Better than the pics!

  • 4 of 5

A few friends and I recently stayed there this past weekend and everyone loved it!!!. A few updates have been made to the property that are not shown in the pics, the back patio is now covered and there is additional outdoor chairs right next to the bench. Those were all a plus! The guys got lucky fishing and caught Papio, Oio, and eels. The backyard is beautiful, well taken care of and the grass is pokey-free.

Just a heads up, their gas grill is pretty small. If you're planning to BBQ I'd bring a charcoal grill. Also, I suggest keeping the doors to the house closed if you're cooking, there's tons of flies.. But it does get hot with the doors closed.

I'd definitely stay here again!

Beautiful Beach House on the Ocean. Incredible views from the back yard of the ocean!

  • 4 of 5

We were welcomed right away from Holly . She made us feel right at home . This home has everything you need so that you can spend quality time at home or just get going and embrace the area. Because this home is on the ocean there is constant breezes but they don't always come inside the home. I think adding AC or large upright oscillating fans would be a great addition. We have had a wonderful time (all five of us) enjoying walks on this gorgeous beach. Would love to return to this home in the future.

Family Adventure

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Hukilau Hale property in mid-April

The weather was very rainy for 3/5 days which was unfortunate.

The sunny days were great as we could swim and boogie board just a minutes walk down the beach! There were turtles swimming just over the bank at the house in the rockier reef type area. It was too rough too swim but nice to watch turtles and waves.

The yard can't be beat for both function and privacy including an ocean view! Basic water toys and Bocci ball provided to entertain kids.

The house is nicely decorated and set up well for family with children or teens. We made cookies and played Surf Monopoly on the rainy days. The grocery store and Angels ice cream shop are only a 5 minute walk away and movies can be rented at the Red box if you need. Safe area.

Beds were comfy and provided fans. A bit muggy at night for our stay as no A/C but tolerable. Nice air flow overall...

Would return no question!! Good location to drive to sites and food trucks only a bit of a drive up the road... Great rental for our family North Shore Adventure!

Beautiful Beach House!

  • 5 of 5

My family just returned from a week at this Hukilau Beach home and couldn't have been more pleased with our stay! The view alone made the week fantastic but the house offered so much more that contributed to a great vacation! The beds and pillows are comfortable, bathrooms updated, plenty of towels, stocked kitchen so we could cook meals, beach items (2 chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, sand toys, snorkels, inflatables). The inviting yard boasts a hammock and four Adirondack chairs, which were well-used by my crowd, and two tables for outdoor meals and such. We loved having a washer and dryer so we could pack light and just throw in a batch of clothes every few days, along with the bath towels to keep them smelling fresh. (We brought detergent pods with us, though there were supplies at the home.) Holly does a great job keeping things clean and well-maintained and was very responsive the couple of times we had questions. We absolutely loved staying here and highly recommend it!

A few things to consider for your trip:

- On advice from friends, we went from the airport to Costco and stocked up for the week. We did pop into the nearby grocery store for small things but saved so much money shopping at Costco.

- At the food trucks about 5 minutes north of the property, there is a fruit stand tucked behind the corn truck (behind Giovanni's). We had some delicious meat skewers for $2 each and fried banana lumpia for $1 each, both some of our favorite finds!

- There are a few pairs of water shoes, but it would be worth bringing some. Many beaches, including the one behind the house, are beautiful but rocky.

- We had a great day at the Polynesian Cultural Center! If you go for the cheaper luau, arrive at 11:45 when the center opens so you can fit in all of the village shows before the luau at 4:00. Keep in mind that you will have a good 90 minutes in between the luau ending and the evening show starting, while the second luau is taking place. With the house so close, you could totally run home if you don't want to peruse shops or listen to live music, but definitely return for the evening show at 7:30!

- A lot of the restaurants and shops are cash only. If you don't like traveling with too much cash, there are ATMs readily accessible. Also, several restaurants we tried were closed one day during the week - either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday - so check hours before venturing out!
