About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 8)

Our cabin is set up to accomodate couples, friends and families with 'feel at home' lodging. It's a great place to bring your clubs and play golf or your fishing gear and take advantage of some of the best Salmon, Trout and Steelhead fishing in North America. The cabin is unpretentious on the outside but a 4-star hotel inside with a relaxing view of the Devils Hole bend of the Muskegon river. Our vacation home has been professionally designed and decorated and it shows. We cater to anyone who enjoys spending time in a National Forest. We have all new stainless kithcen appliances, large flat screen HD TV with full cable and great wifi for internet connections, air conditioning, washer/dryer, outdoor grill, firepit etc. to make your stay more comfortable. Our home is freshly remodeled from top to bottom. It is exceptionally clean and completly furnished with everything you would need for a great stay. Please visit our website for more details...

Keywords: Our 850 s.f. cabin is situated at 2485 Muskegon Blvd on the steep high bank within the Devils Hole Bend of the Muskegon River. Upstream about 3.5 miles from the small town of Newaygo, just below the Thornapple boat launch. Nestled within the Manistee National Forest our small neighborhood shares the Manistee with turkey, deer and black bear. Considered a fly fishing haven for brown trout, rainbow trout, steelhead and salmon, the river is suited to wading, drift fishing, kayaking and canoeing.

Enjoy an outstanding view down to the river while maintaining the feeling of total seclusion as your nestled within 100' tall hardwood trees. We are set up with 5 beds in 3 rooms (1 queen bed, 2 fulls and 2 twins), a fully stocked kitchen, linens and towels. Why stay at a hotel/motel when you can comfortly stay at our home. We cater to those who want to spend a few relaxing days fishing, canoeing, kayaking and golfing. We have fishing guides if you are som inlclined, I would not recommend being able to fish on the river in front of our cabin because of the steep access.

About The Owner

We live in Texas but my wife is from Michigan and we travel up 4-5 times per year to fish and visit her family. I am a Landscape Architect and my wife is in the Insurance industry.

The Owner purchased this bungalow in 2010

Why The Owner chose Western Michigan

We fell in love with this place because of its feeling of seclusion yet a great view of the river. The fishing has no rivals. The locals have made us feel at home and many have already become great friends.

What makes this bungalow unique

One thing we didnt realize is how many top ranked golf courses and antique shops there are in the area.

Comfort, Clean, and Roomy Cabin!!!

  • 4 of 5

I rented this VRBO for a two night stay during a fishing trip. The place is great. Lots of space for comfortable relaxing and sleeping accommodations. What better way to enjoy a Michigan fall night than sitting around a campfire! I would highly recommend.

A great time

  • 5 of 5

Very cozy and cool little cabin right off the Muskegon River. It has an awesome fire pit stocked with logs (perfect for relaxation) and a deck with a Grill & picnic table. Our first night we saw bunch of deer in the yard which was pretty cool. I would recommend Devil's Lodge to anyone

Awesome place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was my second trip, and there will be many more in the future. The cabin is in a perfect location and has all the comforts of home including a fireplace. Not far from town, but far enough to enjoy the natural beauty of the river. There was lots of wildlife to see-turkeys, deer, birds- and beautiful fall colors all around. The house is close to the Croton Dam which is a nice location for fishing and sight seeing. Also, it was just a few minutes away from the main strip of town so we were able to go visit nearby businesses like the Newaygo Brewing Comapnt and Sportsman's Bar. There were also some cute little shops on the Main Street. we loved sitting around the fire pit in the back yard and grilling on the patio. This is a perfect spot for anyone that wants a nice, relaxing vacation with a little fishing and sight seeing too! I highly recommend it!!

Good stay, with some disappointments

  • 3 of 5

While the interior of the house was comfortable, we were disappointed to realize that the cabin has very close by neighbors, and is in a neighborhood of sorts. We were looking for solitude - a neighbor got up and blew leaves every morning we were there. It certainly is more quiet than a suburb or city, but definitely not the cabin in the woods I thought we were getting. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to get down to the river from the house - we had to drive to find places to walk/hike. I DO NOT think the owners were deceptive in their description - just unclear maybe, I felt a little surprised upon arrival. I write about it here to make sure people know what they are getting. Also, the only real fridge is out in the shed next to the house - and it was so cold it froze all of our groceries. So, check the temp when you go! On the bright side - the area is beautiful, and the fall colors were lovely. We had some good walks. We recommend the hike at the dam near town - short and pretty.

Serene!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have stayed in many VRBO properties over the last few years and have come to recognize a home that has been created to meet all the needs of vacationers. Kyle and Debby have such an adorable home, beautifully decorated, amazing master bedroom-loved the bed-and the outside atmosphere is awesome! We stayed for three nights and received so much info on the area from Kyle, even helped us arrange a guided fishing trip that turned out amazing. In fact, we will have two King Salmon mounts for our home and enjoy some smoked salmon very soon!! Many thanks for allowing us to stay and can't wait to come back!!😊򒠠Chad and Leanne Simpson
