Description

El Cuyo Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

Bungalow, 1 Bedroom, kitchen, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Los Cocos Holbox is a charming beachfront cabana for those of us who can't get enough of the beach and who love to experience those soft tropical sunsets.

The cabana was constructed in a grove of coconut trees as a traditional fisherman's cabana with a palapa roof. The cabana was recently restored and updated to provide guests with modern comforts and amenities, while retaining its authentic island feel. The best of both worlds!

When you wake up at Los Cocos Holbox, there's no need to go to the beach. You're already there! Step outside the door and your feet are in the sand. In the morning, you can watch the fishermen bring in the nightly catch as the seabirds wheel and dive. All day long, you can watch the hypnotic every-changing sea. And the evenings are punctuated by those incredible sunsets for which Isla Holbox is renowned.

The cabana is equipped with 2 bicycles and a kayak for your free use. And, of course, you can hang hammocks from the coconut trees in front to enjoy your island home.

The cabana is cozy, comfortable, and suitable for one or two beach-loving adults. Inside, you'll find a bedroom with queen size bed, AC, kitchen, and bathroom. Easing the transition between the house and the paradise outside is a porch/sunroom with ocean views. Finally, there's a magical outside shower with overhanging seagrape trees.

Holbox's central square, where you'll find a variety of restaurants and grocery stores, is a short 5 minute walk from Los Cocos.

While Holbox still has a remote 'Robinson Crusoe' feel, we can make it easy for you to get here. Ask us about setting up a personal transfer for your party direct from Cancun's airport -- or from anywhere on the Maya Riviera.

Our guests love us, and return!

Best location yet!!

If you are looking to disconnect, by yourselves, on the sand, with Carribean blue ocean, look no further!! The rest of the reviews tell the story! We were so very lucky to find a week available in November without a lot of planning. We fell in love with the Holbox and Los Cocos. Susana and James were the best. By the time we left, we had our routine down! We rode bikes everywhere everyday, so much fun. From a quick ride in the morning to retrieve a cantaloupe to riding to the resorts down the road for cocktails at sunset with a salsa band on the beach. Our Spanish is so improved after only a week as well! We loved the screened in porch and chairs by the fence rail to just sit and watch the water. Mark felt like a beer one afternoon, he simply walked next door to the hotel mini-restaurant to get one. The Palapa house is so very eco-conscious, you can see the local materials in the construction and charming local decorations make you feel right at home. James doesn't miss a detail, the handmade local soap bearing the Los Cocos label was a treat, especially when used in the outside shower. We loved it, we will return. Thank you James and Susana!

A little piece of paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Truthfully, I am reluctant to give a fantastic review as I would hate for more people to discover this little gem in Mexico. ;-) That said, the house on the beach was truly amazing. It was just what my wife and I wanted; perfect location, great yard on the beach, million dollar sunsets, and interesting little town to explore. We'll definitely return!

Amazing Experience

  • 5 of 5

We spent 6 wonderfully peaceful days at this quaint cabana. James was so helpful in arranging our travel from/to Cancun. The travel arrangements went exactly as planned so there was no stress about making it to the airport on time. The cabana was everything I had hoped for, a stone's throw to the beach, quaint, and very cozy.

One week of paradise in a beautiful cabana!

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from our week at Los Cocos on Holbox. I am so glad we were able to rent it, I know it fills up quickly. James, the owner, was a dream to email and ask questions. He was very accommodating, and he arranged all of our transportation for us, which was truly very helpful. We don't speak Spanish, so having this all arranged ahead of time, was much peace of mind. The cabana has every thing you need, and is so cute. The screened in porch was delightful at night, when the mosquitoes were out. They were not as bad as we had heard, so don't let that stop you, just bring repellent. Walking into town and picking a place to eat was so much fun! We used the bikes a few times, too, but everything is so close to Los Cocos. Our fav place to eat was right next door, at La Papala, as the food and view were great and it was so convenient. Watching the sunset from right on the beach was fun every night. The beach is right out your door, yet you have some privacy due to all of the trees. Susana is the caretaker, and she is a gem. She was there to greet us, and checked on us every day and took care of a couple minor issues. She even ran into town the first day for some super glue when my husband's hearing aide broke! SHe answered all of our emails/phone calls, and is a wealth of info on the island and the places to go and see. I highly recommend taking a 3 island tour, we loved it! There are two showers, but we loved the outside one the most! Susana came and did housekeeping in the middle of the week. I highly recommend Los Cocos.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We could not have made a better choice with this property. Very wide beachfront property with a beautiful beach and easy access to everything. We used the bikes that were included to explore the further reaches of town and the island, but otherwise we walked to everything. Many drinking and dining options on the beach or a few steps into town. Susana the property manager was very attentive to the property and was a great source of information. We really couldn't imagine staying anywhere else.
