I am honored to have a home that allows me to share the beauty of Vermont. I lived in Vermont since 1974 take great pride in our cultural heritage and environment. If you are a lover of nature and culture--or desire a quiet, private get-away, this place will offer you many options.
As an advid biker, skier, kayaker and all-around general outdoor enthusiast, I'd be honored to share the magic of the region.
Ellen Hill purchased this studio in 2013
The Pondhouse has been called magical and enchanted. I've travelled and lived overseas and have served in the Peace Corps. To own a home (that actually has two homes) and allows me to host people from all over the world is a unique privilege. Now that I have offered The Pondhouse to others and I read the reviews and the notes that are left behind, I know that others cherish their time here and create special memories. I have been meeting the nicest people who love the magic of Vermont!
The Pondhouse has been described many ways:
"The "home" as well as the outside surroundings with the gardens and the mountains in the background are spectacular, peaceful and pristine."
"Perfect weekend getaway to escape the city and find true peace and quiet. The house was tucked away and all you could hear were birds and frogs."
"The Pondhouse felt like a home away from home."
"If you are looking for a convenient, well- appointed, lovely spot to get away from it all, this is your place. The photos can't possibly do it justice."
"It is a perfect place for a couples getaway, great space for cooking and enjoying a meal and each other."
"It's peaceful with beautiful surroundings, yet conveniently located just down the road from the bustle at Smuggler's Notch."
Come discover the magic for yourself!
Just love this place for a quiet retreat. Jeffersonville is a nice little town with a nice health food store and massage therapists for when the skiing is not awesome! Nice hiking too! Clean, well appointed comfortable. Ellen is a great host, very responsive but laid back.
Ellen is a great host! Can't wait to go again!
We are skiers and we came to ski. We've been to Smuggs many times before and we have always stayed in the resort. I just started using VRBO properties and saw this one and thought how cute it was. So I thought we should give it a try. I am glad we did. It is exactly as pictured and I think I preferred Ellen's place to the resort. It was close enough that the drive was inconsequential, and it was much quieter, bigger, and the kitchen better equipped (we hate eating out) We didn't miss the resort feel. Other pluses- You don't get a mountain view like that out the windows at the resort. We even saw deer in the yard. Most importantly for us, Ellen allowed our dog to come too.
Beautiful loft space with amazing views. Space is well build and managed professionally.
This charming carriage house has a wonderful ambiance. Heavy snow made it all the more magical, just a stone's throw from Smuggler's Notch
Ellen was extremely friendly, helpful and provided everything you could possibly ask for. The pond house is absolutely marvelous and the view of the mountains is wonderful to wake up too. Also can't forget the wild turkeys running around the lawn even morning! Everything you need is already in the pond house, I always over pack anyways but it was nice to know I didn't have to. Very modern and updated, clean, and private. The proximity to Smugglers notch skiing is literally right down the road which was awesome! Also very close proximity to Burlington and we took advantage, going out to dinner and shopping on the downtown area on church street! Also perfect equal distance to Stowe, the breweries and nice restaurants there. It is in the center of everything and if your planning a skiing trip, brewery tours, or just a romantic getaway it's the perfect place for either. Ellen can give you good recommendations on anything and provides a lot of material to get you started right on the desk inside the pond house. She really was great to rent from and the best host we've had. We will be back next year for a return trip to Smuggs. Thanks again Ellen!
