Unique appliances like laundry machine and dishwasher. A huge comfortable terrace you hardly see in this town. A diamond !
We enjoyed the apartment life in Riomaggiore. We met Mr. Simone a short hike away and he helped us with our luggage to the apartment. It is quite a few steps, so be ready!! He explained the workings of the lights, doors, etc. Coffee and wine on the Terrace. Checking our social media with the good wifi connection in the afternoons.
The apartment was well appointed. You could make coffee in any variety of coffee pots. I am ruined for American coffee now.
The view from the bedrooms and the terrace was phenomenal. The church bells during the day were so lovely. With the windows open, you could hear conversation and laughter from the streets below. This was a nice thing, not a bad thing. The town was very quiet and peaceful at night.
Our bed was comfortable. The kitchen was well kitted. The washer worked well... the clothes are almost dry upon removal and they can be hung on the line or hung up on clothes hangers to finish drying. The apartment had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We didn't cook, but enjoyed Ripa del Sole up the hill three of the four nights we stayed. The food was delicious and nicely priced. Eduardo was an enjoyable waiter!
I would hope to return on our next visit.
We spent 5 nights in Carolina’s place, and I could have stayed forever! The apartment is exactly as pictured, and the views from the spacious terrace are spectacular. My favorite part of the apartment was relaxing on the terrace, taking in the scenery. We also enjoyed the refreshing sea breezes throughout the apartment and never felt the need for AC. The washing machine was a life saver because the airlines lost our luggage for 3 days. We didn’t spend any time cooking because we wanted to experience as many local restaurants as possible, but the kitchen looked fully equipped. The apartment had more than enough room for just my husband and I, but it could easily accommodate a family or 2 couples. Carolina was extremely easy to work and very responsive to any inquiries I had throughout the booking process. Obtaining the keys from Simone was easy, and he provides great local knowledge on your walk to the apartment. A few tips for travelers: Riomaggiore is an fairly steep uphill walk once you arrive from the train station, so wear comfortable shoes and try to pack lightly. Once you get to the apartment, you have to walk up many steep, winding steps, but I assure you, the view awaiting you is worth it. I definitely recommend this amazing apartment, and I hope to return very soon! Thank you Carolina for sharing your beautiful home to us!
We had a wonderful time in Cinque Terrence and this apartment was a great place to base out of (as long as you're good with climbing stairs).
The description of the apartment and its environment was quite accurate. The communication with its owner was prompt, very friendly and very reliable. The spacious and beautiful flat was clean and well-maintained. The introduction to the flat through the middleman of the owner was also very friendly and informative.
We felt like we had found the ideal place to stay in Riomaggiore with a magnificent view of the village and the sea. Our 16-year old American exchange student who accompanied our daughter exclaimed: Oh, you found the perfect place! I may want to come back here for my honeymoon!
A surprise, however, was the beach which is not easy to walk on due to many large pebbles. Nor was it easy to get into the water. We admired everyone who arranged himself or herself on a bed of pebbles to roast in the sun for the day. We usually went down early around 8:00 am to an almost deserted beach, had a long swim and on our way back to the flat did some grocery shopping for breakfast. The girls then went to the beach after breakfast around 11:00 am and had to worm their way through the ceaseless flow of tourists poured into the village by the ferries that arrive there every thirty minutes or so - fortunately through the daytime only. We, the adults, however, stayed back on the splendid roof terrace with a nice breeze and gorgeous view and turned to reading and resting well above the crowds.
Around 5:00 pm we all returned to the beach had another long swim along the coast enjoying the view from the sea on the village and the warm colors of the evening sun on the picturesque buildings and coastline.
During the nights, initially, we did not sleep very well. Down in the Via Colombo, the central meeting place in the village with most of the shops and restaurants, life was going on rather noisily sometimes until 2:00 am. Eventually, we decided to keep the windows completely shut and to have the bedroom aired through the kitchen and living room windows. We then got enough sleep again.
Overall, after over 30 year of not having been to Italy, this has been a splendid comeback to this very hospitable and beautiful country.
My husband and I stayed in this wonderful apartment for one week and had a marvelous time. The apartment is perched above the city center (but a short easy walk to town) with spectacular views of Riomaggiore and its harbor! The apartment has an enormous rooftop terrace, providing a fabulous spot to relax and enjoy a meal or a glass of wine. We were delighted with the unexpected French doors in the master bedroom leading out to a balcony. We kept these doors open most nights and enjoyed the sounds of the city below and the church bells in the distance, while enjoying the cool sea breezes. The apartment was just as pictured on the website and was clean and well maintained. The cabinets were well-stocked with items to enhance a homemade meal. Carolina was fabulous and always promptly answered my numerous questions. I would highly recommend this wonderful apartment! Thank you, Carolina for making our holiday so special!
The Cinque Terre is stunning & Riomaggiore was our favourite of the five towns. We went with friends & the apartment is ample for 2 couples; both bedrooms are a good size with great views of the terraced hills, the pretty rooftops & the sea. The apartment is a home and so is kitted out with all that you could need for a self-catering holiday. There isn't a bath but there is a bidet & the shower is excellent. We had breakfast & some evening meals on the beautiful rooftop terrace. There are good general provisions shops in the town as well as more specialised food shops. The owner's friend, Mr Simone took us to the apartment. There is a climb to get there but you can walk up the sloping main street (avoiding some steps). There are steps up to the apartment which is on the top floor & then up to the terrace (the bathroom is also on this level). Mr Simone insisted on helping with cases up the steps to the apartment. The climb is worth it as it gives you such beautiful views!
Mr Simone gave us recommendations about where to eat etc. which were all very good. Ripa del Sole (situated at the top of the town) served lovely staple Italian food - try the mixed anchovy platter to see how you like the local delicacy cooked. A Pie' de Ma' is located on a cliff top overlooking the sea - a café by day where you order, pay and collect from the bar - we had lunch here on our first day - beautiful salads and delicious wine and then returned on our last evening for an evening meal (restaurant service at table). Ask the owner/sommelier for advice about wine. Essential to book (as it is with most restaurants in the area). We drunk the local white wines both in restaurants and back at the apartment; thoroughly recommended. Mr Simone also recommended the local pasta shop - you can buy it ready cooked by them or cook it back at the apartment which we did - delicious pasta and sauces. There is a bar on the next level down to the apartment; we had excellent croissants & coffee there one morning.
Some Cinque Terre paths are closed due to storm/flood damage a few years ago. Where coastal paths are shut you can still climb over the hills eg from Riomaggiore to Manarola. Check at the information centre by the station. All towns are connected by train so you can walk one way & get the train back.
Also recommended Caffe Matteo in Corniglia & the boat trip to Portovenere.
Carolina was great to deal with, answered e-mails & refunded breakage deposit promptly.
A lovely holiday.
