House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)
Fantastic ocean front experience!
Six old friends had a reunion at this beautiful house (three of whom stayed at a lovely condo 3 miles away.) We cooked, ate, drank wine, napped, kayaked, walked on the beach, and had a wonderful time in each others’ company!
We all fell in love with Molokai and this house!
My wife, my ten-year-old daughter and I spent a terrific week staying in this lovely beach front house.
Many things have made this place my best vacation rental we've ever stayed in Hawaiian islands. Its simple yet tasteful architectural design, its spacious lanai and the adjacent grass garden overlooking Lanai Island, its location close enough to Kaunakakai where we found a nice grocery store (Friendly Market), a few cozy places to eat out or buy gifts... those are just a few of them, and the list goes on and on. The last yet foremost is Dayna, our super attentive property manager who always supported us with her on-the-spot answers for our ad hoc questions ranging from how to dispose garbage to location tips for fun and safe swimming.
Every evening we had a walk along the beach just a few steps from the lanai, walking toward West watching the sunset, or another one up to the hill across the Route 450 in front of the house where we enjoyed the three-Island view. No fancy restaurants in town, no gorgeous resort complex, but the time we spent here was a true luxury.
Strongly recommend this place for relaxing family vacation and for a base camp to explore beautiful mountains and waters of East Molokai.
We love having guests stay on our island that understand the beauty of Molokai, and even sometimes the lack of amenities and their okay with it.This island isn't for everyone, we don't have tons of restaurants or shopping or
pre-made activities. But we do have is a island with no traffic or stop lights, no long lines. Just 100% of island beauty. We hope to see YOU guys back again!
Calming and Relaxing Place
A beautiful place and a property to relax.
The house and the veranda give enough possibilities to relax in peace and enjoy the view of the sea.
A house ideal for families or friends.
We felt very comfortable and totally enjoyed our week
Break in risk is high
While we were out for a 2 hour drive, the place was broken into and all of our electronics and my passport were stolen. The place is not secure, so if you leave anything in the place while you are out, there is a significant risk of loss.
As a result, I cannot recommend staying here unless you are prepared to take all of your valuables with you every time you go out. We had been told that Molokai was a very safe place but, according to the police, there have been a number of break-ins recently. If the place was reasonably secure, then this would not be an issue, but it isn't. Unless the windows and doors are significantly upgraded to reasonable standards, I would personally not stay here.
This house has been doing vacation rental since the year 2000. This is the first time anyone has broken into this house. We have seen 2 break ins this year in our properties and none in the last 15. If you are very concerned when you leave a property close the windows. That is how they got in was because the windows were left open. It really does not happen on Molokai. We are a rural island and I am sure it is a lot worse other places.
Marvelous beach, sweet cottage, beautiful location
I fell in love with Molokai and this charming little house on the south beach. The house is not fancy, like most of this island, but it is clean and comfortable. The beach is about 25 steps from the big back lanai, and stretches a long walkable distance each direction. We saw tons of whales from the lanai, and turtles swimming around the reef. The water is shallow due to the extensive reef, but great for wading (don’t touch the reef) and for kayaking—3 are here for use at the house. It’s perfect for beachcombers as well. My daughter happily dug in the sand and collected shells for days. It’s nice not having to bring a ton of stuff to lay on a beach, and to be able to just walk back inside for a drink or a snack or to use the bathroom. And with so little ambient light at night, we had some of the best stargazing I’ve ever seen. There are downsides: there are ants and gnats and geckos, this is the tropics so that’s just part of life here. There is no AC but I doubt many places on Molokai have it; electricity is very expensive here, and the island breeze and ceiling fans kept us comfortable anyway. The house sits on the main highway so there is some noise from passing cars, but I got used to it pretty quickly. The kitchen is pretty lightly stocked; we did have enough pots and pans and made some killer dinners here with fresh caught fish etc. Molokai really has no “fancy” restaurants so if that’s your kind of travel you might want to go to Maui instead. But if you like the freshest poke, nearly deserted gorgeous beaches and the friendliest people, you will love it here. Don’t be surprised if strangers stop you to say hi. We are already planning our next trip back and will definitely stay here again.
We do hope to see you again on our Island. Now you know what makes Molokai so special. If one does come to Molokai with no expectations and accepting of the way of life, all with have the experience of a lifetime, despite our tropical criters
Great beach house
We really loved this house. It is in a great location not far from town in a quiet area. The house was adorable and very clean. The deck was where we spent most our time, looking at the ocean. The bbq was great to cook on, and it’s just a few steps from your own little area of beach. We will definetly be booking this home next time we come to Molokai! The managers worked well with us and our late flight out on checkout day. I would Highly recommend!
Thank you for the great review.
We work directly with Alamo and get great rates for car rental while on Molokai or anywhere in Hawaii. We also work with Go!Mokulele Airlines and get discounted rates on interisland air travel.
