Ioana and Marius Enache purchased this apartment in 1997
This is the apartment Ioana grew-up in and which keeps deep in its walls all her childhood dear family memories. Memories of a childhood where your home was the nest of all celebrations, a home of happiness. Before 1989 private property was not existing in Romania and familly was happy to be able to buy it afterwords while keeping its spirit of dearness and warm souls.
Located on the same street with the oldest house in Bucharest (Casa Melnik - today The National Art Museum Theodor Pallady), the property has been renovated with a touch of old Romanian art while considering all modern lifestyle needs. Is close to all major touristic attraction as well as concert halls, theatres, restaurants, parks, groceries, pharmacies, aso. Still the area is very quiet and safe.
The hosts could not have been more helpful. I highly recommend taking them up on their offer of getting picked up by their 'trusty driver'. The cookies and wine left were much appreciated as was the good air conditioning since we were there during a hot spell. We did not have a car and walked to Indian, Mexican and Chinese Restsurants in the area. We walked to Old Town often, about a mile walk. The inside of the apartment is as very nice and comfortable. The place can be a bit dark, but reading lights are in the right places. A good market, Mega Image is very close, we stayed 17 days. I guess the neighborhood would be described as old Romania.
From the moment we arrived at the airport to the moment we left Bucharest everything was above our expectations: the host, the appartment, the location. Thank you Marius for a memorable stay.
My wife and I have stayed in many HomeAway apartments...this is one of the best.
Marius and his wife have put more into this apartment than many of us do for our homes. Everything is highest quality (sheets, kitchen equipment, et al).
To document how much attention to detail: the media equipment is state of the art and comes with a carefully written brochure just for this equipment explaining how to use each item.
Location is great...short walk to stops for Metro, Hop on/Hop off bus...large, modern grocery store is just off Carol Street. Even near the Bucharest Stock Exchange!
Very happy with this rental experience, Fred and Katalin Potter (FL and VT)
This is a very spacious, comfortable, and elegant apartment in the Armenian district of Bucharest, a beautiful area which was nearly untouched by the Communist destruction. It is close to grocery stores, and just a few short blocks from a bus stop where you can catch buses that travel about 8 or so of the routes around Bucharest. In typical European fashion, the outside of the building is not particularly attractive, but the apartment itself is really lovely, and impeccably clean and well-maintained. The only possible negative is that it doesn't get a lot of natural light, but with the electric lights (including several chandeliers) it is quite well-lit. We enjoyed it immensely.
The apartment is well-equipped but could use a few little things to make it perfect: a couple of small tables in the living room (to put drinks or books on), some shelves or drawers in one the the bedrooms (the other bedroom already has shelving), and a couple of tea towels in the kitchen (to dry dishes). Other than those few things, I can't think of anything that would make it better.
The owners are extremely available and receptive, but never intrusive. They provided us with cell phone numbers and their email address so we could contact them at any time. When I did email them, they got back to me within a couple of hours. They encouraged us to call them if we liked (so we could get an immediate response), but I don't like phones very much, so preferred email.
The apartment is exactly as it appears in the pictures and description.
We used their very prompt and reliable driver, Alberto, on several occasions, and were very happy with the service. Alberto's English is excellent (as is the owners') and my husband had a lot of fun joking with him as we drove to various places. On one occasion, there was a mix-up with a complicated reservation that we had made on our own, so Alberto called and straightened out the whole thing for us (in Romanian, which we don't speak at all).
I would definitely recommend this property to everyone.
If you stay at this apartment, you will be very happy with your holiday!
The property is greatly located! Beautiful building, very spacious... Overall this is the perfect place to stay in Bucharest. They are so friendly!!!! Great! I recommend this 100%
The owner is a gracious host who picked us up and oriented us to the place. The place has recently been remodeled with nice new kitchen, sun porch at rear, and modern large bathroom.
The location is great in a quiet neighborhood, with markets and restaurants close by. It is a bit over half mile from old town, various museums of Bucharest.
We were there for a family event after being on the road for 3 weeks so the washing machine worked out so we could get our clothing cleaned.
Our apartment is in the heart of Bucharest at five minutes walk to the old center which is full of restaurant and touristic attractions, theatre, museums, parks, classical music concert hall, shopping. Is is in a very close proximity to Pallady museum located in the older building in Bucharest, groceries, restaurants, pharmacies, spa center.
