We rented the main house, two adults two teens.

This property is superbly located for easy walking access to downtown Victoria and is opposite the large Beacon Hill Park. Cook Street Village (supermarket, restaurants, coffee) is two blocks away.

The house is as described, very clean and well stocked, plenty of dishes etc, also foil, cling wrap, toilet paper, washing supplies (I have stayed many places which provide nothing beyond the basics). The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room, four bedrooms, 2 double 2 single.

Nancy, the property manager was very helpful and easy to deal with.

The house is beautiful and this was one of the best VRBO properties we have stayed in. I have no hesitation recommending this property.

Excellent historic home!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent May in Victoria staying at this lovely property. We are planning to come back next year for a longer stay. The house is well maintained, clean, and easy to settle into. We could walk into town, into the park across the street, and to the Cook street village a couple of blocks away. We found we could walk to get pretty well everything, including groceries, yoga classes, and the local pub. We couldn't recommend this property more highly. Nancy made setting up the booking very easy and took care of all the details for us. For a first VRBO experience, it was fantastic.

Lovely in every way & the best possible location in Victoria

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six (two parents and four university-aged offspring) absolutely loved our stay in this restored heritage house across from Beacon Hill Park in Victoria. We highly recommend this rental and would happily stay forever.

The house exceeded our expectations, which were high. The graceful rooms are large and airy, with high ceilings and abundant windows. All the lovely character of an Edwardian mini-mansion has been preserved, but of course with the addition of a modern, well-stocked, gourmet kitchen, and three elegant bathrooms. (There is a seemingly endless supply of hot water, I might add -- something that we don't have in our own home.) With two spacious master bedrooms, two elegant single bedrooms, and a library that accommodated a spare bed, each of our 'kids' had their own room.

Our hostess greeted us warmly with a bottle of Italian wine and flowers from the garden and an assortment of tour guides, which we made good use of -including a book about heritage buildings that featured our house.

This property is directly across from Beacon Hill Park, which is centrally located. We never needed a car or public transit. On foot, we explored:

-many beautiful beaches, including those in Beacon Hill Park and along Dallas Road. (Victoria has one of the most beautiful settings in the world, with ocean in every direction.)

-the Legislature Building, the Empress hotel and inner harbour

-Munro's Books and Murchies on Government Street

-Chinatown

-Craigdarroch Castle and Government House

-the historic Ross Bay cemetery

-Esquimalt waterfront pathway

-historic buildings of Fairview and James Bay neighbourhoods

The house is only a block or two from the charming Cook Street Village, where we could buy organic produce and enjoy great coffee. (There's a musician named John who sells vegetables at the Marketplace during the day, but performs at the Serious Cafe on Monday evenings. A five-minute conversation with him, and we felt part of the neighbourhood.) Although there are supermarkets a three minute drive away, pretty much everything we needed was available in the Cook Street Village.

We live in Vancouver, which is just a ferry ride away, and as a family we've enjoyed vacations in more distant locations such as San Francisco, New York, etc. But this vacation in Victoria was one of our very best. Victoria offers a combination of historic sites, natural beauty, walkability, and great bookstores that is magical.

A wonderful home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have found a better place for a family reunion and 90th birthday celebration. It was so easy to move into this grand house and feel at home. The house was clean, incredibly well stocked and very well laid out for family gatherings and entertaining. The location next to Beacon Hill Park, Cook St Village and the inner harbor was a huge bonus. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this house - a wonderful place to bring family together!

excellent family home

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful stay in Victoria for 9 days over the Thanksgiving weekend. The house was perfect for us! We have three children and all of us including our nanny were very comfortable in the house. it was clean and impeccably maintained and fully stocked with everything we needed. Beacon hill park is located across from the house and there were two excellent playgrounds for our children within walking distance. There are beautiful trees lining the park that you see from the house and we loved the area. It is close to the harbor, cook street village and the park. We had most or our meals in the house and the kitchen was fully stocked and the huge dining room was great for our family to all eat together. We have been looking for years for a comfortable home to accommodate our family and we have finally found it! We will be coming back to the house and would very highly recommend it.

Excellent Family House

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful and just as described on the site, Great location across the road to Beacon Hill Park, and walking distance to stores, restaurants, coffee shops, etc at Cook Street village.

Very well equipped with everything we needed (and then some).

Check in and other interaction with the manager was seamless.

Overall great experience and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
