Nestled in the hardwood forests of The Kettle Moraine State Park our lake home is the perfect place to unwind with family and friends and create lasting memories in the stunning beauty of our quiet little lake. Located on over one half acre of flat land, a beautiful gently sloping sand bottom beach and postcard views from our enormous water-front deck, you have stumbled upon one of the best kept secrets in Southern Wisconsin. Rice Lake (Lower Whitewater) is blessed with over 75% of untouched State Park shoreline. Whether you are sipping your morning coffee as you watch the sunrise over the lake, having dinner on our deck or lakeside screened-in porch, playing with the kids on the beach or fishing for our trophy large-mouth bass from the bench at the end of our pier all you gaze upon is the majesty of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Rice Lake boasts only 39 homes residing on its shoreline which makes it the most ideal lake within 100 miles of Chicago, Rockford, Milwaukee or Madison for 100% pure relaxation. All boating and watercraft are welcome on our lake but we typically see very little boat traffic and many times you will feel as though the lake only exists for you.
Our home is located in the middle of a small bay which offers additional protection for all beach activities. The lake itself is incredibly clean and is listed as one of the cleanest and healthiest lakes in Wisconsin by the Department of Natural Resources. The lake has several islands including one that harbor's a small cottage. You will also find Kettle Moraine hiking and biking trails within walking distance of our home. Some of the best mountain biking trails in the midwest are less than a 10 minute drive away. Tons of nearby antique shops, 'Mom and Pop' restaurants and taverns, farmers markets, fantastic golf courses, excellent fishing from our pier and a pure hand-dug continuously flowing artesian spring within walking distance that you can use to collect ice cold crystal clear water for those hot summer days.
Rice Lake is truly a hidden gem among the hustle and bustle of many of the surrounding summer hot spots. You are less than 25 minutes from Delavan, Elkhorn, Lake Geneva and Janesville but you will feel like you are literally in the middle of nowhere (even though the town of Whitewater is a short 10 minute drive.) Peace and quiet is what brings people to our sandy shores and it will find a warm spot in your heart as well.
We have owned our home for 25 years and it has never been rented out. You will not feel as though you are in a sterile corporate owned house but a well maintained and cared for member of our family. This home has brought us more amazing and cherished memories than I can count and I know it will provide your family with the same.
Please email me with any questions you may have. I am more than happy to send you additional pictures of our home as well. I have also put together a detailed write-up on the history of Rice and Whitewater Lakes, a little more background about us and a list of our favorite nearby restaurants, bars, bike & ski shops, churches and golf courses... I am more than happy to pass that along as well.
We are looking forward to hearing from you!!
Keywords: Lake House,
Lovingly maintained family lake house. The owner even guided us to the property over the phone when we realized our mapquest directions were wrong.............and he was on vacation and out of the country! We really appreciated the directions to everything in and around the area. It was fun to look out and see folks parked on the lake and ice fishing. Highly recommend!
Just returned from the lake today. The lake house is just as portrayed in its pictures. It is very homey with comfortable beds and furniture. We brought our own boat. The public ramp was close by and easy to use. I tried the kayak and loved it! (I think there is one in my near future!) Husband and brother in law went golfing at Prairie Hills. Fishing was not very good while we were there but my husband caught 2 crappie. We floated in the lake for long lengths of time on the warm sunny days. The sand bottom felt great!! ... not rocky and my 89yr old dad loved his afternoon dips in the lake. We filled up water jugs everyday at the artesian well and it is the best water I have ever had!!! My mom (who has mobility problems) was also with us. With help, my mom was able to get out to the deck and enjoy the fresh air. She probably could have made it down to the beach with help but was content on the deck. The lake was busy with boaters on Sunday but other than that you might see one or two boats a day. Construction just began on a house up the street on Tuesday so there was noise from that, but that can't be helped and is just temporary. I could not believe this gem is only 55 minutes from my home!! I felt like I was far away!! I absolutely LOVED this place and so did my family!! There is no internet there which was a big plus in my book!! We are already talking about hopefully returning next year! Thank you Sullivan's for sharing your lake house with us!!!!
We would like to thank you for renting out your home. We were right on the lake. Because we were there while the lilacs were blooming we were greeting each morning with the wonderful aroma of the the lilacs. My husband brought two kayaks so he and the kids were able to tour the lake. Couldn't have asked for better views and more relaxing time. We even ventured out to go hiking on trails in the area. Thank you for a much needed time to relax. Would have liked wifi but that is a small complaint for all the fun and relaxation we enjoyed.
We enjoyed a family week at this homey lake home. It worked out so well for our range of needs. From small children ages 7 and 8 to disabled senior citizen. The children could safely play in gently sloping swim area and their grandma could comfortably sit on the lovely deck and watch all of their frolicking and joy! Having 2 full bathrooms worked perfectly and the washer and dryer was super! Don't plan on wanting to drink the water because of the mineral odor - but do plan on traveling under 5 minutes to the local artesian well for the best (free) cold, spring water I have ever tasted. We also visited nearby Old World Wisconsin which was fun and loved the general store, deli, bike shop in LaGrange. Whitewater has good grocery shopping at Sentry and a farmers market in the True Value Parking Lot that was quite nice.
Rice lake although not crystal clear is clean and non weedy. We enjoyed swimming, kayaking and fishing by adding a rented motor to the included row boat. We all want to come back next year! Thank you Sullivan's!
Our family really enjoyed this lake house! The linens were all crisp and new and the deck has beautiful new patio furniture. The most appreciated feature was the gradual slope to the peaceful lake, and the sandy beach for our grandson to play in. The view from the deck is exquisite! We also really appreciated having a rowboat and kayak at our disposal, and we fished right from the very sturdy dock. The owner was very accommodating and helpful and easy to reach by phone. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!
My husband and I travel to Wisconsin twice each year to visit our son and grandchildren and decided to try something other than the commercial resorts we have used in the past. We were looking for a peaceful place on a lake that was also not far from conveniences...we found it all and more with this lovely and well maintained lake home. Everything about this home gave the impression of a well loved family home that helped the owners create thousands of fond memories. The owners were extremely understanding and easy to work with. I would recommend this home to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of our fast paced world. Love, love this place!
