Saco Studio Rental Photos and Description

Studio, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

We have a studio apartment on our small organic farm which is located in our restored barn that was built in 1793. The apartment has a private deck which overlooks beautiful perennial gardens and small ponds.

Guests are highly encouraged to pick organic vegetables in season. Fresh eggs from our pasture raised hens are always available.

The apartment features a queen sized bed and if needed, twin air mattresses for children. A full sized kitchen with a gas stove, refrigerator, and microwave will allow you to 'cook in' with ease. There is Wifi and satellite television as well as a DVD player for those evenings you might want to relax at home.

The back deck is a lovely place to sit for a meal or to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Visitors always comment that we provide them with an environment that is comfortable and serene.

We are located 4 miles from the Maine Turnpike, a 10 minute drive from the Saco train station, or a 30 minute drive from the Portland airport.

For those who are interested in more physical activities, our rural 'back roads' are wonderful for biking. We are a short 7 minute drive to the Saco River for swimming and kayaking/canoeing. Wonderful mountain hiking trails are within a 30-60 minute drive. Some of Maine's most beautiful beaches are also 15 - 30 minutes away.

If you prefer the 'fun parks', we have water parks,' Funtown', and an adventure park within a 10 minute drive.

For the shoppers, Kittery and Freeport outlets are each 40 minutes away, Portland's Old Port district is 25 minutes, and the Maine Mall is 20 minutes.

Keywords: Close to beautiful beaches and the Saco River. Fresh organic vegetables available in season as well as fresh organic eggs. Very private deck and gardens. Lifelong Maine resident with excellent knowledge of tourist destinations. Only 10 minutes from Maine turnpike or the Saco train station and 25 minutes to Portland.

About Pamela and Nicol Tifft

Our small farm is indicative of our 'self-sustainable' lifestyle. Nicol is a veritable 'jack-of-all trades' who did the restoration of our home and our barn. He is the organic vegetable gardener, the logger, the farm maintenance man and an excellent cook. Pamela is the native Mainer who keeps the perennial beds in some semblance of order as well as being the managerial staff of Rocky Hill Farm. We have traveled extensively over the years and some of our favorite places to stay have been small apartments or cottages in rural communities.

Pamela and Nicol Tifft purchased this studio in 1988

Why Pamela and Nicol Tifft chose Southern Coast of Maine

We built our studio apartment in our beautiful restored barn for our daughter and her husband. When they moved to New York City, we decided that it was time to invite travelers like ourselves to our little corner of the world. It has been a wonderful experiment and we are very happy to be host/hostess to the amazing people who choose to visit.

What makes this studio unique

Our farm allows you the opportunity to experience first hand a small working organic farm. Our location is an excellent 'jumping off' point for many of southern Maine's wonderful attractions.

Sweet Rental, Great Hosts

  • 5 of 5

We spent a month with Pam & Nicol at their farm and were very pleased with our stay. We loved our hosts who were simply delightful! The unit consists of basically 3 rooms, an eat-in kitchen with a small breakfast bar, a living area with with a small TV/DVD player and a bedroom with a queen bed and a wardrobe. The deck outside the living area was a very pleasant spot to enjoy morning coffee and an afternoon glass of wine. The owner's photos are very descriptive so there were no disappointments with the property. Fresh eggs and vegetable deliveries by our hosts were a real bonus. As avid birders, we chose this location for a central location for several areas we wanted to bird. We made many birding and touring day trips to coastal areas from Ogunquit to Falmouth. We would certainly stay here again if we vacation in Maine in the future.

Cozy, Clean & Comfortable

Great place. Pam & Nicol are great too. It is one bedroom /studio with private deck in the countryside of Saco, Maine. Perfect for my needs. A bit of a drive to town and the beach but very affordable.

Children will love it!

  • 5 of 5

My two children, ages 10 and 12, and I spent a week on this fabulous farm. Pam and Nicol are extremely pleasant, giving people. Their home, gardens, ponds and apartment are so beautiful. Then, there's the awesome barn! When the rope swing in the barn came down, I knew this was the place for us. My kids would swing for hours - it was such an unexpected treat! The experience is one we will remember and my kids are asking when we can go back! Always a good sign!

Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I along with our dog so thoroughly enjoyed our five week stay at Rocky Hill Farm that I find it difficult to describe adequately just how wonderful this experience was. For starters, our hosts, Pam and Nicol, were extremely attentive to our particular interests, which included fresh garden produce and eggs, and acres of land to walk with our dog. Nicol placed eggs and veggies from the farm at our doorstep every day - much appreciated indeed. Our hosts were never too busy to stop working and chat with us. The serenity of the location suited our desires, but for folks who want the constant commotion and glitz of Old Orchard Beach, this farm might not be the right place, although the shore is only about 15 minutes away. The apartment is lovely, clean and cheerfully bright. The owners descriptions of the property and the reviews are all accurate. If you enjoy the tranquillity and ambience of a well maintained Maine farm in a rural setting, you will not find a better vacation location than Rocky Hill Farm.

Summer on an Organic Farm- an A+++Experience

  • 5 of 5

The place is peaceful, gorgeous and eye popping...the gardens offer a delicious bounty of yummy vegetables...but the best part of Rocky Hill Farm is the owners! Pamela and Nichol were so gracious and welcoming, we felt like friends from the first day on the farm. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and provide for our needs. They exceeded our expectations! The apartment is VERY comfortable...so bright and well situated, private, with a well appointed kitchen. I love the many windows and hardwood floors. I made many meals and even baked desserts for my children in this kitchen, often with ingredients grown on the farm. I learned a lot from this very knowledgable and lovely couple-including how satisfying it is to live the self - sustaining lifestyle, even though I had not done any of the work!

Notes:
We are a small organic farm with beautiful gardens and open space. We encourage people to pick fresh fruit and vegetables in season and to visit the hen house for fresh eggs from our pasture raised hens. We are able to accommodate a small family of three or four by adding twin air mattresses for the children. There is a washer and dryer available for use in the farmhouse. The barn deck is very private and has a lovely sitting/eating area overlooking small ponds in the beautiful garden.
