4 Bedrooms, 1 Bath . 3+ Acres In A Great Lake Bomoseen Location Near Everything
Lots of Vermont charm in this home! The bedrooms were originally horse stalls and kids just love that magic! Fully stocked kitchen, Franklin stove as well as central heat & a/c.. Large basement contains a ping-pong table + washer and dryer & small fridge. Outdoors, a very large area of mowed grass creates room for lawn games like badminton & even sledding in the winter! Crystal Beach is up the road and the lake marina is great for renting a boat or there is a site for launching your own. Indoors there is a game closet for rainy days.
NOTE:This home is NOT located on the Lake but is nearby :)

We bought the home as a weekend retreat.. Our family enjoyed Winter weekends skiing Killington & Pico and Summer at the beach, fishing on the lake, playing badminton and entertaining family friends who came to visit.
Alison purchased this House in 1971
Why Alison chose Bomoseen
It is a one-of-a-kind property and we fell in love with the idea of a horse barn being converted to a residence! It struck us as so reflective of historic Vermont. The property size of 3+ acres also appealed to us as a 'playground' for our boys. We played baseball & badminton in the Summer and went sledding in the Winter and it was a great place to invite friends to visit.
What makes this House unique
Just about everything you need for a vacation is there and you have a choice of so many things to do, either on site or sight-seeing around Vermont. It is also such a comfortable place to 'hang out'. There is a fireplace for cool days, plenty of room to play in the basement or outdoors + there is always Wi-Fi and TV.

Cozy, comfy stay
We have stayed at several places in this area over the years, but we loved this one the most! Close to town but far enough away for privacy, perfect size for our needs, and a wonderful, accommodating owner! We believe that we have found our favorite place to stay in the Castleton area!
So unique ! and very comfortable
It was a pleasure dealing with Alison, the owner, who helped make our last minute booking a possibility...I wish we could have met her in person ! We found her cottage to be perfect for our mini-escape from a stretch of miserable weather at home to a much warmer and sunny spot ! The "barn" is in a great location on a quiet road close to the lake and several state parks for walking, swimming (yes, it was in the upper 80's in late September !) and all the kayaking one could want on Lake Bomoseen. Quaint and historic Castleton is just a few miles away as is Fairhaven with the larger city of Rutland about 20 minutes away. Make sure you visit Clarendon Gorge...not only is it very interesting but there's also a wonderful swimming hole ( on the other end of Gorge Rd just off of rt 7) to cool off in !
Lovely spot for a family! The yard was fantastic for the kids to 'camp' and evening fires.
The Barn is charming and fully equipped for a comfortable stay.
Although there were only two of us in the house, with the bathroom off to one end and the kitchen and living space separate from the bedrooms, the layout would be most accommodating to a group. As we prepared for the trip, Alison replied quickly to all if our questions.
We totally enjoyed the yard and the fire pit. I would not return due to the stairs leading to second floor. We found them to be quite scary. I was very concerned with my husband going up and down them without support.
Great setting for Fall 'leaf-peeping'. The house is set on 3+ acres within walking distance to Lake Bomoseen. Drive North or South Route 30 for great views. Mountain bike @ Killington, outlet shop in Manchester (45 min.), antique shop, visit Fort Ticonderoga or Middlebury(28 mi.), Shelburne Museum etc.Horse-back riding @ Pond Hill Ranch in Castleton. Winter you can ski locally or go north to Sugarbush or Stowe, ice-fish & skate on the Lake. At the house there are indoor & outdoor games and lots of land to play on. Fair Haven is a short drive for stores and supermarket but there are small grocery stores just a short distance from the house too.
