lovely and relaxing kitchen very well equipped
Villa was clean with more than ample outdoor space in a very nice area. There is quite a bit of construction in the area so expect some noise for the next several months. For us, it was not a huge factor but very noticeable. This home had the best stocked kitchen of any rental we have every used. Our property manager Jody was very pleasant, attentive, and helpful on the 2 occasions we had to call her. I feel she works very hard at her job and would do her best to address any issues within her power. The home was clean and was nicely decorated. Someone has tried to attend to the details. I would encourage the owner to update a couple of the kayaks. One has no seat that we could find, so I strapped the life jackets together and stacked them to make it work. A 2 person kayak would likely do the trick. The small kayak is for a child and is hard to paddle even for a small teenager. The bioluminescent bay is the real deal. One of the best things we have ever done. Rum point is not quite, but basically across the street. You will have to go there for the beach. There is no beach behind the house. If you are thinking there is a beach in the area like seven mile beach there isn't. If thats what you want you will need to stay on that side of the island. All of the beaches in this area that we found were very grassy. Starfish point and kayaking around the area were fun. There are no grocery stores in the area so stock up on your way. There are 3 restaurants in the area that we all enjoyed. We would definitely go back.
Thank you for your kind review.
Please come back soon!
Grand Cayman Villas
House is more dated than the photos
We were very excited about this house based on the photos. When we arrived, we were underwhelmed. It is smaller than we imagined and more dated than the pictures suggest. The most glaring example of this is the couch, which is just kind of old and run down. But there are broken tiles , some of the screens in the porch area were ripped and the washer/dryer was surprisingly loud. There are enough basic supplies to do your cooking if that is what you want to do, but there is virtually nothing in the way of basic food items, so you will need to purchase those and they are very expensive on the island and you have to drive pretty far to get to a real grocery store.
The pool is nice, but the "spa" part of it does nothing extra. It doesn't get warm, it doesn't have jets, and I couldn't even find a way to turn on a light for it. It is nice looking out on the bay, but honestly, if you are going to Grand Cayman, I would suggest a house on the ocean. The beaches on the island are incredible and the bay is just not something you would want to swim in. We hoped it might be at least okay for kids to play in, but that isn't possible as the water comes up to a barrier wall.
The property manager did take care of some things for us (the screens were fixed and when we discovered only 4 beach towels, despite having more guests than that, they did drop off more) but completely ignored another request. I went to use the grill and within 5 minutes, the propane was empty. I called two people on my contact list, emailed two people, and never even got a response. Nobody answered the phone, nobody replied to my email, nobody asked if it was taken care of. Nobody lifted a finger. And this exemplifies my overall problem with the house; instead of being proactive with the property and making sure it is in good shape and ready for your arrival, they are reactive and will only address what you bring up. You are paying too much for that kind of service. I definitely would NOT stay in this house again and I don't think I would book with Grand Cayman Villas again, either.
My advice: find something on the beach, ask a lot of questions about the house, and pay close attention to the reviews left by others.
I was surprised to read this review and see only 2 stars.
You had some legitimate complaints ( screens, propane, towels) and I wish you had brought them to my attention if the on-island manager was not pulling through. I never received a call, email or text (I provide my cell number) from yourself.
You initialed a paragraph in your contract acknowledging that you would alert Grand Cayman Villas & Condos (and me personally) if there were any maintenance issues that were not being resolved to your liking. We manage the bookings for 72 homes on island and we can't fix what we don't know. I am sorry that we didn't have an opportunity to make it right for you.
Just For Fun is a great cottage and the location of it on the cove was made clear to you both in map view, photography and description when you booked. This home, based on location and wood-frame cottage-feel is less than half the price of a similar home across the street on the white sand beach at Rum Point. In December when you booked we may not have had any beachfront availability for a February 25 arrival. The convenient location of Just For Fun cannot be overstated however.
The pool is accurately described and we do not refer to the house offering a "spa" in either the description or the list of amenities. The owner had too many issues with guests leaving the heater on all night; maintenance headaches, etc. It is instead connected to the main recirculation system and guests still use it for shallow children pool and for cocktail hour as it has benches with vies of the water & dock.
Judy the manager had the screens repaired and provided the towels and propane... all oversights that should not have happened. We apologize for that and again wish we had known so that we could have reached out to you with a tangible expression of contrition and apology. Our company owns a charter boat business and has other things we can do for our guests who are inconvenienced that way you were. If we had only known.
