Los Cocos Holbox is a charming beachfront cabana for those of us who can't get enough of the beach and who love to experience those soft tropical sunsets.
The cabana was constructed in a grove of coconut trees as a traditional fisherman's cabana with a palapa roof. The cabana was recently restored and updated to provide guests with modern comforts and amenities, while retaining its authentic island feel. The best of both worlds!
When you wake up at Los Cocos Holbox, there's no need to go to the beach. You're already there! Step outside the door and your feet are in the sand. In the morning, you can watch the fishermen bring in the nightly catch as the seabirds wheel and dive. All day long, you can watch the hypnotic every-changing sea. And the evenings are punctuated by those incredible sunsets for which Isla Holbox is renowned.
The cabana is equipped with 2 bicycles and a kayak for your free use. And, of course, you can hang hammocks from the coconut trees in front to enjoy your island home.
The cabana is cozy, comfortable, and suitable for one or two beach-loving adults. Inside, you'll find a bedroom with queen size bed, AC, kitchen, and bathroom. Easing the transition between the house and the paradise outside is a porch/sunroom with ocean views. Finally, there's a magical outside shower with overhanging seagrape trees.
Holbox's central square, where you'll find a variety of restaurants and grocery stores, is a short 5 minute walk from Los Cocos.
While Holbox still has a remote 'Robinson Crusoe' feel, we can make it easy for you to get here. Ask us about setting up a personal transfer for your party direct from Cancun's airport -- or from anywhere on the Maya Riviera.
Our guests love us, and return!

The setting is charming, the care-taker is great ! We spent 2 weeks and we will go again !
We spent 6 wonderfully peaceful days at this quaint cabana. James was so helpful in arranging our travel from/to Cancun. The travel arrangements went exactly as planned so there was no stress about making it to the airport on time. The cabana was everything I had hoped for, a stone's throw to the beach, quaint, and very cozy.
We just got back from our week at Los Cocos on Holbox. I am so glad we were able to rent it, I know it fills up quickly. James, the owner, was a dream to email and ask questions. He was very accommodating, and he arranged all of our transportation for us, which was truly very helpful. We don't speak Spanish, so having this all arranged ahead of time, was much peace of mind. The cabana has every thing you need, and is so cute. The screened in porch was delightful at night, when the mosquitoes were out. They were not as bad as we had heard, so don't let that stop you, just bring repellent. Walking into town and picking a place to eat was so much fun! We used the bikes a few times, too, but everything is so close to Los Cocos. Our fav place to eat was right next door, at La Papala, as the food and view were great and it was so convenient. Watching the sunset from right on the beach was fun every night. The beach is right out your door, yet you have some privacy due to all of the trees. Susana is the caretaker, and she is a gem. She was there to greet us, and checked on us every day and took care of a couple minor issues. She even ran into town the first day for some super glue when my husband's hearing aide broke! SHe answered all of our emails/phone calls, and is a wealth of info on the island and the places to go and see. I highly recommend taking a 3 island tour, we loved it! There are two showers, but we loved the outside one the most! Susana came and did housekeeping in the middle of the week. I highly recommend Los Cocos.
We could not have made a better choice with this property. Very wide beachfront property with a beautiful beach and easy access to everything. We used the bikes that were included to explore the further reaches of town and the island, but otherwise we walked to everything. Many drinking and dining options on the beach or a few steps into town. Susana the property manager was very attentive to the property and was a great source of information. We really couldn't imagine staying anywhere else.
From beginning to end our trip was incredible. Los Cocos is in the perfect location, Isla Holbox is an absolute treasure, and Susana is wonderful. We spent most of our days relaxing in the cutest macrame chairs and trying to catch a picture of the crab living under the house! The home has everything you could need, and the screened porch and outdoor shower were lifesavers. After a long day swimming with majestic whalesharks, coming home to Los Cocos was a dream. I've never wanted to re-visit a vacation spot, but we'll be back here. We'll be staying at Los Cocos again for sure!
I found Los Cocos on VRBO a few years ago, but it was always fully booked 6-12 months out & never available for when we were planning, so I was thrilled to find 5 open days this year & grabbed them. James was very responsive & easy to work with & organized the transport from Cancun airport which went seamlessly. The driver stopped so we could stock up with which was very helpful - not checking bags, important to get bug spray & sunscreen (MUSTS), as well as beer, etc. It's an easy 2 hour drive to the ferry, then 30 minutes over & a 5 minute golf cart taxi to the cabana, where sweet Susanna met us with a wealth of information about Los Cocos. It was exactly as described & very clean. She also stopped as she passed daily to see if we needed anything & chat, with info about the area, where to eat, the animals, etc. I was concerned there would be issues due to the hotels close in on each side, but it was very quiet Mon & Tues, with more noise/people each day to the loudest on Friday, our last night. However it was nice to hear a bot of local music from the bar next door as we relaxed in the chaises & it wasn't so loud in evening, or so late, that it disturbed sleep. And as people walked by, it was obvious the vast majority didn't even realize that we (or the cabana) were even there, so nestled into the coconut palm grove! The outdoor shower was wonderful, with great water pressure & we used it the most, except for when the mozzies were at their worst. Internet service was out to the entire island for our stay, but we made the most of the extensive & varied library of books & games, & of course had brought our Scrabble as always. It was the most relaxing 5 days I've ever spent, with daily naps on the chaises listening to the waves softly lap just steps away & the palms rustling above. Stores are everywhere so you can buy what you need & food options are plenty, with many restaurants to choose from. The 2 best being Milpa, where we had dinner twice & has an inventive menu that's a foodie's dream, & El Chapulim (grasshopper), which has no menu as the chef creates a few entrees from what's fresh that day. There are plenty of other very good, affordable places as well (print/bring the TripAdvisor list in case no internet) but do avoid the expensive hotel restaurants (2X as much as those excellent ones). Overall a lovely, relaxing vacation & I would highly recommend Los Cocos to anyone that craves a pure, beach cabana/island experience!
