turned out to be cuter than the photos, very cozy, in a lovely place with a gorgeous view. It’s dog-friendly, and a fantastic waterfall is nearby, which the friendly neighbors directed us to. I do recommend that you print or screenshot instructions to the cabin though, as all cell signals do drop there, which can be a bit dramatic if arriving at night in the rain - don’t rely on your phone, but enjoy the solitude!
Very pleasant weekend.
Chalet was as advertised. It is a little remote, but has lots of lovely scenery, hiking trails, and waterfalls close by.
Tons of hiking and mountain biking trails. Trailhead to Mt Mitchell only two miles from chalet. Some of the summer camps in the area are listed below. http://www.camppage.com/ http://www.campcelo.com/ Blue Ridge Backcountry Camp Camp Grimes
