Lovely, privately situated home (3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, sleeps 6) with the true feeling of Vermont.
Around the Property: Plenty of space for lawn games. Croquet. Horseshoes, badminton, catching fireflies. If you hit the little white ball, take a 9-iron or wedge out to the 'long yard.' Ninety yards to the tree line. Or pull out a three wood and hit old balls into the trees (you're still on the property.) We'll leave you a few if you ask.
Hiking: A five minute walk takes you to Beartown Rd., starting point for a medium hard, two-and-a-half-hour trek up Mount Equinox, highest peak in the area, looming over Manchester. From the top on a clear day, see for miles, into New York, New Hampshire, and Massachusets.
Strolling, running and biking: At the top of the private road is Three Maple Drive, the prettiest country road in all Manchester. Burbling streams, generational maple, oak, hickory...,horses in field, and barn. North after a mile or so, Three Maple descends and becomes MacNamara Rd. into Dorset. Good for a walk or a run into Dorset . Or biking further, into new country, a Hemingway coinage.
This is a beautiful, comfortable home and we thoroughly enjoyed our week's visit. It's secluded but very close to all the activity in Manchester as well as the hiking trails on Mt. Equinox. It was very clean and well equipped for all our needs. For a good part of the week there were five adults in the house and plenty of space to read and relax at will. I highly recommend this house and the proprietors!
The property is in excellent condition, exceptionally clean and in a lovely, private location. The kitchen was beautifully equipped. The owners were responsive and helpful. We were very happy there for our two weeks at the Manchester horse show.
My husband and I spent 5 weeks at Paula's and had a wonderful time. The house has everything you need to be very comfortable and feel at home. Paula helped us with activities and where to go. We had guests come and stay with us and the house provided lots of room for everyone.
Our time in Vermont was spent taking day trips all over the state. It was so nice to come back to the house when the day was over. Each day was a new adventure.
For those that grill, there is a wonderful Weber gas grill available.
Yes, we do hope to come back here.
I took my family of two grand children, one son and daughter-in-law and spent 5 weeks at this simply wonderful house. Paula and Ed stay in the garage apartment which is helpful in case you need something. Otherwise, you don't see them and they make you feel that it is your own house while you are there. Inside was completely furnished with everything you will ever need. Extremely well kept up and a great location. A perfect Vermont rental.
We loved everything about the house... the proximity to town, the floor plan, the great kitchen, the huge wraparound porch, the privacy, you name it. We brought our three kids plus the au pair, and we're definitely going to return. The proximity to hiking up Beartown Road is a real bonus... we hiked around up there with the kids and also did a fast 2-hr hike with just us parents. For anyone interested in accessing the Equinox trail area, this is an awesome starting point. The nearby hikes around Equinox Pond starting from West Union Street are also super for the kids. And naturally the au pair loved the shopping. Thank you Paula!
We rented this home as an alternative to a hotel room for a wedding weekend in Town, and it was perfect! The house has lots of space, is immaculately kept, is very private, and is just a few minutes from all the restaurants, events, and shopping in the center of Town. The owners were extremely accommodating (cleared room in the fridge and pantry, had a liner for the bed my toddler would sleep in, and gave me weather updates the week approaching our stay) and made us feel more than welcome in their lovely home. If I ever plan another trip to Manchester, I will definitely see if this house is available!
Come and explore the beauty of Manchester and the mountains from this spacious and well appointed country home. Inside you'll find three generously sized bedrooms and two and 1/2 bathrooms, the Master with a whirlpool bath. Gleaming pine floors, oriental rugs and tasteful furniture are just part of the picture. Relax on the large wrap-around front porch with wicker furniture or on the sunny back deck. The house is very privately situated, yet only seven minutes from downtown, close to The Southern Vermont Arts Center, shopping and fine dining.
