Overview

About the property

Family time or a romantic weekend with long range views and privacy.

Roaring Fork Chalet is named after the 200 ft. waterfall directly behind the chalet. In the winter you can hear the waterfalls and the relaxing effects are something only Mt Mitchell can bring to your soul. In the summer you can escape the heat and cool yourself off in the high mountains of the Great Smoky National Forest which borders the property line.

The chalet has a loft master bedroom with a locally grown and built red cedar king size log bed. In the mornings you wake up to a beautiful view of Mt. Mitchell and the huge valley below. Sip your coffee as the clean cool mountain air gently wakes you up.

Hike some of the local trails which are everywhere. Wade in the mountain creeks and rivers in the cool mountain water. Visit some of the most scenic waterfalls in the world as there are three very close to the chalet. Roaring Fork Falls, Setrock Falls and Crabtree Creek Falls are all less than ten minutes away. If you're up for a mountain hike you can hike from the chalet Roaring Fork Falls behind the chalet.

Come spend time in total peace and quiet away from your daily routine.

About Ron Mashburn

I live outside of Asheville, NC. I love to hike, ride mountain bikes, play with my chocolate lab Nellie and orange tabby BB, cook and enjoy entertain family and friends. I thoroughly enjoy talking about these old mountains and all they have to offer, so please don't hesitate to ask me any and all of your questions.

Ron Mashburn purchased this chalet in 2006

Why Ron Mashburn chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

I bought this chalet in order to get away from it all. Getting back to nature, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and enjoying a round of golf every now and then was a priority.

What makes this chalet unique

I enjoy the peace and quite. The fresh air and there's always a gentle cool breeze blowing. Sitting on the front deck and looking at the peak of Mt Mitchell has always relaxed me as well as my family and friends.

Away from it all!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much. It is definitely a great place to get away from it all! Very private. Our only negative was that due to a family emergency we had to leave early!

Lovely place in a fabulous location. Comfortable beds and peace and tranquility. Would come back

  • 5 of 5

My only critique, which is quite minor, would be the windows facing the mountains weren't clean. But the view from the patio was amazing as was the incredible peace and quiet and more than made up for it. Would definitely recommend and return.

Great Location

Great central location to explore this part of North Carolina. Extremely quiet even though the cabin is situated in a neighborhood.

Beautiful home at the perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time using Ron's house as a "home base" for exploring the beauty of the Blue Ridge Parkway and surrounding area. Perfect spot to relax by the fire pit after long days of hiking and exploring.

Wonderful location for great hiking!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I enjoyed a long weekend in Ron's cabin! We were easily able to jump on the Blue Ridge Parkway to visit some of our favorite hikes and explore new ones as well! It was just what we all needed-- fresh mountain air! Thanks, Ron!
