About Steve Shuss

My husband and are native Californians, met at the University of Nevada, Reno, married and have two grown sons. We moved from California to AZ in 1993 and have never looked back. My husband's grandparents were ranchers in AZ for many years. Our boys played a ton of golf going through high school and college. I have been in education administration for 37 years and Steve is in the aviation business.

We have always wanted an escape from the summer heat in the valley and one particularly steamy day I called him from work and said I am taking tomorrow off and we are going to Flag to find a house. This house was the third one we looked at and instantly we knew it was the one.

We have enjoyed wonderful family summers and Christmases in the snow. Our dog really loves the cooler weather and the chance to run free of a leash in the evenings on the golf course.

Steve Shuss purchased this house in 2011

Why Steve Shuss chose Flagstaff

Flagstaff has always been a town that we have loved. Our oldest son graduated from the Northern Arizona University so we had lots of opportunities to be in Flagstaff and enjoy all it has to offer. We wanted serenity yet close in to enjoy amenities. This home addressed it all.

What makes this house unique

We feel in love with the views, It wowed us when we walked through the door for the first time and continues to be a sincere source of pleasure for us.

Very comfortable and relaxing.

  • 4 of 5

Very nice home, equipped with everything you can think of. We did some cooking and had everything we needed. The rooms were very pretty and beds super comfortable. Very clean home and quiet. It is right on the golf course but people are far enough away it doesn't bother you. The views are amazing. You can see the top of Humphrey's Peak and nice Pine trees. We saw 2 deer and one coyote the first day so you have to keep pets and kids close. Driveway is okay but I parked on street. The garage was a bit small and didn't feel comfortable parking in it. I could have if I had someone spot me though. It takes about 10 minutes to get downtown and is close to shopping if you need to run to the store. The neighborhood is very nice. I would stay here again.

Beautiful setting

  • 4 of 5

We stayed with one more couple and two little puppies for 4 nights.

Almost everything we needed were available and well stocked in house.

We were very comfortable here.

The golf course and mountain view are just beautiful.

Cons: Drive way is so steep, it scratches the bottom of the car and there is no room to park on the street. Have to be very careful when you drive in.

DVD player was not working, we rented a DVD to watch but it was wasted.

Over all, it was a good place to stay and we enjoyed the place very much.

Owner's Response: When writing this response owner tested the DVD Player and it works fine. Renter was told all instructions for the house were in the Renters Guide. In response to the driveway ALL RENTERS are instructed on how to handle the driveway prior to checking in. A prior review addressed this issue. We are glad the Party had an enjoyable stay.

Hot week.

  • 4 of 5

No air conditioning made it less than pleasurable during the heat wave.

Owner's Response: The listing plainly states the house does not have A/C. The Owner re-enforced to the renter the house does not have A/C prior to check-in and more than 85% of the homes in FLG do not have A/C, The owner does give "tips" on how to lower internal temps during unforeseen heat spikes. Given the temps in FLG are in the 80's and the low's in the low 50's in june The owner cannot warranty an unforeseen heat wave.

Impressive view, great location and a warm home feeling!

  • 4 of 5

We were able to book this property in a last minute deal. Great location, beautiful wildlife just outside our window, and a very cozy, well equipped, comfortable warm home. Kids loved the slope just a few hundred yards away, great fun sledding and exploring.

Would give it 5 stars the garage was more user friendly, and was not full of trash bags. Even the trash cans outside the home were full to capacity, and food was all over as wild creatures feasted around. To park a minivan in the garage took some skills not to bottom out, and very tight place once inside, just 2-3 inches to spare. Other than that, a great place!

Enjoyable weekend

  • 5 of 5

The house has a lot of space for our family of 5. The views are incredible and location convenient. Some things might need updating (bedding in master, pots and pans), but we enjoyed our stay bery much.
