It was perfect.
Beautiful location. Lovely accommodations. We will come back.
Stunning location and unique property!
Our family loved spending time on the lake and on the back porch of this property, it was very private and quiet. The views from the back windows were stunning! The house had plenty of room for us and all the basic amenities we needed. The inside is fairly plain and some areas of the bedrooms/bathrooms looked like they needed updating, but we enjoyed staying in a historical home. The owners answered my questions promptly through the app and made check in/out very easy on us.
This is a wonderfully restored historic house. The photos don't do it justice. It is spacious, comfortable, clean, and has all that you need for a great stay. The owners are in town and responsive quickly (we had a car issue when leaving and the owner drove to the house to help us out so we didn't have to wait for the car mechanic to come). All the appliances are in good working order, there were plenty of linens and towels. The best part was the lake - kids fished and dogs had a great time swimming and then playing in the huge yard in front of the house. The town with restaurants and a well stocked supermarket is 5min drive and there is hiking around but we honestly barely left the property and grounds, it was so nice!
There is no value for what you get - it was cold; the heating was not on when we stayed. It felt like we were roughing it the whole time what with the kitchen being barely stocked with any cookware and lack of heating. What they had was the cheapest, lousiest cookware you could find - hardly felt like a "home away" where the owners themselves actually would live. There were spiderwebs everywhere and the house felt drafty all the time. I would have been more comfortable staying at my own home in the city.
We would like to start off by apologizing. We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. We try very hard to make sure that our visitors are happy and taken care of when they stay in our house. We make sure to reach out several times during their stay to see if they need anything, or have any questions or concerns. We were not made aware of any concerns during your stay.
Catskill nights can get very cold, even at the end of August, beginning of September. The heat is not on at that time, but we would have made sure that you were comfortable, if we were made aware. We could have supplied more heaters and/or extra blankets.
Our home is an old house built in 1898. It is located in the mountains. You will encounter some spider webs, that's part of its' charm.
We do not advertise a gourmet kitchen, and apologize that the kitchen was barely stocked, and basic. We appreciate your comments and will try in the future to stock it with more cookware for future guests.
We always welcome suggestions and appreciate any feedback.
Again, we are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay.
Wonderful sunny historic home
We were upstate for a reunion and stayed with 6 adults. The house worked beautifully for our needs but would be great for a family also. The beautiful family room overlooks the lake and was a constant gathering place during our stay. The owners were very accomodating and accessible. We will definitely stay here in the future.
