Andrew Oliver purchased this house in 2011
We bought this home to spend our vacation time climbing in one of our favorite places on earth, Hueco Tanks.
Some of the best bouldering in the USA, right out your front door.
My husband and I and our two dogs stayed for 10 days and absolutely loved this home. We had just moved to the area and stayed at this home while we looked for a place to live in El Paso. The home has everything you need and is very comfortable. It is located in a beautiful desert setting with wonderful views and lots of natural light. We loved the proximity to Hueco Tanks State Park. It was a peaceful, quiet and relaxing stay with many wonderful sunrises and sunsets to enjoy. The owner, Andrew, is extremely responsive and very helpful. We highly recommend this vacation rental. Even though, we are now living within the city of El Paso, we are already considering staying there again as a get-away from the hectic life of the city. It truly is a hidden gem!
This was one of my families best vacation. The home was very clean and all the furnishings a home could come with. Overall was very peaceful and relaxing vacation. Can't wait to stay again!
Property was as described but was 24 miles east of El Paso. One must plan meals and grocery shopping so as to not have to make many trips to/from the store. Property was well equipped but some attention is needed to light bulbs in kitchen, master bath and laundry room. Mr. Oliver provide excellent customer service. I would recommend this property to anyone who wishes a quiet restful location. The property is only 3 miles from the Hueco Tanks State Park which is well worth one's time to visit. They do have guided tours Wed - Sat just for the asking. One must be prepared to do some rock climbing. While there we visited Misilla, NM, which is a worth while trip. Quant town where Billy the Kid was tried and sentenced to hang. A wonderful Mexican restaurant, La Posta, there with outstanding food. This restaurant was also visited by Billy the Kid. While in El Paso we ate at Taco Chico which was an experience. A cash only restaurant with round tacos. The Guadelupe mountains were approximately 90 east of our location. Though we did not visit I think the trip would be worth while. White Sands, NM, is a day trip which one might want to avail themselves of. El Paso is a busy city of 650,000 + with lots of traffic during work hours. Most enjoyable for us was the sun rise and sun sets over the mountains, the quiet restful location and the wild life: Road Runners, Jack Rabbits, etc. Hope to return someday. Enjoy!
If you are a rock climber we would suggest paying for a guide and be sure to sign up to go into Heuco
My wife and I are retired and spent about six weeks at this property. We brought our small dog on the trip and had a wonderful stay. For starters the beds and bedding were all high quality and comfortable which helped us to sleep well throughout the trip. The kitchen was well stocked and was a joy to cook in. The living room with a 55inch TV has a large cozy couch. The TV entertainment system included a small sound system and an Apple TV so we were easily able to stream Netflix and Amazon Prime videos.
The location is fairly remote, perfect for people who want to get away from an urban environment and have some privacy. It is a great place for hiking, biking and boulder climbing.
The host and owner of the property, Andrew Oliver, was great to work with. He was very responsive to all of our questions and needs.
For the most part the Internet was great though there were a couple of days with low bandwidth due to a huge influx of rock climbers attending an event at Hueco Tanks State Park. In addition, there were a couple of instances where we had to completely unplug the wifi router and wireless internet modem in order to reset them so as to regain full bandwidth and internet speed, but that wasn’t a big deal.
To sum up, we had a really nice, comfortable, relaxed experience at the property. The home is well equipped and working with the owner was great!
Located in the starkly beautiful Hueco Valley just minutes from some of the best bouldering in the United States. We are located less than a mile from the park gate on paved roads.