Now we have your 2 -star rating of a great house to contend with going forward...when communication with us directly (per contract) could have not only prevented the poor review...but also remedied the issues to your satisfaction.
Please accept our apology and we will work harder to make Just For Fun as pleasant a home as we can for our future guests.

Fun Time at Just For Fun
This was our first visit to Grand Cayman. We were originally booked at a villa in St Croix which was heavily damaged due to the hurricanes and our vacation was canceled. I searched for villas in Grand Cayman and Just For Fun popped up and our vacation date was available. This villa did not disappoint. After visiting Seven Mile Beach on one day of our stay we were so happy that we chose this villa in the North Point. It was very quiet but close enough to walk to Rum Point for dinner/drinks or other fantastic restaurants in the East End. The villa was clean and well stocked. The pool was refreshing after a day of sightseeing. Other high points were the kayaks they supplied which we used every day, especially at night to see the bioluminescense which was absolutely amazing. The private sandy beach was also a plus and the private dock was perfect for our private charter to pick us up to bring us to Sting Ray City. If I had to make any suggestions it would be to have the spa tub heated and to have a cooler and beach chairs available to bring to the lovely beaches. However, these minor things would not cause me to choose another villa. Our family thanks you for making our stay so enjoyable.
4.5 Star Stay! January 20 - 27
We loved our stay! We are family of 4 w/ twin 4 year old boys. They could not get enough of the pool. The layout of the the house was extremely conducive to our needs. Bathrooms were located on either end of the home, as were bedrooms with the common space being in the middle. It was great that you could see out from the kitchen and living room all the way to the pool, to always have an eye on the children. There was a nice short 150m walk to the beach. Beach and sea are beautiful. The location and home are great. Only reason, I would not give 5-Star. 1)Bathrooms needs to be updated 2) Couch cushion covers needs to be changed, they were clean, but looked dingy and aged 3) Tiles around pool need to be reset and glued (there were a few "floaters").
We would absolutely come back again. A great family vacation, home & location. Thank you to all.
This house everything if your planning on staying at Rum Point with 2 min walking distance from Rum Point Bar & Restaurant. I highly recommend this house if your staying in this area of the Caymans!
We were scrambling for a last minute vacation spot since Irma ruined our St. Thomas plans. The house and location were amazing. We spent every day in the fabulous pool and walked down the street for delicious frozen drinks at Rum Point. Chartered a boat from Silver Thatch and the awesome captain, George, picked us up at our dock. While the more reviewed restaurants get all the buzz, make sure you stop by Over the Edge Bar and Grill.
Our hearts are with everyone affected by these terrible storms but found a true gem in the Cayman’s at Just For Fun!
The entire island is only 22 miles wide from west to east; so you are never too far from anywhere on Grand Cayman. The cove-front homes in “Cayman Kai” (within Rum Point) offer calm serene water for docking a rental boat, permitting charter captain pick-up or just safe shallow water for little children. Adults won’t swim in the cove (rum point is too nice by comparison) —the water is shallow and has a softer bottom and there is no reef here for fish life...but At 3BR Just For Fun...the best white sand beach is literally right out the front door. You get the best of both worlds at Great Escape; a private backyard, pool and boat dock access...as well as proximity to the Rum point Club...AND a perfect beach across the street. The beaches are flat white barefoot sand. There is usually little breeze here to speak of. Many homes in Cayman Kai offer a screened porch. The big draw to this area is the proximity to the “Rum Point Club”; a public beach club that offers a fantastic barefoot beach…many watersports, a restaurant, bar, grill, gift shop and pick-up beach volleyball games. (www.rumpointclub.com ) It is from the Rum Point pier that the www.redsailcayman.com 65’ catamaran departs to stingray sandbar for snorkeling trips. Also near Rum Point is the Kaibo Yacht Club restaurant, bar and marina (www.kaibo.ky). Just a great neighborhood dotted with million-dollar oceanfront villas. Click our map on the home page. Lastly…about 20 minutes east we have (2) large resorts in the east end (www.morritts.com and www.thereef.com ) that offer manicured beaches as well as restaurants, a modern grocery store, liquor store, gift shops, SUBWAY sandwich shop (and even a coffee/pastry shop). These two resorts also offer scuba, snorkel trips, jet skis, windsurfers, kiteboarding, ocean front pools and bar service. www.tortugadivers.com and www.whitesandwatersports.com offer snorkeling tours, paddle boards, jet skis, etc.
